i have no problem with mrs lovett getting shoved in an oven. i don't like her. my ideal ending to the movie would have been the recovery of lucy's sanity, johanna and antony get married, and sweeney and lucy are happy again together. </3

Sweeney just couldn't choose between Mrs. Lovett and he couldn't forget about his old wife so he killed Mrs. Lovett out of anger. It was good for him that he died, or he would've been so depressed that he would've killed himself anyway.

Acually,

in th emid movie,

when mrs. lovett tells him how she could be twice the wife lucy was,

he never really said anything.. just sort of stared at her, because anthony interupted.. and if you see when he throws her in the fire, it shows a close up of his face, and theres a tear rolling down. The film itself, mr. Todd was suppoes to have hidden feelings for her, witch is why it never really stated he never loved her.

but something came up ( i think) and Mrs. Lovett came over to Mr. T as he was staring out the window...they began speaking seriously and stuff...and she was like "you need to move on" or sumthin like that.

And he paused as if considering it and Anthony or Antony came bursting in and said something about Johanna agreeing to run away with him.

I just remember being like "God Dammit!! Antony you blew it!!!"

Sweeney kills Mrs Lovett at the end of the film because she didn't tell him that his wife was alive (He had been sent to Australia as a prison sentence on a false charge) and he killed his wife by mistake he was then so angry with Mrs Lovett that he killed her. :(
