  • Costly? Yes, very costly, probably billions more than the "Long Gun" Registry Law that the Conservatives just killed. Who will pay. All of the taxpayers and those paying for advertizements and Ads on the Internet; which eventually trickles down to the Internet users.

How many promises has Harper broken since the last election? Who can keep track? How many of the idiots that voted these Fascists into power will remember what they have done when the next election comes around?

  • Every time in the past that you used any type of "Loyalty Card" - such as 'Air Miles', 'Safeway Club Card', 'Aeroplan', 'Optimum', 'TD/GM', 'President's Choice', 'Petro' - the Corporations knew exactly what you bought; and, they kept accumulating a shopping profile about you. The police have already been using all of this information to prove and/or discount alibis and to track down criminals AND also to save the lives of victims. This sword cuts both ways. I've known about this for many years.

  • où sont les vidéos en français? ce projet de loi affecte les francophones tout autant!

where are the french videos? this bill affects french-speaking Canadians just as well!

  • Does anyone have the actual name of this bill? I would like to read up on it for some more background info. Or is this part of Bill C-10 that was passed last month?

  • @Devilfish8888 C-50. you can read the whole thing on the government website.

  • @Devilfish8888 actually that might not be it. sorry I get all the bills confused.

  • @Devilfish8888 Bill c-30 now it was bill c-51 a week ago

  • @Devilfish8888

Protecting children from internet predators act or some bullshit like that.

  • 20K Views goodluck. You should get Justin Bieber to do it.

  • @KevinDolin: could you post a specific link? Everything I see on Michael Geist's site is highly critical of "Lawful Access", and and consistent with what I've read by OpenMedia -- and Geist's only reference I can find to OpenMedia is a plug for their videos.

  • I'd like to know who are these 2 idiots, who dislike it?

  • Michael Geist's entry for today on his website rips into OpenMedia's inaccurate portrayal of the laws.

You people are being mislead. OpenMedia doesn't know what they're talking about.

  • why u ppl hating harper? facebook is they number 1 spy, they keep all info about u and sell it to advertisers, there goal is to control your life

  • @crazyspy0 if you refuse to share the info with facebook ever, it can't be copied out from there.

  • @crazyspy0 First of all, I never gave FB all of my TRUE info. ie: I gave them a false birthdate...Antone who puts true info over a public forum like facebook is an idiot.

  • i blame the rednecks and scumbags who voted for harper

  • fuck harper

  • Thanks alot dumbasses that voted conservative

  • If you don't want people spying on your ONLINE INFORMATION then keep it OFFLINE. Dumbasses. People think the internet is like the real world. It's NOT. Grow up!

  • @mnagmobile in this day & age to keep all your data offline means you are blocked from 99% of the economy.

Work? Banned. Online banking? Banned. Trading stocks? Banned.

    Ebay? Banned.

You just voted yourself into economic suicide so you can give up your rights instead of fighting for them.

    That's retarded.

How about we use encryption a trillion computers can't break, and we arrest the cops who attempt to spy on us? Yes, I like that much better. Jail time NOW for THEM.

    Grow the FUCK UP yourself

  • THIS is what you get for voting CONSERVATIVE.

So glad I didn't vote for them and Harper.

  • @anakin11380 Liberals and Conservatives play on the same team...it's all just a game.

    ...and you are being played.

  • The law requires ISPs have the ability to monitor you, but police still need to get a warrant from a judge before they can actually do it.

  • @KevinDolin Yes, and this new legislation would remove the need for a warrant or just cause.

  • @KevinDolin You're talking about how it is right NOW. What part of "'lawfull access' will remove the need for a warrant" do you not understand? Or is this just another YouTube troll getting his jollies?

  • @dubq No, I'm talking about what's in the legislation. The police cannot currently get subscriber info without a warrant.

This bill will allow them to get subscriber info without a warrant, but a warrant will still be required to monitor any activity. I suggest you visit Michael Geist's website and read what he was written because it's covered there in more detail than YouTube will allow.

You are not very well informed on the topic.

  • this power structure has gone too far for too long......

  • Its sad that this has not been covered in the main stream media, so many people are unaware!

  • @erocicTheGreat Perhaps mainstream media in Canada has been told NOT to cover it. Which is sad, because if they don't, mainstream media will be govt controlled soon too.

  • @DarkSkyVideo Soon? Media right now is controlled by the government.

  • @erocicTheGreat It's because it's not an obvious money issue (when it really is if you look into it since we'll be paying for it) unlike the UBB thing. "Spy on us all you want, just don't overcharge us for downloading" is the vibe I get from the unwashed masses these days.

  • @dubq Maybe the "unwashed masses" (lame cliche, by the way) are just more informed than you on this subject? Police still need a warrant to monitor you and the same standards apply for obtaining that warrant.

This law requires ISPs have the ability to monitor you, it does not grant the police the power to monitor you without a warrant.

  • @KevinDolin Apparently you don't know too much about the subject, yourself, there Kevin. "Lawful access" eliminates the need for a warrant.

  • @dubq No, dubq, it doesn't, at least not for monitoring. They can obtain subscriber information without a warrant, but they still need a warrant to do any sort of monitoring of your activities.

  • @erocicTheGreat Funny, the CBC's website just posted something about it.

  • @erocicTheGreat Because it is a huge overreaction and not the reality at all.
