@Swidhelm there are actually 3 "traction" modes in the manual Vettes; first is anti-spin which I believe most new vehicles have now, next button push turns off the anti-spin, and lastly is the "competition mode" for drag track use.

The ZR1 has so much power, only professional drivers can push it to its limits. Magazine testers lack the bolls to get it to its potential..

Its got one very sophisticated stability control system.. it will not kill you, the problem is, its so fast it will terrify anyone not used to its speed.

It keeps up easily with GT2 race corvettes, and those things are fast.. very very fast...

The 7.38 that Sportauto recorded is still a very good time though, but well behind the 911 GT3 RS,Koenigsegg, etc etc, the most important car to beat it though is the GTR it's 4 secs faster and 40k cheaper. BTW not sure what else you could be of european supercars except be a fan...they make the best cars in the world, you know it, I know it, the whole world knows it really mate...all the best.

@iiredeye american cars can compete with european cars of the same value. when one compares a $100,000 zr1 to a $400,000 lambo, it's obviously not a fair comparison. but compare the zr1 to any other $100,000 euro car. there's no real money to make in the super car business. it's not very profitable, so there's only 1 current american super car for sale atm

@ken060693 Hmm I know what your trying to say...but, I'd have to say that cars like the 911 GT3 £83k, Aston Martin DB9 £115k, or Nissan GTR £60k, would have the upper hand on the £110k ZR1 in the UK. I know they're all different types of sports cars, but the big power of the Vette is probably not enough to beat the competition in terms of overall ownership, although it's more than a match in terms of pure performance. There is as we all know a lot more to owning a supercar than just power.

ZR1: 1.0g / 638 hp

GT3: 1.03g / 450 from what I've read, you know this thing only has a I6 right? HA!

DB9: .96g / 469 hp

GTR: .96g  / 473 hp (and hits 60 in under 3 seconds, faster than ZR1)

So, while the GT3 beats it BARELY, it's no match in power, they all lose, thank you.

@onesickms3 maybe on a straight line but in the corners the GTR is much faster. The ZR1 struggles to put down all it's power and since the GTR is AWD it has the advantage in grip and traction. It's also faster around the Top Gear test track than a ZR1. Don't get me wrong though, I love the ZR1 but I'm not sure if it's better than a GTR.

Yes. That's why it's called launch control, no? it's still a manual transmission. It doesn't affect the transmission, it just controls the rev's to try to control delivery of the massive Chevrolet muscle, so ham fisted and lead footed drivers have less chance of ending up in the weeds when they try to show off.
