  • NOTHING IS TRUE EVERYTHING IS PERMITTED

  • The assertion that "there is no universal truth or falsehood" is in itself an assertion of a universal truth, is it not? ;)

  • Most or all people perception is base on their life experience....

  • This and part 2 is so true very nice

  • you said "there is no universal truth" that means wut u said wasnt true.

  • I'm inspired.

    Thanks.

  • lol im having trouble continuing to watch this, but I will leave you with this comment.

you said no perception is correct or incorrect, yet you assert that when you assume without full knowledge of a situation you are making judgments on a foundation of false premises, therefore you are destined to make an incorrect perception.

You are also working against heuristics that people use every day which function without our complete control. You should look into the fundamental attribution error.

  • Okay, this is gonna be long, so kudos to you if you get through it all -

You want to hear some feedback, well here's mine -

When you say "there is no universal truth" you are actually proposing that statement as a UNIVERSAL TRUTH! That is a plain old contradiction.

That cup of water is half full/half empty, but if I said there was no water in there, I would be wrong.

  • 2+2=4 and NO OTHER NUMBER, whether I "perceive" that to be true or not. For example, rape is always wrong, and we inherently know that.

There are certain things in this world we SHOULD and MUST hate and be INTOLERANT of. We have to be intolerant of things that are wrong.

You seem to subscribe to the old "Why can't we just get past our differences and all just get along"...

    Cont'd next post...

  • Well, do you "get along" with rapists? or neo-nazis?

Of course not! Because those activities are wrong!

No matter how much we might like the idea of "relating" to one another and "living in peace", right and wrong/true and false still matter.

  • It's been said, "Never judge a book by it's cover; instead, judge a book by it's words."

I can know right and wrong by listening to the words of Jesus Christ, because by looking into Him, I have found that He is worthy of trust, aka "trustworthy"

I am sickened by mainstream christianity for shying away from speaking out about what they say they believe.

  • Anyway, you might read this and not like what I have to say, but like he says in the video, I would just ask you to get over your own "prejudices" and have an "open mind" to the possibility that you could be missing the truth

  • You may believe someone is dead wrong in what they say, but please, whatever it is, hash it out and try to find the TRUTH without some silly pretense of "tolerance and open-mindedness" about things that you know are either right or wrong. At that point you can actually get somewhere.

BTW, I guess you'll have to scroll down and work your way up from my first post for this to make sense. THANKS and take care!!!

  • where's my post?!

  • Good point on the manipulation of information. Its a good idea to avoid wallowing long in one's own opinion/sphere of interest.

Morality and perceptions are arbitrary, aside from basic principles hardwired into hum0ns, such as Gestalt. Ethics are decided by the ones with authority.

As for misjudging hum0ns and feeling guilty...what is this "guilt?" =P Best to avoid unnecessary emotionalism. Why feel guilty if you can't change what happened anyway? Just learn from the mistake.

  • Guilt occurs when a person realizes they lied/mad a mistake, and their personal ethics are telling them that they should feel bad for doing so.

  • lol, personal ethics? Crap. I knew I forgot something...

No matter! Morality is overrated anyway. Now, where are those small children I was scheduled to steal candy from?

  • if you filled it and emtied half the water out of the cup it would be half empty if you filled the cup half way it would be half full if you don't know just say so

  • You know i agree people just tend to overlook and misjudge quickly without putting realisium in fornt of them. A lot of people can learn from you.

  • thanks!

  • It's half empty, I'm pessimistic. I never think like everyone else if I did I would probably love pink and hip hop but it's not for me.

  • Hahahaha. Yeah hip hop is alright. I personally think a lot of it is crap now. I mean old school hip hop was great, now its SEX, MONEY, DRUGS, BITCHES, EGOS, and RAPPING ABOUT THEMSELVES IN THIRD PERSON using the same repeated beat throughout the song. Lol.

  • Yeah, Hip Hop Rap's getting lazy.

  • I agree, old school hip hop and rap actually talked about life struggles but nowadays all it talks about is materialistic things, it sucks!

  • Yup, all those things I mentioned is all they sing about.

  • dude this is such great work, im going to bring up this subject in my psychology class

  • thanks :)

  • right on, dude! :)

  • of course some people find a creativity to see new perceptions such as "it half full either way, either it's half full of water or half full of air" :D

  • Agree!!

Don't believe everything someone tells you

    Think for yourself!!

    Ignorance is still ignorance.

    I love this video....

  • double post but

this video reminds me of something.

It's like you made this vid for me. rofl.

    I can't wait for part 2

  • Someday things that might be thought to be false will be proven as true and things that were thought to be true will be proven to be false.

Remember when people thought the world was flat...

  • JP from PDX here: IMO, we should keep in mind that people's reasoning is limited, and so are people's range of perceptions. That is even more reason to learn to respect a different opinion, because there will be some that will NEVER agree with you point of view - and it will challenge you to accept that person's way of thinking.

  • yo, forfun808, nice job! excelleeeent!

  • wow ur smart lol

  • Well said. I agree with you 100%!!!

  • True, I'm always looking for the best in everyone and respecting their opinions all the same.

  • autonomy is great but self-correction is more important. Maybe that's another part of autonomy. Great video. The world can't get along since reasoning is sealed off instead of violence. Afterall, violence ensures you're "right" regardless of how poor your evidence is.

  • Kinison - I love that last sentence in your comment. I'll remember that, good quote! Did you create it?

  • as a matter of fact, yeah. I also remember a similar quote from that 90's Spider-Man cartoon by the Prowler, "Whoever has the power makes the rules."

  • It's stuff like yours that keeps me coming to this website, and reassures me that not everyone in the world is a selfish, moronic idiot. Your advice is sincerely and immensely appreciated, and I could not thank you enough for it. If I ever find that book that paraparajmo mentioned, I would absolutely pick it up in a heartbeat.

    Five stars. :)

  • Your teacher persona is very down-to-earth and empathetic/sympathetic, and, even more amazingly, you use an ELITE level of vocabulary, but you do not come off as arrogant, pretentious or conceited... just a kind, caring young man who wants to improve the conditions of the world, and liberate all of our youth and smart adults. Much like Melle Mel and Chuck D. did for hip hop and rap way back in the day.

  • Aww thanks :)

  • No problem. I'm speaking in these terms and complimenting you for real, dude. I mean that VERY sincerely, truly, ultimately and finally. :)

  • Wow... dang. paraparajmo wasn't kidding. You are, hands down, the most intelligent, relevant, eloquent, knowledgeable, wise, understanding and realistic YouTuber that I have ever met. I don't say this flatteringly or lightly; you absolutely have the potency of an incredible linguistics professor.

  • I believe some evolutionist wrote a book on this and how people have 3 selves: The self you perceive yourself, the self people look at you, and the self you're trying to be.

  • Wow great video ^_^

  • I got that question back in high school.

  • Good stuff. I know someone who could take this advice.

  • you know who

  • Amen, Aron. I try to see both sides and choose what I see is most logical.

  • Perhaps the cup is to big!?

  • lol maybe!

  • Tag: "community"

    There is no community..

  • But anyways, Good thing for flamers to watch.

  • and fan boys to watch

  • As long as people are able to form independent thoughts and religion exist people will never really respect other peoples perception.I know i don't have any respect for the Islam religion. Religion is truly the devils greatest achievement.

  • Interesting. Great video.

  • Very well thought out. Great video, 5 stars.
