It's called the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution - Article VI, Clause 2. The federal government has authority over the states, not the other way around. Even the 10th Amendment that you teabaggers are so fond of doesn't give states power over the federal gov't.

Jim I just want to know one thing when are the states going to exercise their rights. The States have the authority over the Federal Government. Not the opposite. For instance they use the EPA to make the States pay millions of dollars on water treatment thats not going to make any real difference. They are obviously trying to make water unfordable for people like me who want to have a garden or take a bath or drink, Are really trying to make water affordable? Tell the Feds NO!

The state can just issue their own money heck it would be just as good as the monopoly money not backed by anything the so called off shore federal reserve counterfeits. Despite admitting it ”probably” is “technically” something a pilot should do, the Senator excused his behavior by saying: “people who fly a lot just don't do it.” Despite holding Flight Instructor and ATP certificates, the senator also said he was “not sure of the exact wording of the FAA's regulations regarding NOTAMs.” Perhaps most damning, he then proceeded to say that even after his Texas experience he “won’t make any commitment” to check them every time he flies.

This kind of arrogant, noncompliant attitude towards his preflight responsibilities as PIC, as well as his unrepentant attitude towards the hazards he created in this incident are shameful and reflect poorly on the general aviation piloting community. Finally, I think it’s disgusting that Senator Inhofe feels he has any business influencing the FAA’s certificate enforcement process, when he clearly used his political influence to skate out of his incident with “remedial training.”
