  • Nice white board!

I really think with the net clearance that Nadal hits on clay, Federer must go for the overhead; once it bounces, it will be a difficult return on the rise.

  • Federer's win at the French Open was immense...OK he did not play Nadal in final but the draw was hardly easy, To play a solid clay courter Acasuso, Haas, Del Porto and Soderling (Monfils as well) that's not an easy draw...Who did Nadal beat to get to the final of US................Youzny....that's it...His draw was easy....

  • Roger Federer is the greatest player, Love Roger

  • very good analyzation. i learned a lot from this thanks:)

  • yeh i would definatly like my coach to show me tacktics on one of those wipe boards

  • anybody know where to find pdf of this board? i want to print it out and discuss tennis with my friend!

simply love your analysis. u said fed is smart, i see that u are smart too!

    Go Lefty!

  • hey same here...I would love if my future coach has his to teach me tactics

  • Love the board!

  • Finland loves this, especially the board :) Keep going!

  • this is the first time i have heard of something so technical in tennis ..... its very nice

the tennis board idea is superb

  • you can use this board to illustrate the different patterns the top players use normally and you can disect their attack patterns( or defense ). kinda like what you did with federer's drop shot. maybe you can even show your viewers (even fed) why he keeps losing to murray nadal etc. keep up the good work coach.

  • The board is great, i like it. I wouldn't mind one for coaching sessions.

  • board is really awesome.

you can really understand it perfectly when you show it that way. keep it up

  • the board rules. federer = G.O.A.T

  • The board is great. Keep up the good analysis!

  • Good analysis, I enjoyed it. The whiteboard is great.

  • I love the board. I am happy that roger won the french open but I wanted to see him beat nadal. As you said Roger has a different strategy against nadal that he showed at madrid open

  • your videos are great KEEp them up!!

  • What you are doing is really interesting ... Please continue doing this, it really helps me to watch the matchs with more analysis ... The bord is great. Go roger

  • wait a second i heard Roger Federer uses a grip between eastern and semi western

  • Board is great. Comment is spot on, all the right moves from Fed are correctly described. Funny that in his own website Federer said, a couple of years ago, that he is not a great fan of dropshot. Well, he changed his mind, and with his talent he used it to perfection, especially against big and heavy guys like Acasuso, Soderling and Del Potro. That's a great weapon on clay because your opponent will almost certainly slide while changing direction in a rush. More so if he's a big guy.

  • Awesome board

  • i like the new board as well...and you are absolutely fantastic...hope hearing your explaination about the wimbledon..cause i am going to london to watch it...

  • federer just won because he is the man, best player ever and sorderling (dont know how to spell it) was just a bit lucky to get to that final.

  • I like the board a lot! Great tool to analyze strategy. Keep it up.

  • Great job ! Please also explain why Nadal is able to beat Federer so many times. It Not not only the great quality of Nadals play, Nadal also knows how to neutralize Feds weapons which work so fine against hardhitters like Safin, Del Potro and Roddick. Against those guys he can recover in a speedy rally with a backhand slice crosscourt onto the others backhand. Against lefty Nadal, this does not work, coz N. can answer with a topspin forehand. So, vs Rafa, Roger has to play more topspin backhand

  • Its hard to try and hit a backhand that is near the height of your head. topspin would be even harder.

  • Right, I agree. Federer is one of the few who can do this. But it is very triring and as a singlehand player, he cant put as much preasure on the ball. An easy answer with a slice crosscourt onto the backhand works against right handers but not against Nadal. Beside the sheer physical difficulty, I would assume, that it is also mentally demanding for Federer to play against Nadal, because he cant play instinctly as he does against righthanders. Vs Nadal, he has to think all the time what to do.

  • This is awesome! Can you do more of these for beginners too?

  • you are realy helping us so mush ..by the way this shirt & the hat thay coolers looks good on you :)

  • wow that tennis board is incredible, i really admire how much money and effort you invest on teaching us about not only technique but also strategy, and all of your aids are awesome, specially the HD slo-mo :) keep up the good work!!

  • wow that whiteboard makes learning this stuff and your analysis so much easier

  • i like the board keep it up. it was very interesting. i really love your youtube page it has been a great help and inspiration to me ever since i began playing tennis

  • keep it up! nice usage of the board. :D

  • great board, it really helps to look at strategy of the players and the analysis is great!

  • Great job, very useful information, thanks for all your videos, they've been of great help!

Great ideea with the board. Perhaps some video insights would be useful, as examples to your indications.

Thanks and looking forward to more videos!

  • Absolutely keep the board. You give excellent advice on Federer's game and while increasing all of our tennis IQ. TYVM

  • excellent! keep up the good work.

  • You were right about Federer's positioning close to the baseline. With all respect to technicalities it also sends a clear signal to his opponents..."Here I am and not gonna take one step back ". Soderling won his 6 mathes on to the final by dictating play all the time.

But in the finals, he was the one chasing the ball all around. I think his comment in the press said it all..He said no one plays as fast as Federer.

Right on the spot with analysis FYB. Good idea with the board. Keep it up..

  • yeah! thats really amazing...keep it going!

  • i liked the board it would be nice if you could add in clips of actual play as examples of what you are saying

  • oh yeah forgot to ask you, who is your pick for wimbledon?

  • get a red board for the clay season and a green board for the grass season :P

  • hey nice board you got there.

very good analysis, keep up the good work we all apreciate it!

  • Excellent.

But if Fed's opponents coaches use your analysis, not good for Fed.

  • Haha yeah, Hey stop giving away Fed's secrets. Actually your analysis with the white board is great, i hope many many more will come.

  • Good board, even better analysis!

  • i think it's a good start. But for some reason, the black pen u use is not effective.

i think u could use white courts and blk pens to make it easier to see. or maybe u can use icons with numbers to indicate the sequence of the shots.

  • I enjoy watching tennis so much more since I started following your analysis. You Rock ! Lucky me got tickets for 2nd week of Wimbledon in the ballot, can't wait.

  • boy i wish my coach has those kind of boards :)

  • you are fucking amazing... great recap!

  • keep up the good work!

  • I like the white board... keep using it...And with federer grip, is he really a eastern? He must use alot of whip with his wrist to generated alll that spin

  • Love the whiteboard. Helps in analyses for us to understand what you are actually referring to. I would also suggest the use of actual 10 second videos from matches that you are analyzing to underscore the observations you make.

  • YOU ARE AMAZING!

  • will your site is becoming a powerhouse with all the great tips, feedback and lessons you give and now including strategic lessons and showing how the pro use tactics such as the drop shot is making you and your site a force to be reckoned with on the tennis online community

  • I love the new board :D

  • sorry i was in too much hurry...lol

  • will you be posting videos for wimbledon too or are u done since the french is over???

  • I think a cool idea might be to have a little cross section at the bottom of a court "side view". that way you could describe certain spins a little better, as well as using it in cunjunction with the quarter angle view to analyze serves

  • Excellent white board use and commentary!

  • Great, instructive video. Thanks!

  • I love your videos, they are very informative. The white board is an excellent prop, it really helps to understand your points much better. Thanks for the awesome review!

  • The idea is pretty cool. Another step forward for you to making fuzzy one of the best webs about tennis.

I´d like you to analize last victory of Federer over Nadal.

    Thanx

  • no please?

  • Please.

  • Soderling had a better chance of winning against Federer if he had played without thinking his inferiority. He said so himself that he couldn't likely beat Roger because he was superior. Great summary though. awesome... 5 stars oughtta do the trick!

  • Robin supriesed me, dident think he would mount to do anything in tennis. /Danny fr sweden

  • Do you use a continental for a drop shot?

  • Love the board. It'll be awesome if you guys decide to do some videos on strategies average players could use as well as analyzing the pros!

  • you have a great understanding of the game and the court board is a great idea. Keep up the good work!!

  • The court board is a brilliant idea!

I think Fed's forehand grip is semi-western, not eastern.

  • Thanks! His grip is really conservative -- if you search for "federer's grip" our video will come up.

  • @FYB2007 I would say that continental on forehands is really conservative -- not eastern.

  • Good stuff. Your videos are really great.

  • simply amazing. love the board too. great review

  • Nice. Tell me more!

  • Board is fantastic !! Good job...makes your commentary even more lucid...Fed's drop shot was the reason he won this year....the missing key to his prior attempts. He should dominate Wimbledon

  • Safina got a beat down. Soderling got a drubbing

  • Good points on Fed's dropshot. Please add a technical video showing the details of Fed's technique on the dropshot both from the forehand or from the backhand side. Thanks

  • ur videos rocks

    white board is awesome

  • Love the concept, Will. Excellent insights on Federer match play as well.

  • awesome whiteboard

  • the whiteboard is great!!...but as others have said a few video clips would make the analysis even better

  • The whiteboard is great!!

A few video clips here and there of the action would be nice too.

  • great board, easy 2 understand

  • I like the board. great way to explain things.

  • dang federer is a genious

  • First in YouTube!!! Very interesting and insightful.

Keep your videos coming FYB, you'r great!

  • very good idea!

  • I love watching your videos...very informative...the white board is a great idea, helps to visualize all the techniques...keep posting more...

  • ya you can c more of what you are talking about great tool

  • i think that using the board its more easy to lern and understand the stategy of the pros that you are doing an analysis ...so good :)

  • I like the fact that you are using the whiteboard. It's a good tool to illustrate the tactics and strategies of the players. It would also be good if you can put some video clips in your anaylsis of the matches.

  • veery nice, thanks!

  • That whiteboard is awesome! I learned alot more by using that white board because it had awesome visualization and I loved it! Keep using it for future analysis like in Wimby and in the U.S.

  • i relly like the board, i think it will be great to analyse games on wimbledon

  • Love the board. But it would be great if you showed some clips to go with your analysis. Great job man. I see you going big with this stuff.

  • Wow, great review! I'm thinking that Federer Might have actually found a away to play successful against Nadal.!

  • Your site is really turning into the best tennis resource on the web. It's great that it's free.

  • Thanks a lot

  • Love the whiteboard, keep up the great analysis

  • the whitebord is top notch. gives great visualisation. One thing you could add is magnets of the players. fx, a magnet with federers face and one with soderling so its more clear who's who. If the whiteboards is magnetic of course.

  • I also notice that Fed has the ability to wait a bit longer before hitting a put away forehand. He likes to let it drop a bit before he strikes. This i rekon gives federer more options decide on where to put the ball away or simply go for the drop shot. So against a guy like nadal where he might even get the ball back with a on the run winner, federer can actually just play it safe with a dropper. I think this keeps players guessing when theyre in that situation.

  • the idea with the whiteboard is pretty good...i think with this board you can imagine those things much better...keep on using this;)

  • this board really helps to understand tactics even better. a very good, helpfull analysis! thank you!!

It would be great if you´d had some little sticker of each player which u could put instead of a S for Soderling or something.

  • Really like the tennis board. Only suggestion would be perhaps the use of different colored pens to illustrate your different shots, movements etc. But whatever you use, all your stuff is brilliant. Thanks a bunch and can't wait for the Wimbledon analysis.

  • loved the tennis whiteboard. like someone else said, incorporate video of federer doing a drop shot (like you were talking about) and the result, then explain it on the whiteboard. however you do it, great job!

  • The board is very helpful. All of the video put out by FYB are terrific. They are actually the only thing I have a subscription to.

  • good analysis.

I'd like to understand more of federer's groundstrokes tactics in his matches if possible.

  • man that bored is well made haha

  • really liked the board. added some great visuals and helped me and probably others understand play styles and strategies a bit more :D

  • Feedback-1: I like it

Feedback-2: Your depiction of the shot options and the PATH of the ball is very nice (I like the curved lines)

Feedback-3: Your presentation could be improved if you used a simple circle or square for the player's position.

  • What you mean is a legend describing some standard modelling elements which make up the drawing. That would make it more clear what is actually depicted on the board when drawing it.

  • Haha this is so gooood! Great analysis!

  • good on the board, maybe include video first then show it on the whiteboard in more depth

  • wow love the tenniswhiteboard analysis. makes it easy to visualize situations.

  • could use some different colored markers in the future so you wouldn't have to erase so many times

  • I love the board! Great analysis!

  • sweet board!

  • thank you Will, great analysis!!! (the board ist perfect)

  • board helped alot great vid

  • This would work a lot better if you could include video clip examples.

  • i believe that is illegal..

  • nice board!

  • Great Board!!!

  • pretty cool dude

  • I like the Tennis board. Its so far looking great for the more indent detail

  • For Wmbledon, you should uses a grass court whiteboard. LOL.

  • you are great....regards from PERU...

  • this is great! keep up the good work =)

  • great analysis, spot on

  • Nice tool. It would be nice if you put some name tags on each baseline so it clear who is one which side.

Using a thicker tip sharpie would be easier to see too.

  • Love the board. Love the analysis.

  • tons more clearer, should analyse it using a tennis game from xbox. ehhe

  • I think the whiteboard is a great idea, and I appreciate the analysis!

  • I love the board. It's a great tool to use in describing play and positioning.

  • nice! whiteboard was relly cool...good to know fed is changing his strategy to fit todays game =)

  • great idea!! And I agree 100% that Federer's drop shot success was mainly due to his understanding of his opponent's momentum/positioning.

  • One question, When is the Wimbildon tournament? I know its near, i am just lazy to surf it.

  • It starts June 22nd.

  • Wow! You Should make it magnetic and use Magnetic picture of tennis players and balls :)! :)

    Great Video!

  • Great job, love the videos, they're a lot of help. The board will help a lot in strategy/tactics.

  • I think it's great.

  • Cool approach! Congratz!

Using printed stickers of player's head could be fun and useful :)

  • Keep this away from Nadal. lol

  • The board made me understand things more clearly. Thanks!

  • Outstanding Will and crew - keep up the good job.

  • The board is brilliant, makes it easy to understand what ur explaining, keep posting these videos!

  • You guys are the best tennis channel! I love the whiteboard!

  • Are you using the whiteboard as a green screen and then overlaying the court? If you're doing this, make sure you change the court to whatever they're playing on! (like someone else said)

I liked how you drew everything out. Very clear and nice job.

  • getting the board was a great idea. Now you can discuss more about strategies.

  • the board is so much more clearer to understand all the different strategies, love it.!

  • I love it! He also got inside of Soderling's head a little because he kept using the drop shot and playing with him, running him around the court since he is so tall and cumbersome. Great vidz make more about Federer and his strategies!!!!!!

  • the board is very good, more understandable!

    vamos rafa!

  • Whiteboard is awesome - different color is a good suggestion. Awesome!

  • Amazing- it's easier to understand with visuals. But don't take my word for it. Here's 80's mainstay Howard Hessman: " I love it." Would Howard Hessman lie for weed? We don't think so.

Haha all kidding aside, I would love to see more of it!

  • i think this is great, i totally agree with the dropshots and its really tough to change the direction of your body.

i think the things you say about the grip are correct, but you can also make GREAT dropshots with an extreme grip, like guillermo coria did on his best times.

    greetings from Argentina.

    Nacho

  • FYB is the best

  • Thanks, I learned a LOT!

  • That's awesome. The use of the board makes it easier to understand.

  • The white board was great! Learned quite a bit

  • The court white board was extreamly helpful in explinations, thanks

  • great idea ... it helps to understand more the movement of the player and the tactics ... great job ...

if you use different colours, it would be more interesting ...

    thanks...

  • Awesome board!!!!!!!...
