i have another question, im baking these today but before i do i wanna know what to do with the dough... for example my oven can put in 1 baking tray at a time, so if the dough sits on my counter while the other cookies cook will it get too soft? can i put it in the fridge while the other cookies cook?
@reptiguy1210 Nope, but it's recommended as it adds another dimension of flavour, and the moisture content of brown sugar also helps to make nice gooey cookies :)
Made these today. Best I've ever tasted. Mine always used to come out to crispy. My son broke a tooth on one. What is it that makes them so gooey and soft?
@traceycrosss I'm glad you enjoyed them. The the gooeyness comes from the balance of ingredients that hold moisture. A lot of people add more butter to try and make them gooey but that has the opposite effect. It's the flour, sugar and brown sugar that helps to make it gooey. Also the low temperature bake stops them from firming up too much.
i followed your recipe. i have a question though, my cookie tends to spread too much during baking, making the final product to be really thin. is it because my oven is not hot enough or was it something else?
@pokcay It's pretty common for an oven to be up to 20 degrees hotter or cooler than the dial says. Try it again with your oven 10-20 degrees hotter. :)
@sara2sv Ingredients: 1 1/3 cups plain flour ½ cup caster sugar (or superfine sugar, substitute plain white sugar if not available) ¼ cup brown sugar {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{100g softened butter}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla extract or essence ½ tsp bi carb soda 1 cup of choc chips

Ahhh those look delicious. Never used brown sugar before. Thanks Aussie! :)
WiiiCKeDFuRY 1 month ago
@WiiiCKeDFuRY They get a 'deeper' sweetness to them if that makes sense. Brown sugar also has some moisture content helping them to become chewy

Yum! Can we use self-raising flour instead of plain flour + soda?
