The perfect upset!?!?!? This was the two of the top three teams that year playing one game. A perfect upset is when #6 beats #1 once or #4 beats #1 in a seven game series. Not this.

Note 1:04: The laces of the football are pointing toward the kicker, and not away from him -- a cardinal sin. Why does Norwood get so much grief and the holder -- Frank Reich -- get a free pass? Ever try to kick a long FG accurately with your foot connecting with the laces? Anyone who knows football knows that there is a sense of failure to be shared, here. God bless Norwood, who's taken so much abuse over the years w/o blaming his teammate.

Being favored means, if you lose, its an upset. I state my case, the BB were favored that super bowl, we had a better team then anyone in the league, better stats, better D better O, we should have scraped the giants up and put them in the trash, but thats lost hope. 1990's were prime years, now its bullshit. Buffalo Bills are trash. We should have gotten Vick, i dont give a shit about the whole dog scenario, as long as we get a good QB.
For everyone who DOESNT KNOW, the giants shouldnt have even been there. We played them in the season and CRUSHED THEM 56-12. This was an upset, they werent even suppose to be there. They sucked terribly during the season.
What are you talking about? The Giants lost to the Bills in Week 15, yes, but the score was 17-13. I would atleast expect a Bills fan to find excuses, but to make up lies goes to show the kind of fans they have.
@Paulyfr3sh, ur an idiot. The Bills beat the Giants 17-13 in week 15 of that season, in the game where Phil Simms suffered a season ending injury. The Giants did not suck terribly as u said. The Giants went 13-3 in the regular season before blowing out the Bears in the divisional round and then beating the Joe Montana-led 49ers in the NFC Championship. And they reached the Super Bowl with their backup QB Jeff Hostetler.
@BallinNQnz Suck my nut? If you read statistical information, the Bills were favored to win. Favored being, expected to win, so yes, it was a fucking upset. Read a book before you go and comment ignorant bullshit on youtube. E thug.
@Paulyfr3sh, yes the Bills were favored but it does not mean the Giants sucked. Going 13-3 in the regular season is hardly a record of a bad team. The Giants were very good during the Bill Parcells era. Parcells is a hall of fame coach. The Giants had many perenial pro bowlers on that 1990 squad. Give the Giants credit for their game plan and execution. Even the coaching staff had future head coaches who have won super bowls.
Forget about Scott Norwood's wide right FG attempt. that ain't shit!! how about the fact the Buffalo Bills made 4 goddamn Superbowl appearances. 4!!!! and loses all 4 of them!!! Im sick of people especially you dumb beer drankin', shotgun toting, Bills fans put all the blame on Scott Norwood, and all the blame should be put on your no clutch havin' BUFFALO BILLS for wining 0 out of 4 super bowls!!
1 out of 5 from that distance on grass? No, he should never have been in that position to begin with.
The Giants held the ball for 2/3rds of the game. Buffalo was 1 for 8 on third down. If people insist on blaming someone, they should take a closer look at Reed and Kelly.
still the most dramatic ending to a Super Bowl....a terrific game, a true battle of wills
it amazes me how the Giants got no respect going into this game, despite having beaten the two-time defending World Champion 49ers in San Fran for the NFC Championship, starting the season 10-0 (finishing 13-3), and allowing the least amount of points defensively in the entire league....and the NFC being infinitely tougher than the AFC during that time
This is great...NYCparkour, can you upload the video of this same show of the 1990 Giants...but show the part of how Belichick's defensive strategy won the game for the under dog Giants.
I'm from Buffalo.Holy fuck this town will never catch a break. 4 straight losses in the Super Bowl. We haven't sniffed the playoffs since 99 and that was a complete embarrassment of a game. Atleast we have a consistent hockey team but then again this is Buffalo and we will just choke.I don't even care if I don't have hope it's just inevitable. The Sabres and the Bills don't know how to lose gracefully, they will keep it close and then ejaculate on us fans with a mix of gas and fire burn the city
From a Minnesota fan, we feel yer pain! lol We've gone to 4 super bowls, never to win ONE, then we've choked in 5 NFC title games... So really, it's all good... They'll get one eventually. Hell, let's get a Bills vs Vikings thing going!! =D
@Pr1ceisright I'm sure that anyone who's favorite team has reached a super bowl, but hasn't won one feels the Bills pain. I'm a Chargers fan and in my opinion, if the Chargers would've beat the Jets this past AFC Divisional game, they definitely would've gotten to the super bowl and beat the Saints no doubt.
you dont dominate a confrence four straight years too often in the nfl. you cant talk shit about the bills even though the cowboys did destroy them in the first Super Bowl the played in. The other two Buffalo kept pace with Washington and Dalllas but still lost.
it should have never come down to a field goal. the bills admitted to staying up all night into the morning drinking and partying before the superbowl.
You cant take away the fact that the Bills were easily the best team in the AFC in the early '90's, but there were probably 2 or even 3 NFC teams every year from 1985-1993 that were better than the best the AFC had at the time.
Can you think of another team that made it to the super bowl 4 TIMES IN A ROW?! I think not. Sure they lost, but they are 4 time AFC Champs. Not a lot of teams can say that.
first time i eveer saw this. Scott Norwood was injured before the season and was planning to retire due to a knee injury. he was playing golf one day and met my dad, and they ended up talking and Norwood explained his problem. my dad being a
physical therapist, fixed his knee. norwood asked how he could repay him and my dad said just thank me after you score the winning field goal kick in the superbowl. the day after the "wide right," he called my dad up and, in a non-negative way, sweared at him and asked how he knew that was going to happen.-true story
Wrong. They were the #2 seed team in the NFC. The only team that they beat which was considered an upset was the 49ers. However the 49ers barely beat the Giants 7-3, in the reg season. The Bills would also be considered an upset, but they would end up losing four in a row.
Fact is, Giants should have made it to the Super Bowl that year. And they won it.
it's horrible to know that norwood will always be remembered for this one moment in his life.....when he had such a great career. seriously, look up his stats, he is a legend.
Norwood tried to kill himself after this game. Lagter that night, he went home, put a gun to his head, and pulled the trigger. Fortunately, the bullet was wide right.
this is the first NFL game i remember watching and paying attention to. it must suck to be a kicker who fails to win a SB. almost like being a Bills fan :)
holy shit! i think thats the first time i EVER seen parcells smile!
was it me, or was that a bad set for the holder? the laces are pointing FAR right (same way the ball goes wide)
No its not you,,the whole damm thing was fixed for them to lose,,,the laces were facing scotty not the goal post,,,but I cant figure out why Frank Reich would dilberately set the ball that way,,,He mustve got paid a helluva lot of money,,,fucking shame blaming poor scotty
This was the closest score for Buffalo in the Superbowl, the next 3 after that weren't so memorable. Getting blown out by the Redskins the next year and getting torched by the Cowboys the last two definitely didn't deliver any memorable moments.
Hey I remember memorable moments in SB against redskins,,I believe the score was 34 to 17,,,17 for bills ,,17 for redskins,,17 for the refs,,,I didnt blame andre for ripping his helmet off on the field either,,,the refs were blind as bats ,,on the so many interference calls that wernt called on the redskins,,,another fixed fucking game ,,,yes the only 2 SB bills shouldve lost was against the cowboys
no, it was not a choke job. I would never want to be a kicker for reasons just like this. Sometimes you make them and sometimes you miss them. that's football. love the Giants, but you have to feel bad for Norwood. Tough break for him, but he got a hero's welcome when he returned to Buffalo, so that was good.
Buffalo was better than New York that year. In every category statistically that is. If they had that Steve Christie, they would have won the Superbowl. But as last year showed, the better team doesn't always win. And last year we were all happy that NY dethroned the D-Bags from Boston. Props to NY for this SB tho, Bills were a great team.
I'll risk the negative ratings...however I disagree...the Giants dominated time of possession, held the Bills to one score, played in a tougher conference, and won the SB with a backup QB and rb. I think the 90 Giants were the better team.
Well the Giants were a great team, but everyone knows that Simms was at the end of his career at that point, and Hostetler was ready to take over. If Montana isn't knocked out of the conference game, it's questionable that the Giants win the NFC. Time of possession doesn't always show who's better. Look at the 98 Vikings or 99 Rams. They scored in average of a few minutes, and rarely dominated the TOP. But Giants were great that year, not taking anything away from them
I would disagree with your point that Simms was done...he was great in 90...he lead the NFC and I think NFL in passer rating(this guy played in the windy meadowlands btw) as for Montana getting knocked out...the Giants defense is physical...and they beat players up. And if Simms or Hampton played...maybe they dominate the 49ers. I like Hoss but Simms is better. Plus Steve Young was not exactly a scrub.
Actually Simms was #5 on pass rating. Also, the NFL data base in the following categories doesn't even have Simms in the top 10: Pass TD's, Completion Percentage, or Passing Yards. Incidentally Kelly is in the top 10 if not top 5 in all of those. Listen, not taking away from what they acomplished, their D was great that year, ranked #1. But Buffalo was a juggernaut and so was San Fran, it's a shame that those two teams never played in a SB. Props to NY, but Norwood gift wrapped that SB.
We'll just agree to disagree... I thought the 90 Giants were every bit as good as San Fran and Buffalo that year starting 10-0 before the injuries to Simms. The Game vs San Fran was called SB 24 one half. Most thought NY and San Fran were the best two.
You know the Giants kicked their best WR off their team. They won the SB without their starting QB, WR, and RB.
And Norwood had to make a 47 yard field goal on grass. It wasn't a chippy.
One of the best offenses in history. This was before the 98 Vikings, 99 Rams, or the 07 Pats. The Bills were amazing. But you are right the G- men had a great gameplan and hit Buffalo hard.
NO ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if Frank Reich wouldve turned the ball with the laces facing the goal post,,we wouldve won,,,it is reich's fault we lost not Scott Norwood,,,tired of people blaming Scottie
The only way this could have been sweeter is if the football had clanked off the right upright, bounced down onto the crossbar, bounced up and clanked off the left upright, fallen back down onto the crossbar spinning on its point, and then fallen forward.
The perfect upset!?!?!? This was the two of the top three teams that year playing one game. A perfect upset is when #6 beats #1 once or #4 beats #1 in a seven game series. Not this.

giants shouldnt have even made it to the superbowl that year. they upsetted like 5 games.
Paulyfr3sh 2 years ago
Jikk 2 years ago
I don't ever recall a 13-3 team that shouldn't have made it to the Super Bowl.
The fact is, we started off 10-0 in the '90 season and split the final 6 games, not to mention Simms going down with a season ending foot fracture.
Then everyone started writing us off, which is an annual thing for the Giants but as always, we persevered and won the whole fucking thing.

I wish!!
I usually have a tendency to say "we" whenever I talk about the Giants.
But only the real diehardcore Giant fans would say so and understand. lol

it's horrible to know that norwood will always be remembered for this one moment in his life.....when he had such a great career. seriously, look up his stats, he is a legend.

DStandsForDynasty 2 years ago
No its not you,,the whole damm thing was fixed for them to lose,,,the laces were facing scotty not the goal post,,,but I cant figure out why Frank Reich would dilberately set the ball that way,,,He mustve got paid a helluva lot of money,,,fucking shame blaming poor scotty

hey guys, just read, on superbowl 44 Simms is going to be there, might be flipping the coin or something :D! Maybe Giants will go!
I hope giants get marvin harrison.

This was the closest score for Buffalo in the Superbowl, the next 3 after that weren't so memorable. Getting blown out by the Redskins the next year and getting torched by the Cowboys the last two definitely didn't deliver any memorable moments.
Canuck204 2 years ago
Hey I remember memorable moments in SB against redskins,,I believe the score was 34 to 17,,,17 for bills ,,17 for redskins,,17 for the refs,,,I didnt blame andre for ripping his helmet off on the field either,,,the refs were blind as bats ,,on the so many interference calls that wernt called on the redskins,,,another fixed fucking game ,,,yes the only 2 SB bills shouldve lost was against the cowboys
hope4hunter2000 1 year ago
no, it was not a choke job. I would never want to be a kicker for reasons just like this. Sometimes you make them and sometimes you miss them. that's football. love the Giants, but you have to feel bad for Norwood. Tough break for him, but he got a hero's welcome when he returned to Buffalo, so that was good.
vefey 2 years ago
really? that was nice of them. he prolly expected to be tar and feathered!
DStandsForDynasty 2 years ago
This still hurts!!! We should have won this game. 47 yards was not an easy kick. I wouldn't call it a choke job. Could you kick a 47 yarder ???

poor bills, srsly they got the worst luck, 4 in a row, and now they have the longest playoff drought in the nfl.

MIZZOUJT 3 years ago 4
I'll risk the negative ratings...however I disagree...the Giants dominated time of possession, held the Bills to one score, played in a tougher conference, and won the SB with a backup QB and rb. I think the 90 Giants were the better team.
Pksoze 3 years ago
Well the Giants were a great team, but everyone knows that Simms was at the end of his career at that point, and Hostetler was ready to take over. If Montana isn't knocked out of the conference game, it's questionable that the Giants win the NFC. Time of possession doesn't always show who's better. Look at the 98 Vikings or 99 Rams. They scored in average of a few minutes, and rarely dominated the TOP. But Giants were great that year, not taking anything away from them
MIZZOUJT 3 years ago
I would disagree with your point that Simms was done...he was great in 90...he lead the NFC and I think NFL in passer rating(this guy played in the windy meadowlands btw) as for Montana getting knocked out...the Giants defense is physical...and they beat players up. And if Simms or Hampton played...maybe they dominate the 49ers. I like Hoss but Simms is better. Plus Steve Young was not exactly a scrub.
Pksoze 3 years ago
Actually Simms was #5 on pass rating. Also, the NFL data base in the following categories doesn't even have Simms in the top 10: Pass TD's, Completion Percentage, or Passing Yards. Incidentally Kelly is in the top 10 if not top 5 in all of those. Listen, not taking away from what they acomplished, their D was great that year, ranked #1. But Buffalo was a juggernaut and so was San Fran, it's a shame that those two teams never played in a SB. Props to NY, but Norwood gift wrapped that SB.
MIZZOUJT 3 years ago
We'll just agree to disagree... I thought the 90 Giants were every bit as good as San Fran and Buffalo that year starting 10-0 before the injuries to Simms. The Game vs San Fran was called SB 24 one half. Most thought NY and San Fran were the best two.
You know the Giants kicked their best WR off their team. They won the SB without their starting QB, WR, and RB.
And Norwood had to make a 47 yard field goal on grass. It wasn't a chippy.
That's just my opinion.
Pksoze 3 years ago
You make some good points my friend. I'm not even a Buffalo fan, I just think that they were one of the best teams in history that year. O
MIZZOUJT 3 years ago
One of the best offenses in history. This was before the 98 Vikings, 99 Rams, or the 07 Pats. The Bills were amazing. But you are right the G- men had a great gameplan and hit Buffalo hard.
MIZZOUJT 3 years ago
Giants Defense was ranked #1 that year so Buffalo wasn't better than them in every statistic. Offensively Buffalo was better but not Defensively.

The New JERSEY Giants CHEATED the Buffalo Bills out of winning SB XXV.
2371ROCKY 2 years ago
Tell me, how did the cheat?
Jkw718 2 years ago 3
NO ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if Frank Reich wouldve turned the ball with the laces facing the goal post,,we wouldve won,,,it is reich's fault we lost not Scott Norwood,,,tired of people blaming Scottie

The only way this could have been sweeter is if the football had clanked off the right upright, bounced down onto the crossbar, bounced up and clanked off the left upright, fallen back down onto the crossbar spinning on its point, and then fallen forward.
