Rafi is sublime.Look at the flowers he paints and the magic he puts in when ending a verse e,g "Gham ka mahinAAAA" at 2.22 and compare how Asha sings the same tune too straight at 1.19 "Jaane pyaar nibhanAAA ". A Rafi solo of the song would have been sublime and awesome. Yet a very romantic melody rendered by Rafi and Asha.

My mum used to hum this song back in the late 1970's. I remember watching the film but found the songs more interesting. Asha and Rafi have sung some beautiful duets in their time. Their voices truely complimented each other. From songs like 'aap ka chera mashallah, oh haseena zulfowali, tere saso main, ladki gali ki, tera woh raasta' and many more, they had a good vocal partnership. They sounded like they had fun. They brought words to life on screen! Thank you for this song.
