  • face it science is more interesting than religion

  • @boogiebuddy01 and more logical

  • @shreddernuo Typical Christian response to reasoning. Since you attack science for deaths it has caused, you should defend religion for deaths it caused as well. Please tell me how Christianity helped human kind during the Crusades. Tell me how it helped the Native Americans during western expansion of the US.

  • @shreddernuo Yeah, keep blaming science while you type on your computer, drive your car, and eat your genetically enhanced foods. I can live without religion, can you live without science?

Next you will be trying to convince me that dinosaurs roamed the earth at the same time as humans, and that evolutionary theory is complete nonsense.

The world is more than 6,000 years old buddy. There is a living tree in Sweden that is over 9,000 years old, explain that.

  • @shreddernuo Yes, science is theory-based, however science can be tested and proved. Religion can not.

Who are you to say that human kind has gone nowhere in terms of morality? What life form are you comparing humankind to? Exactly, you have no comparison, therefore you can not say it has not made and progress.

RELIGION STARTS WARS, SCIENCE ENDS THEM

  • Christian fundamentalists are wetting their pants right now. The big bang theory is about to take another HUGE step toward becoming fact.

  • "Critics say the $9 billion dollar project is a doomsday machine that could destroy the planet. They fear the experiment could generate black holes that could gobble up the earth"

I LOL'd, wonder where these folks are now.

  • Has the big bang already happened, and am I still here. If the risks envolved, nclude the planet earth exploding, where is here. So where am I. Is here still in existence or is it now somewhere else. What happened? If earth fractured, am I on on segment flying through space. All appears normal looking out side my window. But that doesn't mean Switzerland still exist. How can NE1 B sure the country next door is still there. I know that on the 9th of February I still existed. But where?

  • "They like to take all this money from sin, build big universites to study in, sing 'Amazing Grace' all the way to the Swiss banks"- Bob Dylan ("Foot of Pride")

  • Good work project, I'd love to join you

  • os adultos a brincar aos cientistas e a gastar o dinheiro de todos.....

  • $1.05 trillion dollars have been allocated to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan from USA without adding all the dead Americans and Arabs, because human life is priceless, but scientist spent 6 billion dollars to get us to a whole new level of technology, like the one that today allow us to have hot shower in Alaska, fresh fish in Arizona, our grandfathers live a decade longer with a fake heart or even having internet to whine international with others, seriously humans can really be stupid

  • @Pappyroys yeah, they say durring ww2, that humans progressed about 15-20 years of average peacetime technology in under 5 years, because we wer motivated to do so, so my question is, what would it take for humans to be motivated to do the same, but instead of building guns and bombs and warfighting equipment, they make new medicine, renewable energy and food sources, and spacecraft, things that will actually perserve human life instead of destroying it, your right, as a species, we are insane

  • @101andrewj I'm not praising the act of war, i'm pissed with the viewers of this video that complaining about the cost of the particle accelerator without even thinks that it costs only 6% of the actual cost of war in Afghanistan and Iraq, if i were an American i would be furious with the cost of this wars, even if i were Nationalist, Militaristic or Patriot, which im not

  • @Pappyroys im not american, but you are deffently right. 1 example, how can obama scrap the moon base plans because it costs 100 billion a year, and keep the US navy, who gets 200 billion a year, and hasnt been in a naval battle sence 1945... comon.. navys are so stupid, its the future, cut the fuckin budget in half and give the money to nasa for a moon base, something that is actually worth building... just 1 example of how america is fucking dumb, lead the world by example, not by force

  • @101andrewj I'm not supporting either Democratics nor Republics but the president of US is merely a pawn of the military and other corporations that create weapons or trade oil, if China, Russia or Europe announce plans for making an Base in Moon, States will rush to do so before any other, it's simple that USA feels no competition, remember cold war and USSR, Kennedy rushed to put a flag in moon in a mission that had no meaning at all, i think you right, technology is made for wars...

  • @Pappyroys yeah, its sad, but its our nature to kill and destroy, and until we find some aliens or something to fight and unite against, we will be killing eachother

  • @101andrewj Naval battle? Do you even know anything about what the navy does or how big it is? And how is a base on the moon going to be any more useful than military ships

  • @Rstar095 naval battles are when 1 boat fights another boat... and the us navy hasnt been in one of those sence the imperial japanese navy was fucking around... yet to this day, the us navy gets 200 billion dollars a year, and in terms of tonnage, its larger then the next 13 largest navys in the world put together, and 11 of these countrys are US allies... US is retarded, war based country with its head up its ass as to what should be the real goals of humanity

  • @101andrewj The navy is there for so much more other than naval battles, and the reason we havent been in a battle is because no one is stupid enough to fuck with our boats.

  • @Rstar095 no, you have no industrial enemys, plenty of people are stupid enough to fuck with your boats, they just dont have navys... the US navy is for 1 thing only, invasions... if the USA had no need to invade, they could cut navy spending by 90% and still be most powerful in the world

  • @101andrewj I would show you a bunch of things the navy is there for other than "naval battles" I really don't feel like it so you can look it up yourself. And you never answered how a moon base would serve any purpose

  • @Rstar095 america knows exactly what its doing... and that is trying to lead the world by force, not by example... and at this they arnt bad, they get the job done... im just saying theres better, more efficient, effective, and profitable ways of leading the world while also causing less damage to it

  • @Rstar095 unless we want to die, eventually, we will need to expand into space... and a moon base is the obvious start... the real question is. why do we need dozens of multi billion dollar nuclear powered boats... this is the 21st century... dont you think navys are a little out dated.... your goals are imperialistic, not progressed based... and thats why you want navys, because you prefer to invade some other part of the world instead of trying to find new ones

  • @101andrewj again you fail to mention that the navy has more fundamental uses other than "naval warfare" and when have i mentioned anything about imperialism, isn't a good defense the opposite of imperialism? And when was the last time America was just invading some country for the sake of imperialism? I think the last time was with hawaii or the phillipines, and they were telling us to take over their government

  • @Rstar095 yeah, because iraq was deffently not more recent then the phillipines a hundred years ago... america deffently had no imperialistic plans there right? plz tell me, because i cannot see the reason, if your navy is larger then the next 13 biggest navys, and 11 are allies? what could possibly be your future goal other then war with your allies if you continue to spend money and expand the US navy when there is NO logical reasons for continuous exponential growth

  • @101andrewj Alright I will let you live with your ignorance. You are smarter than me and all those other people and America has no idea what they are doing

  • "Create conditions not seen since the first billionth of a second after the big bang" - LOL!!! Who saw it for it to be seen? The only thing that this madness will prove is that we don't know anything about physics. "Some scientist believe that microscopic black holes may be generated" What? Did anyone ask if I would like to die because of this experiment? These people will never find what they're looking for because, like children, they don't see beyond their own ego.

  • is it me or does the guy narrating this sound like the male version of miss piggy from the Muppet's?

  • lol... and you know what i'm talking about

  • now, what if the first big bang started cuz a buch of dumb beings started smashing particals together 17 billion years ago abd wiped out there universe 2 make ours. makes u think

  • @mikewegrzyn1 its highly unlikely X D

  • lol got Big Gay Al to do the narration.

  • The narrator is such a tool.

  • The collider when it was first turned on had a "Minor" problem that has taken over a year to correct. It was recently turned on in Early November 2009 to find that it heated up a bit quicker than expected and the protons were able to travel fgaster than previously thought. It was then turned off when someone realised that they had dropped their ham sandwich inside of the tunnel and it was overheating the machine. " It has now become the worlds largest and most expensive Microwave Oven."

  • @stonepound0

    Cool Story

  • one more comment. this narrator is one of the worst I have ever heard. it begins to piss me off.

  • he emphasizes words wrong and stutters thru words... truly the worst narrator on the planet. how did he get to do the smartest experiment on the planet? makes you wonder....

  • @bnimph10 who is this guy? He narrates like a poopy mouth

  • what happen to these $9b project? i hope they will come out with a positive result, like recreating another earth, coz we really need a new one..hello anybody can explain whatever happens?

  • have they done their first experiments allready ?

  • yea i as a succsess

  • Hello u said that "we" meaning us Physicist's are out of our minds and that somethings dont need to be tinkered with. First i want to state that i and all myco-workers at CERN are sane lol yes in a way u r right we dont need to "tinker" with spacetime or re-creat the conditions of the big bag. But its not a question of needing to know its a question of wanting to know. Its the very nature of mankind to learn & understand things we dont know anything about i.e creation.i welcome any & all reply's

  • I'm very excited for this experiment. But you said it yourself, we seek to understand the unknown. Unknown being the key word. There is no way to know for sure what will happen, just our faith in numbers that never seem to lie to us. I guess we will see, and I hope we see something great.

  • yeah and we could also kiss our asses goodbye

  • NO they are going to study E=mc^2

    1 Kg of mass can produce 9 000 000 000 000 000 0 J of energy

I J of energy can move 1 Kg of mass by 1 m.

So they want to make nuclear energy into renewable ever more renewable than sun

  • i wud like to work in CERN and make teorys that no one understand ...i hope they come with somtig useful or destroy the Earth at least..

  • Where are the results?!

Or was it just a big fucking waste of money again? surprise surprise!

  • we are more likely to be hit by the waves of two neutron stars spining around each other knocking us out of orbitinto the sun. i wish you anti science moronic religious wastes of space would shut up and let us do our job as part of evolving human kind and not believing that we have only been around for 4000 years. MORONS.

  • @Benjeffes word, i second that.. these religous people are slowing mankinds progress into the future, how can large amounts of the world actually believe the first humans existed only 5000 years ago, its anti intellectual and moronic to think this is even possible

  • @Benjeffes 'Orbits', 'stars', 'neutrons', 'suns', 'of', 'the'--ya might as well be speaking a different language to them--try starting out with Jesus and burning bushes--then how ticked you are about those dam evil gay people--then MAYBE mention something about reality, but the key is ya have to SLOWLY work it in...its like they're 'fact virgins'

  • its funny how scientist always want to create useless shit even if that dont works. dosent matter killing the earth gotta create something useless

imagine how many thing you can do to change things in this world even if its too late to stop the evolution of man madness we cant take care of our own planet why we got brainless scientists and astronauts human race is pathetic and will lead to his own death sonner or later but they will realize its too late to do something it will all end soon

  • let's see...HOW can you "kill" the Earth with a simple hadron collider?didn't you know that particles are given higher accelerations outside Earth...and NOTHING EVIL happens?

It's not that it's useless...you just ignore what is it for...

PD:that astronaut race also cures you when you're sick...advanced medicine is developed in the space lab

  • this never gonna work i believe.

  • Does it work yet ????? NO

  • "allowing scientists to probe the ORANGES of creation" you what now?!

  • Stupids. This WILL NOT produce black holes. Not even micro bh's. Two protons hitting each other cannot contain enough mass, even at near light speed, to cause a high enough local energy density sufficient to create a singularity. It's simple E=mc2. Even at 2P(m) x c2 you do not have even fractionally close to the energy needed. Please go read some books. Those people launching the last minute court case are not scientists but sideline skeptics who think they know something. They do not.

  • Gravitational collapse is not the only process that could create black holes. In principle, black holes could also be created in high energy collisions that create sufficient density. Since classically black holes can take any mass, one would expect micro black holes to be created in any such process no matter how low the energy. However, to date, no such events have ever been detected either directly or indirectly as a deficiency of the mass balance in particle accelerator experiments.

  • Look....when The Hoover Dam was created people thought it would make the Earth spin differently because it would contain so much water!

....ain't those disaster announcers what we call ignorants?

PD:I would be afraid of a slorar storm rather than this, don't you think so?

  • Okay first of all i did not state any of those things like in the video. All i said was, well axactly as i said. It is all in theory a black hole could be created even in high density particle accelerators (like gold). The idea is that the mass becomes unstable and dense enough to become one. But honestly i do not think it would happen since there is alot of known mass that is interfering with the process

  • time wasters.. hurry up and fix it and take us to the next level..damn billions of dollars and hundreds of workers.. and it fails!! talk after it run properly.

  • Do you think that these mini-blackholes can sustain themselves? You might want to look into the physics of black holes before you start crying about the end of the world.

  • how can anyone criticize this when the first atomic bomb was ok'd by not sure which US president even tho he was told there was a 50% chance of igniting all oxygen in our atmosphere? what a bunch of retards

    FUSION FTW!!

  • lhccountdown(.)info for latest info and countdown

  • to all the jerks here, claiming the cost of this.....

    LHC: 6 Billion EUR

Expenses only of US-Gov for Military in 2006: 410 Billion EUR

so please tell me, which money is used better?!

  • Non of these 2

  • All this shit eventually gets used to make weapons that can kill more babies. Scientists can all go to hell.

  • its the dark side of the force! join us! we got cookies ;) lol

  • umm can I say I love science but maybe that money could be spent on peace process and helping families around the world instead of say trying to create blackholes not only in our universe but actually on our planet.

    You know?

  • These people are stupid and irresponsible. And too fuckin curious about shit, they need to sit down a eat a fuckin donut and call it a day.

  • if we werent curioues about "shit" you wouldnt be able to type that comment because you would be sitting in a cave somwhere because "shit" hadnt happened

  • well said. I want a donut just thinking about that crap. We should send donuts and bagels as bribes so they stop this dumb idea.

    Donuts Against Blackholes on Earth!

  • As no-one with any reasonable objections based on any historical or scientific fact have been brought forth, we can conclude that the side defending the LHC has won?

  • Reading the comments attached to this video makes me hope they DO destroy the earth. Species that can produce such volume of knee-jerk idiots is best exterminated early, so that life elsewhere in the universe can be protected from their stupidity.

  • does anyone find it alarming that this is happeing as 2012 is getting closer?

  • No retard, it happened yesterday

  • your a douche bag that doesnt know anything they are only in the cooling down process it takes months to reach the kelvin temp needed to conduct this pointless experiment.

retard? what are you twelve? grow up and learn

  • Pointless experiment? Sure, who the hell needs cold fusion?! People need to look into these experiments before they criticise them.

  • again the experiment is pointless if theres a fifty percent chance it will destroy everything around us. i dont give a shit if they cured cancer. you have to be responsible and weigh your risk and reward.

since you know so much why do you explain to all of us people.

  • 50% chance?! You are the only source I've heard those figures from. Who says that and are they really a credible source? I don't fully understand the experiment myself, as I'm sure most people here don't. But the success stemming from it can lead to cold fusion and other breakthroughs. You can do your own research on that if you wish. I'd rather listen to the scientists than the same people who said we doomed ourselves with computers for the year 2000. People get scared easy.

  • Do you listen to the retarded "scientist" in the wheel chair that thinks black holes bend space?

Or the "scientists" that bending space/time could be possible.

There are some good scientist out there. But also retarded ones.

  • Oh totally. Like Einstein! What a "retard"!!!! You haven't really told me why those theories are retarded... just that they are.

  • whos talking about einstein?

and i dont ned to explain cause i dont call myself a scientist

  • Einstein said bending of space/time is possible, you stupid uneducated moron. At least learn some history if you are incapable for learning physics.

You can call you're self "dumb one", that would be good classification of yourself, zero value.

  • He must be trolling us man. No one can be that stupid...

Space-Time bending has been tested. Caesium based atomic clocks placed on different parts of water tanks showed us that.

  • Oh you don't "need" to explain... I just figured I'd give you the chance to reinforce your claims without looking like a dumbass. And you're talking about Einstein, because he falls under your category of "retarded scientists".

  • so you have no reason for what you are saying...just what comes into your head? read up on the bending of space and after about a year get back to me and tell me what you think.opinions are like arseholes....everyone has one!

  • There were people who said we would destroy ourselves with the atom bomb. People thought atom bomb testing would destroy our genes and render us unable to reproduce. Other people think flouride in the water turns at apathetic for the government. See where I'm going with this? People are always scared of new things, and always will be. If we always stopped a scientific advancement due to a couple of startled individuals, we would never get anywhere in science.

  • Stupid faggots should honestly leave what's not meant to be known UNLESS a new APPLE IPHONE is involved.

  • scientists always attempt to play God.

  • thats fucked up.

  • Freaky shit. Freaky freaky freaky shit. Stupid fuckin scientists.

  • the world didnt end when it turned 2000, i doubt it will end when they go through with this

  • As long as you dont quote slipknot its ok man,you did your best

  • man will be destroyed by man ..and thers nothing i can do about it

  • and the slipknot song goes fuck it all fuck this world fuck everything that u stand dont belong dont exist dont ever judge me lol and u know i think this is really cool and if it kills us well still know how we became into being and even if it dont kill us then this of the infintite possibilities of answers that we could recieve

  • Wast of money.

  • Says a person who can't even write "waste" correctly...

  • Oh no i lost the freaking E in the proces ,maybe because i never learned to whrite Enlish. However i know i'm smarter then these people wasting millions on science, while every day people die from hunger. And a bunch of anti-social people support this B.S.

  • Smarter, HA!

In a world where a talentless hacks can make millions and then buy their fifth sports car, it is fundamentally impossible for money to be "wasted" on serious peer-reviewed science.

Also without science we wouldn't have electricity and food preservation, thing about how many mouths have been fed because of those two.

Also the scientist predict that the LHC might give us data by wich we can unlock the secrets of fusion, ergo bye bye carbon emissions...

  • Lol, science has brought nothing more then new weapons to kill each other. And what if there is no higgs particle ? What if it proofs all to be nothing more then mass ? This still is a nucleair research, if they can use the knowledge from this experiment, it will brobably be for making stronger and bigger weapons. Remember the first nucleair bomb, designed by "science" for the good of people. This is just the same.

  • If there is no Higgs particle, then we know that the Higgsless models are right...

"Lol, science has brought nothing more then new weapons to kill each other."

    ...Riiight...

Have you considered therapy? 'Cause you're fucking insane...

But then again, people like you never amount to anything, so I don't really care what kind of illusions you pollute your everyday life with. Just keep the fuck away from me, okay? I'll live longer...

  • Does it hurt? The truth ?? :-) yep scientist are nothin more then "indirect" killers. Its sad, people like u destroy this beautiful planet.

  • The truth doesn't hurt. But it gives me high blood pressure to have to read fundamentalist bullshit...

And that is what you are spewing, you may be an atheist. But what you are spewing is anti-intellectual fundamentalism. I know this because you seem to be unable to say that you could be wrong, wich pretty much is the functional definition of a fundamentalist. Atleast to me that is...

Or you are a troll... You probably are... So I'll feed you this one time, after that... No food for the troll.

  • Also what is kind of interesting to see is that nobody realizes the fact that these kinds of projects don't occur in a vacuum, but they pose problems that need solving and that those solutions do infact have an positive impact on our daily lives.

One such solution is Grid-computing, in wich we harness the idle processing power of computers to handle large amounts of data. That occurs in research such as, say the search for the cure of cancer. "Indirect killers" indeed...

  • Curing cancer by developing grid computing??? Thats a new one. Maybe afterwards they can make a fusion reactor for curing aids. Here comes a brand new hydrogen bomb. It collides and uses hydrogen .Maybe they can test it on Iran.

  • Oh yes. Just like how us going to space was a waste, right? That's what people said then. But now we have all sorts of awesome technology that derives from that. People said airplanes would be useless in war as well, but now that sounds like a joke. Who knows what we can get from this bit of science. Don't judge from such an ignorant standpoint. Saving people from hunger isn't as simple as buying a McDonalds in Africa. Money alone isn't going to save people.

  • Sad that you tried to make a point involving the military (war planes),that killed millions of people. And your " awesome technologie" is destroying this planet. Ignorant standpoint? you should look in to a mirror.

  • Ignorant? No. I just gave a couple of examples, but whether you agree with the moral value of these two examples is a whole other matter and has nothing to do with ignorance. The point is, people develop misconceptions in fields that they are scared of and have little knowledge of. And I was using the word "awesome" in context of great power. Not "cool". And from your argument, a dictionary would be of more importance than a mirror.

  • I'm not english neither am i american so its pretty "awesome" that i can whrite a little bit english ( so no need for a dictionary because i can whrite my two native languages perfectly ). I'm sure the people from nagasaki and third world country's would love your point of view.

  • What? My point of view being that people are often having misconceptions about new technologies? My point of view being that the world did not explode? I never stated my moral standpoint on the bombs.

  • Not 2 examples. I confused the post you're talking with another. I still stand by my statement, though.

  • to domionofpower the mere fact that you quote slipknot is proof indeed, that this a terrible world after all.

  • I hope it destroys the world even though there is a tiny chance. I hate this world. As Slipknot said in Surfacing "Fuck it all, Fuck this world, Fuck everyting that you stand for. Don't belong, don't give a shit, and don't ever judge me."

  • this process seams to happen all the time in our atmosphere without creating black holes. scientist always try things, and look if it works or destroys our planet: the first atomic bomb they didn' know, if the chain reaction would stop or not. crazy. for the costs of the war in irak they could feed the whole world for years, also crazy. i don't think that the world isn't gonna end but going crazy. perhaps they can write a new history about the big bang. we will see... greetings from germany

  • Just keep an eye on the royal queen reptilian bitch the day of the real test.If she is wearing a robe we are all fucked.

  • assuming that it does create a black hole, we have a month to live. I say do what you always whished you could but always but it off. I've done almost everything I wanted except 2 things now I have to decide between the two.

  • Have sex with an actor?

  • there are some things in this world that dont need explaining and the big banng is definetly one of them. this aint something that you do trial and error on and if it does create a black hole then the entire world is fucked. this cant happen it needs to be stopped

  • Actually the test was today to see if it was ready. They only shot one beam of protons around and it went smoothly. However they aren't going to do the high energy, and potentialy black hole creating, collisions till this october. Damn, if it kills us all there still are 2 thing I haven't gotten out of life, to go to Japan and to tell the woman I love how I feel about her.

  • did this happen today?

  • wait...soooo...if it DOES create a black hole do they have a plan on how to stop it?i mean even a tinyblack hole could bring in more atoms and get bigger sooo...if they make a black hole we're all screwed

  • well it's too late they already started it up this morning... and nothing happened.

  • It will months for it before they push it too full speed, and it's expected to take at least a full year before they are done field testing the accelerator. Then they will begin doing the tests it was designed for, smashing protons at speed of 300,000 kilometers per hour. And if something does go wrong scientists hypothosize that it will take nearly 4 years for the earth to be consumed by the black hole it could potentially create.

  • nikola tesla was the first scientist to discover cosmic rays(1888-1901)he also has a patent on them first called radiant energy!, the same particles are being made in the particle accelerator, he was also able to utilize their energy for electrical purposes to light and move devices!, i put up videos how to make the device, he also made particle accelerators to show this by having the pieces of matter strike metal sheets and recording their impulse! this was 100 yrs ago, please look it up!

  • we are and there is nothing we ca do about it!!! lol haha

  • anybody familiar with Halflife 1 ???

i don't say that there will come aliens and other shit.. but ... in halflife 1 the scientist told that this shouldnt meant to be happened. if they where wrong and it will be black whole... they will say sorry ora what ?and how could they put our life's in to risks ?

  • Don't worry. Precautions have been taken. We sent them a crowbar...

  • If they create a black hole, the world is gonna end. nice knowing you guys.

  • so you people think this money was well spent ..i dont think so ..this they want to be come heros first to find the awnser to life i dont think so .they could of became heros buy spending the money on problem on this earth that peolpe are facing now world hunger ,hiv, aids ,cancer ,globel warming anything ,the would help people of today and and the many years to come then they would have been heros for the right reasons not just for wasting money

  • wow good job guys. it seems that we all gonna die soon hahaha whouldn't that be great hehehehe.

  • 7.7bill

  • Just like in the time of the Tower of Babel when man seeked to know everything.

  • What if they use it to discover a cure for cancer?

Science is not a waste of money, that $30 you seem to have spent on the bible on the other hand. That's a shame.

  • waste of money ither somthing will happen (probly not much) nothing will happen or destroy the universe or earth its a bit stupid . are these people mad? becouse there definetly irisponsible!

  • this seriously scares me... first one's taking place tomorrow...

  • 6 BILLION DOLLAR EXPERIMENT.

  • Nassim Haramein if his theory correct they have wasted money building this thing
