In this show the cruiser (the galactica) is really powerfull. It can take on a few dozen fighters without fighter support. And that is one of the things I really love about this show.
This is one of the few battleships I really call a battleship.
The funniest part is that it still carries (way) more fighter then most ships in other shows do.
There's one reason alone - endurance. Fighter sized vessels usually lack range and endurance of larger vessels. So, versatile (i.e. balanced) fleet requires various types of vessels - for instance, it's better to have one cruiser on time and on site rather than many more fighters missing time or place.
That's why I liked USS Voyager in ST - versatile, high-endurance frigate, backbone of every fleet.
Any creature if she, he, (it?) is intelligent...wants to be free and powerfull in consciousness, space of living, increase their possibilities, have more evolutional possibility...any master is an inspiration to be other and better with their own way of adaptation in the universe, the rest is a question of circumstancies...many hearts are burning in the sky with giant thirsty souls waiting for their source.
here's what I dont get: are there shields on ships in this universe? I always assumed so for battlestars but then hear all the crap about flak barriers- obviously compensation for lack of shield generators, yet on the basestar at 2:44 you CLEARLY see a VERY premature detonation, it seems, of that KEW's shells. anyone elaborate? Regardless, AWESOME video, rammstein fits well.
@gunslinger6792 They're robots, they think faster harder and are more flexible then humans, that's if you take their Turing inhibitor off though (search it up). A good example is to look at the calculator it does math that is usually impossible (or just takes to long) for a normal person to do.
I don't know why we can't just have the batttle with the sounds the creators worked so hard to make (as they were great) instead of youtube being packed with 'music videos' . No offense to the channel here but seriously I can't find a single battle without added music.

@ufsantaris555 I belive it's when they are at their most remote resupply station (Rangor I think, correct me if I'm wrong). This is the scene when they have decided to run and leave the colonies behind. The Galactica is covering until all civilian ships have made the FTL jump.
@ufsantaris555 Holding action at Ragnar, some of the best beginning scenes with the cannons doing flak cover for the retreating civilian fleet, I think nukes hit the Gal too.

Personally, Im not a huge fan of the music, BUT it couldn't have worked better for this video! I don't understand why anyone doesn't think it did. It was almost perfectly in sync with the video itself, slower, quieter parts at slower non-action scenes, and the main, louder chorus at the action sequences. 5 stars mate, I loved it.
i'm no fan of Rammstein at all, but liked how the music was in synch with the video. Indeed the german lyrics don't match with the video, agreed. But there is alot of crap on youtube, and this isn't one of it by far! Well done, watched till the end!

In most shows, cruiser ships look really lame and weak.
A few fighter can take out the entire ship which always makes me wonder:
Why build them? The only reason I can think of, is that they can fly further and longer.
A cruiser mostly takes on over 200 crewmembers, a fighter 1,2 sometimes 3.
Which means that a cruiser should be at least 50 times stronger to lose the same ammount of pilots (when blowing up) as a fightergroup would.
So, in most shows. Cruisers cost more lives.

Imagine where we'll be in another 300 years (I don't prescribe to this doomsday mentality that so many in the West have been consumed by due to the current economic crisis -- which is nothing more than the downward part of a natural economic cycle which has played out since the beginning of Capitalism itself.)

a lot can happen in as little as a few hundred years, it only took 300 years for britian to go from a small island to conquering over a quarter of the world
so its entirely possible that in 200 or 300 years people in america would be thought of as the country that leads the world into new scientific and medical dscoveries rather than the country that is believed to be built on weapons and fat filled fast food

Just because we don't have the broadest healthcare coverage doesn't mean we don't have the most advanced and highest quality healthcare. Personally, Im not a huge fan of the music, BUT it couldn't have worked better for this video! I don't understand why anyone doesn't think it did. It was almost perfectly in sync with the video itself, slower, quieter parts at slower non-action scenes, and the main, louder chorus at the action sequences. 5 stars mate, I loved it.

i'm no fan of Rammstein at all, but liked how the music was in synch with the video. Indeed the german lyrics don't match with the video, agreed. But there is alot of crap on youtube, and this isn't one of it by far! Well done, watched till the end!
