This is an excellent cover. I saw Alice in Chains a couple months ago, and it was great. Layne is dead. Very sad, but true. You chumps need to appreciate that you can still see the other members of the band who were equally important to the sound of AIC, and quit complaining. I do not like AIC's new music as much as the old, but the band was bound to change regardless of Layne's death. Most of the grunge/alternative/metal bands from the 90's have changed by now. Just shut up and listen.

Alice in Chains never covered this song with Layne so comparing William's performance with Layne is null and void.

Without drugs, AIC would have been very different, and quite possibly not as good. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure they're people with high self esteem that do end up addicts, simply for that very reason. The power of drugs needs to be respected at all times.

@MrTufflong Yeah definitely! There are probably plenty of musicians who became drug addicts once they got the money and the lifestyle. Apparently Layne's mom hated his love of music and kicked him out of the house for wanting to be in music when he was 20. There were also issues with his dad. I think he had left them or something. I think he was an addict too. I forget where I read that.

....btw, I know this is kashmir, a zep song, but even on this song; I feel he's almost trying too hard to capture some sort of power voice and the rest of the guys in the band are trying to showcase his voice way tooo much, (by choosing this song), and it's back firing on all of them . As I've said somewhere else, maybe it's better William isn't tremendous since that would overshadow Jerry...yet...again...another lead singer getting all the attention. I like Jerry way too much for that.

Duvall's voice is okay, he can hit the notes, but I just don't like the actual sound of his voice. (nothing personal) but, therefore, I can't get used to Duvall as the new AIC singer. I love AIC, but it's rough hearing them like this. Again, I like Duvall, but just not his sound. Kashmir is definitely one of the best Rock Songs ever written. As a guitar player in a band that covers Hard-Rock and Metal Songs, I can tell you, that's a drag to play,if you decide to play that song, you need an extra guitar, because it requieres open tuning...

I'm not a fan of Alter Bridge, but their cover of this song is far superior, vocally, than this. The guy from Alter Bridge at least has a good voice and sings with emotion.

Duvall has a very limited range and his high notes are all gargled and muddy. His voice is never clear. Ever.
