  • Crap, this means flies and possibly other insects can learn and remember. Now I feel worse about killing them.

  • thats insect abuse

  • @mrconradhoppe

not just chemicals that are sprayed, but the national changes that us humans are imposing on their lifestyles.

it is possible that the bees are also confused by the electromagnetic field created by technology.

usually honey bees go back to the nest or somewhere close by to die, but in city areas they would keel over in any random spot.(study done at stonybrook university NY)

  • And we paid how much to train bees?

  • Now try the same with a anaconda, a basket, and a scientist, lets see if he actually becomes more paranoiac.

  • Then came Eric the half a bee

  • Here at the Torturing Bumblebees Institute we use only the highest quality robot spiders and use the latest technology to take those cocky lil sob's down a peg. you think you're so cool cuz you've got all the pollen....

  • Psychiatrist Bee: "now MR Bee, what seems to bee *ahem* the problem?"

MR Bee: "it's these goddamn crab spiders, they're everywhere. Can't shut my eyes for a second or they'll get me"

  • Your hard earned tax dollars at work :p

  • Two

  • this experiment is useless. of course the damn thing will learn not to go to the one with the big white spider in it. but in real life the bee never sees it coming due to the camo of the spider. Virtually no bee survivors an ambush by these spiders so they can pass on genetic code to prevent such attacks.

  • mmm... kk... next...

  • cool, even bees have the ability to learn ;)

  • lol obviously they start associating the catching with the flower, not with the spider. Stupid scientist cant figure that out?

  • @KrutoyPostowoy Ya you're right. They didn't prove that the ones where the bee 'saw' spiders were avoided more. Laaaame research.

  • funny burnawaylies

  • No, but the bee did recognize that it was being trapped/threatened when it went to some flowers, and it became cautious of all flowers. The plastic white spider didn't even move, therefore it is not reasonable to assume that the spider had anything to do with the trap (the bee grew paranoid of the flower trap before it had enough trials to recognize that the white spider signals a trap).

  • poor bees.... i dont like spiders...

  • "avoiding flowers that Didn't actually contain a trap" ???

Thas kinda bad for them, if they avoid trap-free flowers.... Oh well, life is cruel...

  • Right I gotta get some sleep... I thought that said "disgusted spiders" for over a second.... 0_o

  • bees are such cute and stupid creatures.

  • The spiders cook them on the bar-BEE-que.

  • ah but now you just learned that bees can actually think

  • Pavlov dogs.

  • haha done ur psychology i see, maybe skinner box

  • not think. feel if anything.

  • That has got to be the lamest insult I have seen yet on youtube. Was that the best you could think of?

  • boo fuckin hoo

dont like it dont read it fucktard

  • No, sorry - THAT is the lamest insult I've seen.

  • "you relly dont have anything better to do with your self then huh?"

No - I'm at work and enjoy winding up muppets like you!

  • Good job, are you enjoying yourself? I couldn't imagine, afterall I don't sit on my ass at work and try to insult peoples comebacks over the internet.

Watch the fucking video, that's the purpose of this section, get over the fact that the world today is filled with degenerates.

  • Right.

  • Oh wait, let me make it more clear.

That is not a complete setence, sentences include subjects and verbs, without these simple procedures, you look like a complete shit.

  • You are scary.

  • The world is not full of degenerates, they just visit all the same videos, and possibly coffee shops that you do.

  • Obviously it is, look where we're at. Shitty economy, why is this exactly? Well let me guess, did your vote on Bush change the world? It sure did, was it into a better place? No, no it wasn't, now families are living in streets, I bet they're real proud of what they've done, right?

  • Ha! Economic crisis? I'm Chicano, and guess what, my family has been in an economic crisis since I was born; Oppression is cunning and adaptive. I've left the country, I live in China. As for American's being degenerates, well, I wish it was that simple. We have an abundance of information, and most people have never learned how to sift through the truth, half-truth, and untruth. My suggestion, if you don't like what you see, you change it. Teach your so called degenerates......

  • Well, that's their fault for being complete morons, it's the way of life. I hope your learned something from your pathetic parents and their poor parental skills. So you left the country, that means you have almost no knowledge of what's going on in the US, you think talking to people is a credible source? Come back to the US in California and watch people pick for cans, families too, then try and prove me wrong. You can't teach an idiot new tricks, it's obvious. They have to learn on their own.

  • I've lived all over the world, and honestly, I've seen more in terms of poverty, both urban and rural, than most others; I've worked with truly impoverished communities. As for my upbringing, it's obvious my parents did something right, I speak four languages, live internationally, and try to live compassionately. People learn on their own? Learning is the most natural thing human beings do......and so is teaching. You learned to read and write...on your own?

  • Obviously we don't learn very well now do we? You'd think we were smarter and decided to vote for Al Gore, but obviously not, now look at the position, alot of people are suffering across the world. You said your parents weren't exactly the rich type, I guess you're right about one thing, you learned not to be failures like them. Like I said you can't teach an idiot new tricks.

  • I have to agree with you. I don't think people will learn much from the economic situation that we are in right now. Individual families were ignorant with their money (refinancing their homes to take vacations etc etc.) And now we have this "blame the mortgage brokers mentaility meaning they have found someone to blame their ignorance on. So nothing learned. You're right you can't teach an idiot new tricks....and there are a lot of idiots.

  • I'm also not to sure about what "Chicano" exactly is, but I'll assume you came from Chicago, the rest of my family lives their, they're intelligent, I thought most people who came from there are? I guess there's usually that one dumb family who comes out of the sewers. Anyways, when you actually come back to the US, then you can talk all you want.

  • There is just so many replies to this comment that I wanted to continue the trend.

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU----------

  • Doesn't China regulate the information that comes in on the net over there.....your information might not be as abundant as you think....

  • You blame the economic crisis on Bush? Has life taught you anything?

  • @ObliviuxProductions Yes, it has taught me that you and Bush are asshole fuckers.

  • a lot of crab spiders can change colour to suit the flower they are on.

no amount of paranoia is gonna save the bee from that.

the bees instinct to collect pollen and feed the colony far outweighs any paranoia they may feel so eventually they will land on the flower and BAM spidey gets her lunch.

once little dead bee won't have much of an effect on the colony tho.

i have to ask also what is the point in the research... what is the ultimate goal and will that goal be of any help to anybody?

  • i love how the bee freaked out.

    bzzzzzzzz...fwump! BZZZZZ!

  • lol big time

  • It kinda proves that even insects "think".

  • FWUMPF! lol... that's sooo mean!

  • I laughed xD

  • O_o

  • ouch..

  • Waste of time.

  • and why exactly is that a waste of time? it helps us learn more about insects and their behaviour

  • so in the case of bees, paranoia is a result of having been screwed over in the past & not a sign of mental illness...

will have to tell my shrink about that

  • i just thought the exact same thing. lol

  • How many bees had to die in the making of this film?

(brings his right fist to his chest and salutes the fallen)

  • OK,so, could u take this a step farther and teach them to recognize the spiders, and avoid them without the close encouter with death? well, i guess thats the point of the exercise so i guess its a dumb question.

  • ^^

    Bees are gonna rocks

  • LOL!!

  • That sound is hillarious

  • Does this mean you can train bees?

  • im sure the pentagons trying to figure a way to shrink and put nukes on them now.

  • Wrong way round - they are making GIANT FUCKING BEES! And they are making them PARANOID! God help us all.

  • lmfao thats the funniest post ive seen

  • LMOF!

  • LOL

  • I guess bees aren't as dumb as you look.

  • Being a New Scientist means scaring the shit out of lower life forms.

  • haha lol

  • uh and this helps bees how???except making a few of them scared of flowers?

  • i love science. hence why i subscribed to this channel. keep your panties on ok?

  • fasinating!!!

  • that's fun but any creature that almost dies with obviously learn form the experience

  • apart from Keith Richards

  • What bad luck! I supposed that they are pure fly-forward automatons! :)

  • I do not like spiders

  • please continue the experiment to see whether the bees have the ability to pass on their knowledge.

  • the clamps were mean =((( the bee was buzzing so loud =(((((

  • I know! Those mean, dirty, stupid clamps. Someone should tell them not to be so bad!..... The following comment was meant to be sarcastic. RICK JAMES BITCH

  • Lol @ the sound the bee makes at 0:25.

  • hahahaha i noticed the same thing

  • hahaha yeh

  • lol!

  • Lol

  • so you take a lot of acid at your science labs.

  • lawl

  • Bees are decent people..

  • poor bee

  • or he oftens become red in the face

  • lol these things are getting ridiculous. "researchers found that if you slap a man in the face he will often times become hostile"

  • it took a $30,000 govt grant to fund this "Slap in the face study. "

  • Actually it was by 2 people at a university, but whatever.

  • ah! the old "kick in nut after slap in my face experiment"

  • this basically shows us Bees have a memory.

  • everybody knows that they have a language... so we shouldnt be surprised that they have memory...

  • Just because we shouldn't be surprised, doesn't mean we should take it for granted. As much as it might suck, making presumptions is a sure way to create holes in our understanding. Science isn't thinking something, it's testing it.

  • You obviously aren't a researcher.

  • you know what, you're right. i think we should research how earthworms act when they are hit by a lightning bolt. i wouldn't want to presume that it would die.

  • What if I told you that before this experiment, it was thought that insects related to bumble bees did not have any conditioning mechanisms?

I'm not saying it is true, but what if it was?

  • i would say. "uh....ok... thank you for that tidbit"

  • oh shut up. we all get it - you hate science, experimenting, whatever. quit trolling and get a life you hippie.

  • Exactly. You have nothing to say. Stand corrected.
