In Belgrade took place many competition and you need euqipments for that (exp. stadiums, hotels, public transport etc). In Belgrade was a few world and European basketball championships and once there was european football championships.

I've been living in Yugoslavia / Serbia since I was born and to me, Bekim Fehmiu was a great, full-blooded actor. He was an awesome, larger than life character, may God rest his soul. Also, I've been always deeply aware of his Albanian origin because it was largely emphasised on many occasions because it had to be clear to everybody that Yugoslavia was a country in which all the ethnic groups had the same rights. It was soooo irritating... Oh, and the right question is why YOU are here ... :)

Look, I really don't care about Bekim Fehmiu. Serbia has many great actors and distinguished film workers some of which have made a great international career. As far as Fehmiu is concerned, he graduated on the Belgrade Film Academy from 1956 to 1960 with professor Mata Milosevic (a Serbian). In 1967 he achieved his greatest professional success with the Yugoslav film "I even met happy Gypsies" directed by a Serbian director. Fehmiu lived and worked with the Serbs, not the Albanians.

Bekim Fehmiu lived and worked in Serbia, not Albania, so he was a Serbian actor. Karl Malden was of the Serbian origin, but he was an American actor, not Serbian. It would be stupid to say that Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are the Italian actors, wouldn't it?

I've been living in Yugoslavia / Serbia since I was born and to me, Bekim Fehmiu was a great, full-blooded actor. He was an awesome, larger than life character, may God rest his soul. Also, I've been always deeply aware of his Albanian origin because it was largely emphasised on many occasions because it had to be clear to everybody that Yugoslavia was a country in which all the ethnic groups had the same rights. It was soooo irritating... Oh, and the right question is why YOU are here ... :)

And regarding his international career, he wasn't nearly as successful as he was in Yugoslavia (Serbia). "His American début in a starring role with a huge, star-studded, international cast backing him up was poorly acted and the epic film a complete misfire. The Adventurers (1970) ruined any chances for Fehmiu to achieve similar stardom in Hollywood."... So much about "the dragon".

We may be wrong, but that's what we believe in. Something I find funny with Serbs and you in particular. When you were trying to push him as a Serb he was absolutely marvelous. Whereas faced with facts and he became Albanian he was not marvelous anymore, he mas a misfire and everything else. :o)

Look, I really don't care about Bekim Fehmiu. Serbia has many great actors and distinguished film workers some of which have made a great international career. As far as Fehmiu is concerned, he graduated on the Belgrade Film Academy from 1956 to 1960 with professor Mata Milosevic (a Serbian). In 1967 he achieved his greatest professional success with the Yugoslav film "I even met happy Gypsies" directed by a Serbian director. Fehmiu lived and worked with the Serbs, not the Albanians.

Why some of you seem to care what he was? He was a human being who loved other human beings regardless of their nationality . Maybe we should learn a lessen or two from him. Yes, he was Albanian and I am too, but I am sick to death with all the hate between the Serbs and Albanians here on youtube. Bekim was a great artist, and hate and ignorance hasn't got place in ART. So; for the sake of his soul - politician views and stupidity should be flushed down the toilet.

Bekim Fehmiu lived and worked in Serbia, not Albania, so he was a Serbian actor. Karl Malden was of the Serbian origin, but he was an American actor, not Serbian. It would be stupid to say that Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are the Italian actors, wouldn't it?

@hristosanesti No, that's not true at all. Bekim Fehmiu, if you must, played in more Italian, French, Spanish or American films than in Yugoslav ones (He never played in a Serb movie). You cannot chain a dragon my friend. He was not you village artist but an international fury :o)
