@gusisgr All my models get complete build coverage. It's just a matter of when any given model gets built. I don't know when I may build this one. It might be this year, it might be next. Can't say right now.
Okay, I bought mine on sale for $15.00. I started on it, and it's very easy to build. You do have sand the seems off, prime and paint. I may light mine up to. I will need flashing LED lights for 9v. Do you know a where I can buy them? Fry's ?
Probably fry's. I get all mine off ebay from asia. About a nickel to twenty cents each. Blinking leds tend to be at the higher end of that range. But, I'm buying 100 at a time for those prices.
I was disappointed with this kit. It would have been simple to make the head, torso and arms rotate, but they chose to fix them in position. The fins around the back of the head are somewhat uneven and the dome on every single kit I've seen has had a very noticeable stress mark on the lower-left where it attaches to the tree. I even contacted PL hoping to get a better replacement and the one they sent me was just as bad.
I hope you post videos when you get around to building it.
I have the original release, so maybe they corrected the following, but the "robotoid" chest plate is shown upside down in the instructions. Also, Robby never had claws in either of his two LIS appearances, he had the normal 3-fingered hands. Finally, I'm sure you know that the painting guide is wrong about him having a silver face plate. Toss out the guide and watch Forbidden Planet instead. :)
Will do on the vids. Wanna light this one up if I can get close to the show's effect. This new release has both pairs of hands, FP and Twilight zone/lost in space. Don't know if they fixed anything else.
I don't ever recall seeing him with claws instead of hands, even on the Twilight Zone.
If you cut off the pins and cut discs to fit the openings, you could probably make the head and body rotate. Possibly the arms too.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the feet are also much too big. They're much too deep, front to back and should be much more rounded. I know it's done to make him more stable, but it still looks wrong.
Yup. Check my playlist for the two vids of B-9 I did. They are summaries, not wips.
Check my website for him. YT doesn't allow links in the comments, so go to my channel page. In my 'bio' on the left is the site. B-9 is under the Kits link on the side, then the Done link at the top. Scroll down until you see him.
There are plenty of pics and descriptions of the process.
Maximllian from Black Hole also has a simple light setup that is applicable to Robby.
Thanks Matt. I didn't know about the accuracy flaws. I should have researched that better before starting the video. I'll throw that in my build vids when I get to them.
This is really helpful thanks! I now think I'll buy this kit. Just could you maybe post a video of the painting/maybe a build video?
Cheers! Happy Modelling!

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for that. It's usually a long time between review and final video, so the info just isn't in until it's built.

@lurkerrekrul I did see this robot with the claws. I didn't use them on my kit. I am all most finished with mine. The seems one this thing is heavy.

How much was it?

Cool....
I am getting that model too. Would like to see a step by step on painting and the LED option if possible. Do you have B-9 too ?

The kit is an easy build but it has a number of accuracy flaws.
I'll send you the build-up and lighting article I have on this one.
