  • I am so happy that I was able to see him live in Austin in 1997 literally weeks before he died. I was only 11 at the time, but the memory of that concert is a dear one that I will cherish forever. I grew up on his music because my parents are big fans, and I will play John Denver for my kids, too. We miss you, John, but you're going to live forever.

  • Good nite Annie...

  • We miss you John!

  • In 1976 I was just five years old when my parents took our family on a three-month trip out west. Over thousands of miles of highway, John Denver's 8-track tapes played 'til they were nearly worn through. I feel blessed beyond measure that many of my earliest memories are of the love of my family experiencing the outdoors, John Denver's music describing the same, and the stunning scenery of the American west.

  • @500swim1 What a great heartlifting comment ! May your God go with you.

  • This was played on 9 Feb 1979 at the wedding of my late wife and I by friends, Corky and Terri, Corky has since passed through the veil as has my wife but like then now it still brings tears to my eyes to hear it again.

  • @GnonplussedGnome We all have the memories of lost ones because of J D and his way with words. Thanks as always!!

  • JD you just don't know how you influenced my life through your music. When I was a kid in the 70s I always love to hear your music in a juke box near in our house. Though I love also Beegees, beatles, elton john, lobo, bread, neil diamond, neil young, eagles at hat time but you were unique and heartwarming. You give soul, emotion, and heart to your songs that always moves me until know. I really dearly miss u, it is very heart wrenching that you left us. RIP & 14344JD.

  • This was literally the first concert I saw with my Aunt, my Mom, AND my Grandmother. My Aunt snuck in a tape recorder...and all she captured was me singing every single song :-) That memory, and all of JD's songs mean the world to me til this day :)

  • i am a kid from 12 years old and his my hero

  • good song

  • I always liked this although I never knew the reason why JOHN wrote it...

Now I know that John and Annie had a big conflict and he wrote it down in ten minutes on a ski lift and after that they agreed for some time.

Just the meaningfullst LoveSong I think.

He will live in our hearts WITHOUT THE 12 PEOPLE WHO DISLIKED THIS VID.

  • Tell me, How in the hell could anyone dislike this song? One of the best songs ever written

  • ten dislikes...ten stupids...from spain

  • ♫♪ I hadn't heard this song in a long time; so I looked it up tonight, and it was good to hear it again! My late husband used to call me "Annie" (my middle name is Ann) and he would sing this to me a lot, we both loved the song (and many others by John Denver, at the time, too). He was a very talented singer/songwriter, (and another one that was "gone too soon")! ♫♪

    Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ R.I.P. John Denver Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

  • @DesertAnnie Gone too soon.....I had the oppertunaty to go and see him,my boy friend and I, in Brussels, but something stupid came up and we said next time.Even when it would be in Londen or Paris we should go then. But what we didn't know that it was John's last performance we have mist.So We will never gonne hear this wonderfull and unique voice live.So my boy friend keeps reminding me eversince by putting on Annie's song folowed by leaving on a jet plaine.........Greatings from Belgium.

  • My senses are filled. Thank you john.

  • wonderfull

  • Well folks that's how you play this tune...from the horse's mouth. Drop yer "D" and get to it. Lovely.

  • how I miss you John... every time I hear your beautiful voice... I cry many tears. You're a guy I truly miss to see... God really loved you twice: gave you such a talent, and took you from us so soon. We did not deserve you. Only paradise deserves you. I know you are happy now, I know you are where you deserve to be. I don't need to say "rest in peace". You have been all your life pure peace. We love you!

  • Pure beauty

  • Hatte das grosse Glück ihn 1984 live in Berlin zu erleben. Heute plagt mich die

Gicht, aber seine Songs werden niemals älter!

  • Music at its best!

  • Sure some people dislike this. But who'd hate a monkey for not understanding Shakespear?

  • @angryfrogwithagun dude, we cant hate everybody.nice comment.

  • How do we go from classics like this to garbage like Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Justin Bieber......

  • Comment removed

  • @DanANewt exactly... I ask myself the same question daily!

  • Autotune.

  • 9 people don't suck, their fingers just happened to slip. Everyone can unintentionally click the wrong button, but no one can dislike the heaven on earth, John Denver.

  • Tear's flow from the mountain's. The oceans are a little more blue. The woods, and the wildlife long to have their old friend back. You were nature's best friend, John. -._.-

  • I love listening to gifted singers.

  • Lovely...please check out my duet version on guitar at "Pipixcan69"

  • So beautiful,,, I have drops in my eyes right now

  • Someone asked what key he is playing in. He's fingering the song in the key of D, but capo-ed up two frets makes the actual key the key of "E", assuming he is tuned to "standard". It appears he's playing a Guild F512 12 string.

  • He has a capo on the 2nd fret doesn't he? Which key is he playing the song in here, I can't figure it out?

  • ::its hard to find nowadays song like dis..haha, im in my 20's, for crying out loud...!!::

  • This is a lovely song it reminds me of my dogs.

  • This is a true love song....

  • Absolute LEGEND !

  • This is one of the best songs ever composed

  • One of the most beautiful country songs ever

  • @Farewelltoarms88 Not Country. It's a Folk song.

  • @Farewelltoarms88 This one's a bit more folky though...

  • how do accurately you finger-pick a TWELVE-string!?

  • @TheJayman213

The strings are paired, so it's basically like a six-string.

However, it is a lot harder.

    RIP, John Denver.

  • @TheJayman213 it`s called practice..alot of it.

  • Check out

    "Beamer Country Roads"

    Talent young singer / songwriter

    recently opened for Shane Yellowbird

He is 8 years old -

  • we miss you john. Thumbs up if u miss him and wanna kill the dislikers.

  • Where did you get this performance? I've been looking for the full concert video of this for a while, for his performance of bells of rhymney.

  • @tacotank10 nevermind, found it... thanks!

  • Thank you for posting this amazing song.........

  • i can perform like this i will continue the trend of john denver ..... i have that power i can beat any voice ...... real melodic ....... but this song makes me cry....... tooo many memories...... :'(

  • Sometimes we put ourselves inside the song, sometimes the put himself inside us, but which ever it is we experience we it case of this song, Its the soundtrack of our lives.

  • one of the most beautiful lovesongs ever written

  • i like him,,,,,i dont get why the booze & drugs,, what a pity

  • you left this world much to soon, John; rest in peace!

  • This song is just amazing. i can listen to it over and over again and never get tired of it, it gives me chills every time i hear it.

  • John Denver has many good songs, but non of them reach this kind of value.

  • This is one of my all time favorite ballads. My collection of music runs from , John Denver to Judas Priest, Moody Blues to Rush, Queensryche to Dan Fogelberg, Johnny Cash to Black Sabath.......... I love them all. When my BEST freind died 2 days after seeing him at his house, he had Hodgekin's Disease and was (supposedly) getting better, Silent Lucidity played on the radio as the Funeral detoured (by request) past his house. I was crying so hard,my wife had to take the wheel. Music is POWERFUL!

  • John Denver STILL blows away so many today. I grew up hearing this man sing, and I'm glad I did.

  • seriously, who the fuck dislikes this song???

  • @juanito88k seriously,your mama dislikes this song ;-)

  • @juanito88k Hip Hot Fans?

  • @juanito88k Those who cant sing or can appreciate great music

  • @juanito88k The dirty dozen apparently do

  • @juanito88k there are people on this world, who dislikes everything. They even dislikes themselves. These peole ruins our world which we built on positive emotions.

  • he is one of a kind. i don't think you can put him in a genre as far as music because he isn't really country, folk, or any other kind, he just stands alone in his own class. you are greatly missed john. if you ever see Hank Williams in heaven, tell him i said hi

  • Nice Job....I have done a duet version...check out Pipixcan69

  • I love him!!! he just ahh *swoons*

  • No one could do this like John. To anyone who doesn't appreciate this..... well, I'll be nice. GO AWAY~

  • Thanks for posting this - I miss John and his wonderful voice.

  • I'll always be amazed of this song of John.

  • Take note, music listeners of today. This is what a real voice sounds like. Before that autotune shit, people had to actually be able to sing.

  • What a lovely song!

  • @BlueSilverStars True that true that, to bad that times change

  • Where have you gone?

  • Absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

  • 8 people really don't know what LOVE sounds like... Denver Heaven :-)))

  • Thank you for posting this beautiful piece. Brings back some memories.

  • @bigjack940 i support you

  • I feel like I've lived in a cave for most of my life. I knew about John Denver but I had never heard him singing. It was 2 years ago when it happened for the first time. It was then, when I instantly petrified, I just stood there seemingly without any emotions. In my body and mind, however, I felt sensations I had never experienced before. The voice was so vivid, almost alive. I was happy, I felt free.. it was ethereal.

  • Mein Lieblingslied überhaupt..... Schöne Erinnerungen an eine tolle Zeit.

R.I.P. John Denver we never forget you!

  • he went through a period of pain and personal anguish. Does anyone know when that was. I've noticed emotion really brings out the spirit of a song.

  • @weirdguy75 JD went thorugh various "down" times. The worst was probably in '82 when Annie asked him for the divorce and his dad also died around that time. Pretty low time and not long after that he was dropped by RCA after being their top selling artist in the 70's. Talk about a pin in your balloon. Also when he split from Cassandra Delaney in '91 he went through a down time and then of course the two DUI's he had just a yr apart which were bad too.

  • @puck57 I'm guessing the excessive drinking was a result of his personal pain. Either way thank you for the reply.

  • @weirdguy75 Well JD's dad Dutch was an alcoholic so alcholism ran in the Deutschendorf clan. Certainly the stuff JD went through only made the alcohol issue worse but it wasn't till the last few yrs he took control of his alcohol problem and got counseling. By the way there was NO alcohol or drugs in JD when he crashed which was always brought up after he crashed. JD had demons like all of us do and had to confront them- especially after the second DUI.

  • John was such a great performer that we often overlook how incredible he was as a song writer. Beautiful lyrics seemed to flow from him.

  • 8 people suck for disliking this song. Apparently they have no taste for good music. RIP John Denver, we will miss you!

  • @oporciuncula have been missing already.....

  • @oporciuncula I agree with you. He was an awsome person, singer and enterainer. I know I several people who miss him since his untimly death.

  • @oporciuncula Your best defense is to not acknowlede negitive people. John sings loud to the world and positive people and that's the why we love him.

  • This song makes me sad because I'm so lonely with no love to call my own.:-(

  • @iw32

Live with love and love will come to you. Best wishes!

  • @AnthonyW65 Thank you very much for your kind words.Same to you!

  • absolute class!

  • I miss you my dearest John! Hope to see you in Heaven one day :)

  • einfach wunderbar, dieser Song!

  • John Denver macht schon tolle Musik.

    Grüße sendet

    Bert

  • Tomorrow is Henry's birthday. Happy birthday, Henry.

  • i can't believe i liked this crap when i was a kid. give me the Sex Pistols over this any day!

  • @andywarstarforever

    I love the Pistols, but...

When you want an apple, an orange just won't do!

*This* is as beautiful as music gets.

  • THIS IS MUSIC!!

  • John didn't seem to lose a fraction of his vocal abilities as the years went by. He was, and still is, one of the best singers I've ever heard. John's playing, singing and song writing were simply peerless.

  • These people are the true Gods... with a capital 'G'
