Hey Ben, pretty good to put the 250 lb. log in at the top of the diversion channel and then run down to get on top of the temporary bridge to film the log floating downstream :-) Where did you get the log from? There are places to take out along the left bank with about a 2-3 foot high ledge/bank if you knew what was coming, or they could have posted/signed and easily graded a place for take out.
The log was sitting just upstream from the diversion channel, part of a stack of logs cleared by a bulldozer. A couple end over end heaves and it was in the water. Had to wait about a minute for it to slowly reach the lip of the diversion channel. It hit the diversion channel pillar with a loud thud and spun around 180 degrees. Not very interesting really but shows that someone in a canoe does not have much of a chance unless they steer hard right.
