Art style has good quality, shows skill and hard work.
Writing is absolutely terrible with no real thought put into it rather than just to have some excuses for it's setting (sorry, but 7 Days a Skeptic beats this game's teeth out).
Overall some good points, but isn't the best horror adventure game out there. It tries too hard to scare you much like a man in red screaming "HEY! LOOK AT ME!" while bouncing off walls.
@PocketPascal lol the white chamber is something we made over 5 years ago while finishing university. No offense but your opinion on the game means literally nothing to me beyond total amusement. You come across like most entitled internet gamers desperately posting your opinions on every forum and comments thread you find. No one gives the slightest toss what you think. Go out and make something, contribute to the culture of the world. Please stop practicing.
@StudioTrophis I'm getting my BA in game design. I'm also creating an RPG from scratch with my friends.
I also occasionally criticize. The criticisms are only for finding problems.
Still, If nobody cared about what I thought, why did you? You replied, showing that you REALLY didn't like what I said (I said your artwork and audio was amazing, writing is bad).
It seems you would have preferred me say "good job!" instead. I hope I get tons of criticisms. We learn nothing from complements.
@PocketPascal Well I cared in that it pissed me off because you came across like an arsehole. But I didn't care in the sense that it would have any effect on my work. Like most people on internet writing "critique" you're pissing into the wind. It's not gonna improve anything but occasionally it might splash on someone making them angry.
And no saying 'good job' would not have been constructive and useful but your comments was simply insulting and patronising. Lacking in anything useful.
@StudioTrophis I, and other people who made a critique, don't have any effect on your work, you do.
You look at reactions you get from your work and decide for yourself what to do next.
Next time however, if someone states something such as "art and sound are good, plot and story is bad", ask them why (regardless), if it catches your attention.
Everyone who makes a critique is gonna sound like an asshole (I get them a LOT so I know how it sounds on my stuff), you need to remember that.
@PocketPascal No I get critique and feedback on my games all the time. It's this feedback that has constantly helped me improve.
You're just particularly bad at it because instead of trying to be constructive you were essentially wanking yourself off over how much smarter you are. Taking pot shots from your ivory tower of perfection.
Your feedback was very condescending and smarmy. Next time someone talks to me like you have I'll skip to the end and tell them to fuck off. Please do.
@StudioTrophis You've had quite a lack of maturity because you've been attacking me personally with every reply. That gives me poor judgement of your character which I hope is false. I can tell you don't take critique, because you couldn't take mine (regardless of how good it is or not).
disregarding your behavior making your team look bad, I think your work has great potential. There are many areas in which your team has skills in.
I only hope you will be more mature next time for your sake.
@PocketPascal I'm attacking you personally because you seem like someone who's not used to getting kick back from your shotgun approach to game critique. I'm trying to make you understand what you say is not without consequence. I take critique well and it is huge part of what i do. However yours was written so poorly I felt you needed a wake up call. I could have engaged you all softly softly and professional but you'd have learned nothing. btw fyi Studio Trophis disbanded many years ago.
@PocketPascal If anything you need to learn about humility. Every single one of your replies was condescending and superior yet you're almost certainly some university student who's still in that phase of life where you think you've got everything figured out. I am far too old and world weary at this point to suffer people like you in an attempt to wring out a serious debate in the hope of finding even a tiny nugget of wisdom in a stream of effluent.
@StudioTrophis I only wanted to tell you what I didn't like about your game. '~';
When I made that critique the first thing I expected was a question. "Why?".
So far I've been called an ignorant condescending jackass with a god complex from you and I have still been waiting for you to ask me to explain my reasoning for not liking your product, but I still lack humility.
I have reached another macrology of anger and frustration from one statement.
@PocketPascal What you seem to have totally missed that I don't care why you don't like it. For starters I wrote most of the script about 7 years ago and I've changed a lot since then. Secondly I have access to a wealth of super talented developers who give me amazing constructive feedback. Finally your comment about 7 Days A Spooky made me realise you're not a man of taste. Ultimately your opinion is of no consequence, you are not a special snowflake. I'm sorry I had to break it to you.
I played the White Chamber. I cleared it in about an hour. Tough I would like it to be longer and more action. A complete different gameplay. Not a point and click. More like Silent Hill or Resident Evil style. Maybe a FPS.
What's wrong with point and click? It lets the author to do the scary camera angles that those games might try, but with out the frustrating movement. Past that, there isn't much difference.
Also, a game about running around and shooting everything sort of undermines the scary atmosphere, don't you think?
If you're just going around blowing the fuck out of everything that moves, horror, mind fuck in particular simply does not work very well
Horror is at it's best when you don't have means of killing enemies... Or even any enemies to kill at all. You can be walking for half an hour and not blow up a single zombie, but still be completely enveloped in the game if it has a good atmosphere, still be constantly on the verge of pissing yourself with the lack of any particularily ugly man going "boo!".
@Colddirector To make a player scared you need to stress them out.
Do things to make the player have a lack of confidence in achieving their goals (E.G. powerful threats, low visibility, not knowing WHERE the dangers are, etc)
Remember though, horror is a lot like eating SPAM. It taste great at first, but get's nasty if you eat too much. You have to eat small portions and wait until you eat more until you finish it (give the player a break every once and a while).
@PocketPascal (sorry for two comments, but this is a good tip)
Horror can still be achieved if you give the player the ability to fight back. Having god mode enemies has been done before and gets old. The key thing is that the enemies have to be hard to kill and/or require a great amount of resources as well as make them very dangerous (to keep the player from feeling comfortable).
E.G. Resident Evil, Haunting Grounds, Dead Space
Remember, its still a video game, let the player have some fun! ;D
Which, to be honest, is exactly why adventure games died out and the more accessible raft of casual games replaced it and became a multi-billion dollar industry.
Puzzles are fine, but some adventure games just fucked things up to the point of insanity, carrying a miollion items with exactly ONE point in the game you could ever use them, and that point was 15 hours away.
I'd rather have pizza then a share in an Indie games developer...

Ha Ha HA! Nice ad. The animation seemed lopsided or something, but I still liked it.
Just started White Chamber, first taste of horror I've ever had. It's different...

Heheh. Nice.
White Chamber was a fun game, and I do enjoy the animation/drawing style you use.
Not sure I'd want it to be horror themed, but I do want to see a more expansive game set in the same general universe.
