I just saw this film tonight. Excellent! They even had a Q&A with the main guy/ owner Michael czysz afterwards. Cool guy, a very cool, innovative, car guy who loves motorcycles and apparently winning & going fast. It had NOTHING to do with lib vs conservative, gas vs electric etc, it's a very interesting film which should make any motorcycle/car fan happy. Thie dude definitely puts his money where his mouth is.
I'm pretty sure electric will wipe out petrol engines for performance eventually. My model electric car is the fastest off-the-shelf model of its scale in the world last time I checked. Traxxas Rustler VXL Li-Po brushless. 110 + KPH. And it's not even modified. And I've raced with nitro powered cars. They spend most of their time in the pits in my experience.
Can't believe all the cynics! This is very cool. How can you not want to for forward the technology. At the mo petrol vehicles can out perform electric on duration only but in the future as battery technology moves on electric power will be able to mach and supersede petrol. there's no need to get all sentimental about it. we have surely out grow this dogma! there can not be by any thinking person a stigma about electric vehicles. This is old fashioned macho shit. Let move on and embrace this!
So how do they charge their batteries? Coal power? Nuclear power? 94.5% of Britain's power comes from fossil fuels or Nuclear power so if these bikes are charging off of that power grid how are they green? I would really like to know.
The sooner the better. If they spent the R&R on the electric as to make these cheaper for the average guy, we will be ahead of the game when all the Petrol bikes are just being polished in garages when we can no longer get fuel. Personally after 40 years of loud rough sounding bikes , it would be nice to have a whispy smooth quiet sportbike that you feel the ride and wind instead of rumble all the time. That is if you've evolved to that level yet Loud polluting isnt hot any more
@GooseKZ1000 on my 904cc supersport I dont have the clutch cover open , I hate the rattle
I dont mind the engine noise or exhaust cruising down the road. Its the stopping and hearing the dry clutch sounding like something is loose or wrong with the motor. Its just in me looking for what sounds like a solid perfect motor rumble. The clutch clatter sounds like something is broken , thats just me
It is rubbish to watch live and until they're more reliable there isn't much point. The teams I spoke to worked really hard though and well done to them. I will miss petrol if this takes over.
Clincher moment at 0:11!!! Bring on electric motorcycles, too. Their development is advancing at a rapid rate and their involvment will keep motorcycles relevant to the world.
@wanderer1 Amazing power curves? I don't think so.. Apart from the single gear torque theres nothing else...Go leave that laptop-cycle to charge for 6-7 ours only to make 300-500 (the most) km and then wait again! Oh and if you want non deafening adrenaline go longboarding or something...And please don't metion pseydo-global warming shit, cause even if it were true, li-on batteries are not going to replace 100 years of engine evolution,
besides think about where electricity comes from..
@johnshelbyjenkins Why are you saying that? Why is everybody buying into this shit?
There have been many other alternative ways of replacing petrol. this is just plain retarded to me. And if you don't want to look like like a fool in a society of hypnotized fools it's ok! the easiest thing is to blend in!! NOW GO WATCH AL GORE'S DOCUMENTARY ABOUT HOW YOUR ENGINE DESTROYS THE PLANET...lol

They are running on the sheer willpower and hopes of all the hippies in the world.
they got stoned and forgot to dream though, so they go really slow.

A DVD that was filmed in the Isle of Man and narrated by a Scot and yet you can only buy it in USA and Canada, that makes sense!!!
What a way to sell goods by leaving out Britain and Europe :(

@Curufin42 Lots of studies done on this. An equivalent sized coal powered vehicle produces 1/10th the emissions as a typical gasser.

Its funny to realize years from now that electric bikes will be the majority and the petrol bikes will be the odd minority

Just when I thought here's an epic documentary about this race, they said "electric bike racing". And there they lost me.
Do they know that a single dragster uses more fuel in a single race that all of these races combined, ever.
