How do these compare to Wampler's higher gain pedals, ie. Triple Wreck/Plextortion? I know we're talking different price points but I'm curious about your thoughts on sound and build quality.
@jamminori To me all the Wamplers still have that "I'm a distortion pedal" sound.
The AMT Drive and Legend pedals sound more natural -relatively speaking. Even though they don't sound exactly like the gear it's try to emulate(couple of them pretty damn close IMO), the sound stands on it's own regardless.
@bornburied That's really cool. I like what I hear from clips online. Which do you recommend? My attention has been gravitating toward the darker sounds of the B-drive.
Brett, Thanks for all your demos. I ordered a P Drive, as it is best suited for my needs at this time. According to the USA distributor, it looks as if I will be the first USA customer to get one! Thanks for bringing these to our attention!
Jim Root now uses Orange Rocker-verb 100 amp heads but originally used a modded Bogner Uber Schall, which would be better for a Stone Sour type tone the B-Drive or the O-Drive?
The O-Drive doesn't sound that "gainy" is it based on a lower gain Orange amp, an AD maybe?
Will these be available in the UK? and any idea on price?
nice job, i have the S1 (which i luv) but i'm not buying the S-Drive..they should've built a dual purpose pedal from the beginning..i would however consider one of these if it does a good "brown" sound...
Cheers Pal - I can hear what you mean about the VT drive - does tend to stand out - i really liked the B drive as well - not so in your face but quite scooped and squashy - nice - as was the P and the E drives - thanks for comments and the vids mate - S.P.
Holy Smoke - what a bewildering array of filth - they sound very good - a liitle confusing at first glance - can you give us an idea of what amp each box is trying to emulate - Rock On S.P.
@slugpumper1 Well, it's unofficial because it's all hearsay.. but.. E-Drive = Engl, P-Drive + 5150, M-Drive = hot Marshall, B-Drive = Bogner, Vt-Drive = VHT, O-Drive = Orange, S-Drive = Soldano. Which models? I don't know. There is much more difference when you back the gain off and I will show you this when I get time to shoot each individually in a couple of weeks. For now, though, I hope this does the trick. My favorite? That would the Vt-Drive.
@Burgerman666 I can't agree more, and funny thing: I was listening to the video without watching, suddenly I heard a tone that struck me, I went like "wow, this tone is really cool", and it was actually the VT-Drive !
Never heard about AMT Electronics before though, and don't think they have any dealers here in France !
@Cwassicwock That's actually partly true. The volume in this studio was raging hard enough (a HIWATT Custom is an unforgiving, crushing bastard of a thing - that's why I love it!) to cause the camera's receptor to shudder whenever I slammed some bottom end. Cheap effects! (I don't think the neighbours share our glee, though..)
The pedals sounded great but almost all of them sounded the same

To my ears the E-Drive sounds far and away the best. It sound fatter than the others and has a nice high end crunch.

@spawnofwheezedog Indeed. They tear the faces off most of the competition. And I know because I've tried most of them.
