I can't believe it!!! I just watched this on DVD... And thought to myself let me do a lil research online about the film... I am totally shocked to see that they left out so many scenes from the film... If they didn't cut out so much. this film could of matched up to 'Breakin'. I hear the reason they cut so much out was that they wanted to try release beat street before breakin... So they cut it short.. However they failed... and breakin made it on big screen first.

Well Mr.Wiggles who danced in Beat Street said in an interview that a union artist did the graffiti for Beat Street and that he really didn't do a good job and I agree. Compare the graffiti in Beat Street to that in Wild Style. Wild Style's grafiiti was real.

I know the film incredibly well, at least 15 clips in this trailer are not in the film at all, it looks as though many of them come from the same scenes. Suprisingly several of the major scenes are not shown in the trailer at all.

Beat, released on Orion Video, 1983, is a rarity and was deleted in the late 80's to my knowledge it has not as yet been released on DVD in the UK, not sure about USA. The film was always considered to be, by those who were part of the scene back then, the 'real' film about Hip Hop culture of which I was a part.
