When it crashes, it may be irrepairable, and that would be a permanent tragedy. But if we crash it early and take responsibility for making sure this earth can survive as a home for human and animal and plant alike, the murder of 9/10's of the worlds population isn't a permanent tragedy, but a minor blemish on an already well stained history. Long live the human race and the viability of the planet earth.

Our population is so bloated, we need radical population reduction NOW.
A planned outbreak of the ebola virus would be a blessing.
If it was properly coordinated, and steps were taken to ensure its spread it could wipe out millions.
Even something like Cholera would be good, because of how quickly it kills people without treatment.
And if treatment were denied to populations, it would thin them out good.

@7Rojah7 did you know that Cholera kills a human in under 24 hours?
And it spreads through contaminated water.
And the ONLY treatment is large amounts of fresh water, until it leaves your system.
It's easy to control on a small scale, but once it the curve of infection surpasses the curve of treatment, it would spread out of control and really help make room.
I'm getting excited just thinking about it; such a simple, elegant solution.
They had excellent results with that in Rhodesia.

overpopulation is not the problem there is more than enough room and food for the world, the prob. is we cram millions of people together in huge cities and that causes slums,no jobs, and the spread of disease, planned relocation across the globe would solve many problems, every family on earth could have a half acre plot and fit in australia. we can now regenerate soil across a huge part of africa, and if managed correctly, what is now barren could sustain and provide food/home to a huge number, there are sea water filtration plants now, the technology is there.someone would have to spend billions, and not expect any profit, it can be done. either way "they" would rule as a hierarchy, that's no good for the human race no matter how many people there are, then we're back to the mid ages of fighting royalty for freedom.

Let me try to explain this again: for each human, they consume a finite amount of resources per year (water, arable land, electricity, etc) in those terms, we are fast approaching, if we haven't already arrived at, the cap.
People don't have to be stacked on top of each other for there to be too many of us.

You'd see how "irrelevant" the problems we face in this country are by comparison. We may have low employment and a host of temporary set-backs, but those will improve. Start brainstorming instead of bellyaching. How about a law that says that every able-bodied citizen spend 1 hour in their own garden daily 1% of all yield donated to stop global hunger?
