I am from eastern Canada and I know for a fact that seals are not endangered (ie the advert i saw on cnn over the past week) there are 20 times as many seals in eastern canada than there are human beings, it would be like telling new zealand to stop killing sheep, or america to stop killing cows, pigs, chickens and ducks.
very true. i do understand both sides now. For example, your point, as well as the amount of seals vs how many get slaughtered as well as that the animal activists keep showing the cute white seal pups and not the actual adults that they club. im also sure some young pups get hurt, abandoned and even killed but the majority that are slaughtered are adults cause white coats are illegal. etc etc. though my opinion, is a differnt story.
maybe your teacher was trying to get you to look at both sides of the story and find out the truth about the canadian seal hunt rather than just listening to whatever propaganda that so called "animal rights groups" shove in everyones faces.
you can just listen to one side of the story and you have to take everything with a grain of salt. all those brutal seal hunt videos? you have no idea how many of those have actually been made BY the animal rights groups so they get publicity.
it waaaas to get him back for making me do that assignment. i had no choice but to do the ad, so he had no choice but to beat the "seal".(which was really bugs bunny) he understood the irony. it was funny watching him do it. but yes i do understand your point, and this me explaining mine. you will not understand because you were not in my class and wouldnt want to be put in that situation.

i think its the whole debate about whether animals are more important than humans. which is a tough one.
