  • john and rodney should have kissed in several episodes.. that would have rocked

  • He bites his lip as he leaves aha

  • I don't recall why rodney is mumbling about minidase inhibitors ??

  • @xadam2dudex

Because he wants to remember medical type stuff since he'll be spending some time with Keller.

  • John wasn't jealous, he never had the hots for Dr Keller. He was teasing Rodney. It was caveman that was competing with him for the Doc.

  • @aclays Epic missing of the point. It isn't KELLER he has the hots for... ^___^

  • Javid. so hot.

  • Goddamnit. I was able to go through almost all 5 seasons sans slasher glasses. That's over now.

  • Further proof that SGA is a slash-fest.

  • I only ship McShep because I despise McKeller. ^^

  • xD Awww, John was like "Well $%*& you too, then. I'll go have some fun somewhere else." *pout pout pout*

Rodney was like "Awww, damn, I think I upset him...."

    <3

  • I'm sorry but John is just to hot and nice to be gay.

Us women have a hard enough time find nice straight guys without the fictional nice guys being unavailable as well. lol

  • all you McShep people are , what I like to call, wishful thinking

  • Out of context is out of context.

  • This is a good one for the McShep dynamic. John just doesn't seem to like Keller much at all. ;)

  • what epîsode is this clip from?

  • This is awesome.

  • Oh, poor John, having his free time with Rodney *cough*dates*cough* usurped by Keller! Seriously, she's, like, what, ten years younger than him at ~least~? Personally, I liked Ronon/Keller better. There was a time when I like Shweir too, but that was before I realized that Lizzie was practically eye-raping Shep every chance she got x3 Ah, John, you truly are the Pegasus Galaxy's bitch XD

  • @gylfie24linole I love Rodney to pieces, find him eminently shaggable & think Hewlett's splendid - but the writers asking us to buy Keller choosing Rodney over Ronon?!? Ronon is capable, competent, SMOKING hot and he has ten times McKay's emotional intelligence. Rodney's great and all, but, SO high maintenance - really, that particular narrative choice read as total fanboy self-insertion of fancying Jewel, rather than considering how her character WOULD behave.

John/Rodney is a much easier sell

  • @nomdesouris I know, seriously! I really liked the Ronon/Keller moments in early Season 4 and found them adorable! ^_^ The part in Quarantine when they were about to kiss was the only part of the episode I liked, apart from John freaking out about Teyla's baby x3

    Ronon/Keller and McShep FTW!!!!!

  • @gylfie24linole Oh my god, I just laughed into my pillow for a minute straight. xD Thank you for that, now I'll never be able to watch any of the episodes with Elizabeth 'raping' John again without bursting into giggles.

Also, I think the writers were going to have Ronon/Keller, but they just felt sorry that Rodney never gets the girl, so they wanted him to win over Ronon. But they didn't realize that JF and David Hewlett are totally putting slash undertones in the whole series...;)

  • whitc ep is this

  • I just love how John catches Rodney primping and then flounces out of there!

  • Oh, lord, I had no idea that Joe supported it. Oh, I want to bake him a HUGE batch of cookies. Don't care that it was never canon, to know that he respected it: astounding.

BTW, it's not just mediocre shows that get ships, nor shows with weak female roles! Thanks for the upload!

  • Wait, are you serious?! He really supports it? How did you find out about this little gem of information?! :D

  • Yeah, there used to be a vid, from a conference, where he said as much, playing up the scenes to go that way when they could've just have been normal. Plus, his joke that he and David are platonic, but 'McKay and Sheppard might not be'. The clip seems to have disappeared, though.

  • Really?

    He hinted at that, odd.

Maybe he's just toying with us.

  • It's called slash, and it's not unique for SGA (other famous examples are Kirk/Spock and Starsky/Hutch). Where there's a mediocre TV show where male friendships are the focus and female characters are reduced to supporting characters, slash fans will write stories exploring these male friendships from a romantic and sexual perspective. I could link you to more comprehensive guides if you're interested. :)

  • @gaffsie I resent the implication that shows have to be mediocre (which SGA was not) or have females reduced to supporting roles (Elizabeth and Teyla were not supporting) to produce slash! I'm not angry, mind you - but neither of the things you stated have to be true to produce slash. Look at Star Trek DS9, for instance, which had both Garak/Bashir and Bashir/O'Brien despite Kira Nerys easily being the second most important character in the entire show with no lack of screen time.

  • You say obsession, like it's a bad thing ;) It's slash, it's mostly harmless :D

  • It almost looks like he's about to cry.

  • OMG so true!

  • Pouting flouncing John is just a drop of proof in the sea of slash that is this show.

John knowing Rodney's password in Quarantine, all their scenes in Miller's crossing, The Defiant One, etc.

My slash goggles are permanently attached.

  • Oh, same here. Now if only Rodney could stop deluding himself that he's heterosexual, everything would be perfect. ;)

  • @gaffsie That's is the truth!!! they were so many opportunities with John and he missed them all ; -)

  • @gaffsie Flounce? Care to explain wise one to those who are less educated?

  • @RosemaryWeir In this case, 'flounce' means leaving in a huff.

  • Depends on how you view it, I never really thought about it when I saw the whole show.

  • I kept asking myself that question on how he knew what Rodney's password was. I love their scenes together. Reminds me a lot of Daniel Jackson and Jack O'Neill, and Jim Ellison and Blair Sandburg.

  • Ok. Sorry. I just don't see it.

  • just to add to it all, the sad music at the end.

i'm not a McShep fan at all but even i have to admit, this is pretty good evidence for McShep being reality :P

  • It's little moments like this that makes being a slasher all worth it. :P It's just a shame that the season 5 subtext suggests that it's onesided. John deserves better.

  • I love how John flounces out of Rodney's room. Rodney looks so guilty!

    Poor John!

  • That's a better storyline than John being secretly in love with Rodney? You're kidding. Nothing beats that. Well, other than the obvious. ;)

  • Haha that is a good storyline ;) The secret relationship of John+Rodney? Hah i can see that too!

  • I don't think John was jealous at all! He was just wondering why Rodney would do something like that on his day off...he didn't come off as jealous...

  • I guess what they officially went for was John being jealous that his BFF is spending time with a girl rather than him, but in this particular scene I really can't see how you can interpret as anything *but* jealousy with him walking out without another word

  • Is there any way to interpret this except for John being jealous and hating Jennifer's guts? 'Cause I'm not seeing it.

  • I showed this clip to a non-fandom friend of mine (she isn't even a slasher) and even she went with the 'the guy in black is wildly jealous' explanation. :D

  • You see what you want to see. :)

  • Yes, yes I do. What's your point?

  • Since Joe Flanigan is a McShepper? Not really. ^^

  • Waitwaitwait. When did he say this? Do you have a link or something? Because I'd LOVE to read/see that. :D

  • He said that while his relationship with David Hewlett was completely platonic "John's relationship with Rodney might not be." The vid pops up every now and then here before it gets taken down.

  • Do you happen to remember what the video was called?

I love that even the actors see the connection between those two characters. :D

  • I don't remember the con's name, I'm afraid. I found it under "JoeF McShep" of all things.

  • I'll be on the lookout. Thanks!

  • Aah so canon *tear in eye while she's in her happy place*

  • Ah, I just love how it's totally canon that John's in love with Rodney~

  • John Sheppard you soooo just it ur lip when u checked out rodney! i saw it!

    <3

  • come on boys stop joking yourselves!

just jump eachother...(and let me watch=])

i love mcshep! why must the writers toy with our slashy emotions!?!?

    <3

  • Oh /John/. No one really believes you're straight.

  • Except for the producers, but they're clearly deluded. ;)

  • You're right lol

  • *giggles* wow, yeah we really buy the whole Rodeny is totally straight now don't we. It really helped to have a pouty/sulky John convince us!

  • 'Flannie,' you are SO playing this our way! \o/

Seriously, I really don't see how this can be interpreted any other way, even from the *writers'* perspective. This is a bone thrown to us, and we loves it, precious.

Rodney looks so GUILTY at the end! Wheeee.

  • @darsynia Well, I'm not a slash fan so maybe that is way I can interpret that differently. But another interpretation would be that John knows what is going on and just wants to hear rodney admitting it, like best friends. And rodney's look could be that he just realized that John didn't buy that very unlikley explanation for Rodney goning to taht mission on a free day.

But i have to admit that the music at the end is kinda pointing in a different direction.

  • @darsynia Not just JF playing it to our favor...There are times when David Hewlett seems to play it our way too....Example: Season five, "The Shrine." God I love that episode, Rodney says he "Loves" Keller, but then he's running screaming for John's room in the middle of the night? Awesome.

  • jflans is love. i just, i can't even. its just RIDICULOUS the amount of GLEE i have for him.

    oh, jflans. never change!

  • DUDE! i'm sorry but WHAT?!

i still have 14 minutes until it downloads, so maybe the next scene is going to eraser the fact that bit WAS SO OBVIOULSY JEALOUS JOHN AND EMBARRASSED RODNEY!

do the directors not have eyes? it was clearly written to make us buy the rodney/keller thing but FAILED UTTERLY since joe and david are clearly pandering to us tinhats. I LOVE IT, OBVS, but wow, i'm gonna have to get someone else to watch it and see what they think.

  • One of many reasons I love JFlan with a vengeance is that he's really playing up the McShep angle. David helps too, but he's all too often thwarted by the het-anvils the script keeps dropping on us.

  • Not to mention that these two just work against eachother and off each other in a way that (while I love her) David and Jewel just never will. Stick her back with Ronon, because I just can't take the "romance" scenes between she and Rodney seriously.
