Well in the US, you have to run the US championships to qualify for the world team. There are senior and junior divisions, so technically you don't have to be professional. You just have to be fast enough to make the team, which are usually the pros
that bald guy at the start of the race running in the lead wearing the red singlet almost looks like the guy who ran in the 2004 Olympic 1500m final. Anyone agree?
@Pokekevin This bald guy is Reyes Estevez, a former 1500 European Champion (1998) and former bronze medal in World Championships (1999). He has also competed in Olympics and holds a personal best 3.30.5 in this distance. One of the best 1500 Spanish specialists and former Spanish champion in the National Cross Country Championship.
@thISxTHplacE First of all, National Championships of each country determine who is eligible to be selected in the World Championships. Obviously, the best runners in this kind of distances and modalities usually compete in cross country competitions, but track specialists are also awesome competitors in such cross country competitions. IAAF can also approve to compete for those individuals (top class level athletes) whose respective national team is not represented
i believe he also took a dump, make some hot tea, did some trigonometry, played some halo 3, and took a 20 min power nap before resuming the run and pwning everyone else.
In xc do the winner wear a special jersey. In cycling u were one. Just wondering?

Not only did Bekele lose his shoe, he had to stop and tie it, which made him stop for approx 30 seconds.
