  • Great video your voice is fine

  • you could cut this video down to about 3 minutes!

  • i love that side mirror! where can i get that?

  • Valvoline is shitty oil

  • CORRECTION should have read "should only be replaced hand tight!"

  • Good video, I have always been told the oil filter should on be replaced hand tight!

  • You have good teaching and narration skills.

  • You're awesome.

  • just finished changing my oil on my Ranger for the first time today. I just followed your video step-by-step and it worked flawlessly. Thanks!

  • now i know how to do it myself. Thanks.

  • You're awesome pal. Thanks a lot for this buddy.

  • one point i would add is take the oil filler cap off before draining the oil and this will help it flow out the oil sump/pan. i didnt do it once and it made a fair bit of mess, 2nd time i done it i took cap off and it flowed alot better. good video otherwise.

  • Very thourough and helpful vid. I'm gonna attempt it tomorrow. Thanks!

  • enjoyable to change oil?

    getting covered in oil

    getting dirty

losing oil drain plug in pan

having car fall on top of you while under the car

time wasted using a floor jack and not an air jack lol you got a sick and twisted mind

  • hi we have bought a 2nd hand car and it was our first car. it was nissan homy and im gonna try to change the oil myself. i was wondering if, can i change the oil without changing the filter? please help thanks

  • @MarvinArmedDragon you can but you might as well go ahead and change the filter

  • @MarvinArmedDragon You can change the oil without changing the filter. Change the filter every 30,000 miles or so. If you bought the car used from a person and not a deler, you may want to change it anyway. They are only about $10.00

  • how many qts for a 2001 aztek

  • awesome....subbed.

  • That was a handy video, I'm going to service my van at the weekend, its a Ford Transit, and its the first time I've EVER serviced a vehicle! I really didn't want to at first, but it'll cost me £50 to do it myself, compared to about £200 for a mechanic! I'm going to change the oil+filter, diesel filter and air filter. Your engine is totally different from mine, but you've already shown some good practices that will apply to mine! I'm really looking forward to it now.

  • What anybody that read this comment would recommend using on a turbocharged engine, specifically sr20det? Also what type of filter? Thank you.

  • Make sure your towels have flowers on them.

  • Wow! This a guaranteed 100% grade presentation, did u go to college? You did a great job on every detail and every step. You have a future in the mechanics industry! Go for it!!!!

  • Great job young man! Very helpful. I am now going to change my own oil for the very first time.

  • Thank you so much. :D

  • I ALWAYS USE A OIL FILTER SOCKET TO TAKE OFF AND PUT BACK ON ALL MY OIL FILTERS. I NEVER USE OIL FILTER BANDS BEACUSE THEY WILL CRUSH THE INTERNAL FILTER COMPERMISLING IT'S OIL FLOW EFFICENCY. I ALWAYS FILL THE OIL FILTER WITH OIL BEFORE SCREWING THE NEW ONE ON. OH YEAH I ALL MOST FORGOT TO MENCHION I USE SFR OIL ADTITIVES WITH EVERY OIL/FLUID CHANGE. EVERY OTHER OIL ADTITIVE IS SNAKE OIL AND YES INCLUDING LUCAS OIL ADTITIVES.

  • @Eagleoneradiogod all manufacturers dont require you to fill the new oil filter with oil because they have tech. that wont allow a dry start

  • yeah...definetly clean up after yourself. very helpful

  • This was a very useful demonstration. I'm hopefully going to be working under a mechanic within this week to start learning about the trade and you did a very good job helping me understand how to do an oil change in a safe and timely fashion. Thank you!

  • thanks baby .was cool

  • its better if you take off the oil cap and then take out the old oil (then it comes out quicker) oh and at 11.30 u should have just turned off the engine to speak

  • its better if you take off the oil cap and then take out the old oil (then it comes out quicker)

  • If you have to use a tool to loosen the oil filter the dumb ass before has over tightened the filter. When I come across a simple retard oil change from the dealership, the filter is almost always over torqued.

This is why you should do your own oil changes, and leave the difficult services to professionals. You're all faggots if you cannot change your own oil, uou DO NOT deserve to own a motor vehicle.

  • @BallsInYourJawsBitch My daddy changes my oil :)

  • @ 4:40, you named it: engine temperature gauge, but that's the gauge of the cooling water! but I must say it's a very interesting video! thx a lot!

  • @Helghast470 the cooling water is the same temp as the blovk, hint that is what the coolent is used for!

  • You never ever use a torque wrench to REMOVE A BOLT EVER!!! Your gonna fuck it up like that.

  • Great video. The only critique I have is to take a few classes in broadcasting. It will help give you a more professional voice for your videos. Thanks.

  • good vid.

  • Goodman Dan! Thanks

  • Great video very informative, I have a 97 Chevy Malibu and everything was right where you said it was! even my stoned ass could pull this excessively simple task off without a problem ;)

  • great comprehensive video on changing oil! great job! make more vids on car stuff please!!!

  • This video is 1000x better than that stupid 100 part expert village series.

  • very informative.....Thanks

  • Daniel, thank you for posting this. I just decided the other day to start changing my own oil, and have been looking for a good quality video guide that is made by a competent guy. I noticed that you have a few other how-to guides. I'm going to refer to you every time I have to work on my car. Thanks again.

  • Who here has to watch this for first couple times because they keep forgetting how change the oil.

  • Why do you want to save the used oil in a container?

  • @momin8888 He put it in a container so he can take it to a recycling center like he said. Did you not pay attention?

  • 12:12 did he run over something?

  • @DrPhilAwesome maybe he has a lift

  • Especially with such a large filter, you should pre-fill the oil filter where possible to give the engine less time without oil pressure. It took several seconds for the oil pump to fill up the filter itself. On most engines, the filter is vertical and its easy to fill the filter all the way up before installing it. On the engines with a horizontal or vertical filter, you can still usually pour a bit in without making a mess installing it.

  • 0:00

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing.

  • THIS MIGHT SOUND LIKE A DUMB QUESTION, BUT IM JUST GONNA GO AHEAD AND ASK YOU.

DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY LITERS OF OIL DOES A 1991 FORD THUNDERBIRD

    V-6 3.8 ENGINE TAKE???

  • @chupacabras143 wow no caps, no one wants to help you now

  • ur hand need wash -_- u must use a hand yellow savier

  • very helpful, thank you.

  • you got enough isnt it like ten quarts

  • @jayguy173 15 quarts for the 7.3 turbo diesel. I had about four of those containers.

  • @DanielJaegerFilms I don't know what in the name of God anybody needs a 7.3 litre engine for unless your trying to tow a concrete truck. The sooner Americans start paying the same petrol/gas price we pay in Europe the better. A 3 litre engine is deemed a big engine in Europe and will tow anything you need to tow.

  • @boscoesarmy - Will a 3 litre engine tow a 10,000 - 20,000 lb. boat or motorhome? If Americans were to pay the same overtaxed price for fuel as those unfortunate Europeans do, it would bring on a financial crisis that would make the Great Depression look like a party and it would affect the entire world. I can't imagine why you'd want that to happen?

  • @HiTechOilCo A 3 litre in europe will tow that ya. A 7.3 would pull a concrete truck.

  • @boscoesarmy - Find that very hard to believe that a little 3 litre engine would have the torque to adequately/safely tow a 30 - 40 foot long boat, or motorhome.

  • @HiTechOilCo Engine size isn't always synonymous with power, my 3.1 liter will put out about 140 hp with around 100ish ft.lbs of tourque (new) a yammaha SHO engine (3.0 liters) will put out 220hp with 200ft.lbs of tourque, it's all how it's designed

  • @DanielJaegerFilms

    a diesel in the US?

  • @Helghast470 why did you ask, "a diesel in the US?" for? Of course there are diesels here...

  • @xLinkinPark209x

it was sarcastic, not a lot of diesels sold in US am i right? not so much as here in Holland

  • thank you so much! it's very nice of you to teach us how things work!

  • im driving a mercedes m class currently and wot amazes me about it is the oil filter is right on top of the engine right next to the oil filler cap...amazing that a german car company would make something that simple, when other companies always make them so much harder to get to, to make you just want to take it in

  • what do you think of Wix oil filter quality?

  • i love my garage. cause theres no problem getting under the car. one of the only residential garages ive seen with a 5 foot pit.

  • This was very informative, and great filming angles as well!

  • Thanks Daniel, you have even helped a guy at the other end of the planet... Fiji Island... i just wonder how possible to get myself a filter wrench on this island...big thanks again

  • Glad i found this video, it helped alot and answered a bunch of questions i had. It was a good tutorial. Thanks!

  • Great vid! Definly the best vid i have seen so far. im going be changing the oil in my 87 IROC-Z which iv never done and i remembered everything but wanted to make sure i would do it properly. Thanks!

  • thanks for posting this. i needed to learn this. subscribed.

  • Nice job daniel! :)

  • iam 11 years old so i want to be a mechanic and vids like these are great

  • I understand telling people of the proper tools but I have never used a torque wrench for any of my many oil changes. Also in most cases, the only time you will need an oil filter wrench is when an idiot(nicely said) puts the filter on to tight.

  • This was the most useful video I found. Thanks.

  • Really awesome tut Daniel. You should make more tut's boy cause you are really talented, i could watch your tut's even on TV...

One silly question : Is that FORD an Diesel ? cause it sounded like diesel ...

  • thanks a lot dan...your tutorial has been of great use.keep up the good work...

  • clear demo! well done.

  • I ALWAYS fill the new filter with some oil.. I mean why not. It cant hurt and it saves your engine that 10-15 seconds of no oil pressure at all.. Unless of course its a Toyota or a Mercedes and it has the filter upside down.

  • nice one man, well done!

  • nice one man, great vid. well done

  • Still,..I would use the right wrench for the job...NOT an adjustable.

    Especially for amatures.

Adjustables are okay in a pinch, but if you have the proper tools...USE THEM.

    You'll thank me later. ;)

    Good vid other than that.

  • nice video, very clear and simple, thanks bro......

  • Great video!

  • oil rack dude!!!!

  • my 57 garraw does not even have a drain plug

  • For decades we run LAB tests on Rotella oil "AGAINST" everyone else.

Used oil Lab Test Analysis showed that Rotella start braking at 15,000 miles (constantly); the second one was at 6,250.

For prevention we change the oil every 10,000 miles.

If you have enough vehicles in your fleet, take the oil to a lab to find out the truth; NOT WHAT THE "PROPAGANDA MACHINE" is selling us. Dont waste money and pollution; it is easy to perform a viscosity check with your fingers

  • Hi, thanks for the video. •1) To AVOID unnecessary oil spilling, I NEVER pre-fill the filters. When finish, run engine for 3 minutes, Stop engine, Check the engine oil level and refill if necessary. •2) THE ONLY FUNCTION that coating the oil filter seal is for, is that when turning (screwing) the filter on, the seal can slide on its coated surface instead of damaging the seal. DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH SEALING THE SEAL!!!

  • @CantFndaName okay i'm not hear to bash anything u said but another thing putting oil on the gasket will do is make it easier to remove the next time u change your oil trust me try not putting oil on the gasket one and then try to remove it when it's time to change the oil again it's not fun

  • k&n filters comes with a nut on the end, there really helpful

  • Thanks Dan

  • Awesome video, thanks. Very helpful and easy to understand :)

  • huge help! I have been wanted to do this for years! Thanks!

  • good vid man....no more wasting money at a oil changin place

  • Thanks! You're a great teacher :)

  • Thanks thts great...!

  • *****

  • Very good, but you missed out priming the pump and new oil filter prior to starting the engine. It's a fairly simple procedure, but as you appear to be some sort of garage mechanic, I'll leave you to work out how it's done, as I'm not telling you! Anyway, this avoids running the engine for 15 seconds or so without oil pressure.

  • Thanks Daniel!!

  • ty men, great vid and lesson

  • thanks dude , ur great , helped me alot , oing to change ma oil , juz now , kinda scared to fuck up , but i wana try as u said :D hahahaha , rock on dude

  • great video, have you got one for transmission oil changes?

  • where can i find the oil plug in a 1995 camaro

  • A good oil can prolong ur engine's life, and... a pair of nitrile gloves on ur hands when u deal with hydrocarbons can let you grow old with less chances of developing a cancer.

Take care of both things... it would be silly to be outlasted by ur truck! :)

  • alkenes and alkynes. damn..... fuck chemistry

  • This is the best video I have seen on oil change. Very instructional and neat tricks too. I am particularly impressed with oil temp considerations; I have never thought about that before. Thanks Dan!

  • Use latex gloves then you could forget getting oil on your hand.

  • Thinking every word before speaking.....

You've a great job with this video

  • If you were in the UK with compulsorily car insurance, it would cost you about $15,000 a year just to insure that ford.

  • well partner, this here is America, and we do shit big. Ya dig?

  • @1000rtodd

Ya dig! that you don't have compulsory car insurance.

  • well compulsory insurance as I understand it is forced insurance, and, we most def have that here in the states. As it is illegal to drive without a certain amount of coverage on any veichle. Insurance is probably higher on an excursion-didnt even know you guys had those)-across the pond because Europe frowns upon gas guzzlers. But here in the staes

  • just the uneducated hill billy's.

  • Nice Vid

  • clear explanation..!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks. Excellent job!

  • Good Video.

  • Id like to see you change the filter that I had to change yesterday that easily it had been on so long that the filter wrench would just bend the filter we had to take a chisel and almost cut the filter off of it so its not always best to change oil your self if you dont have the know how to get something off when its fucked up or youll be sitting with a fucked up oil filter with a whole in it and cant get it off to take it to a professional most of the time this does not happen but sometimes.

  • Great job, video was very clear!

  • Thanks for this video, it´s very clear!

  • I'm still scratching my head how you got this video to load more then 10 minutes cuz I thought that was the Youtube limit.

  • For vehicals with low clearence I don't think that ramps would be a good idea for if the car/truck (oil pan) is pitched at an angle you may not get all the old oil out of the oil pan. Also I NEVER use a cesent (adjustabal) wrench on a drain plug. Always use a socket or box wrench. Also I wait til the engine is cool all the way so I'm not burning my hands removing the oil filter on the exaust manifold as I did on my 3.0ltr Ranger. Not all of us can be lucky enough to drive a Ford Excurstion.

  • best video for doing this prosess so far

  • good job...very helpful

  • good job

  • you can beat the 7.3 powerstroke

  • Goob job

  • GRACIAS POR EL TUTORIAL

  • Ramps! Of course! I was always too scared to do my oil changes because I always heard about friends / family being crushed by cheap car jacks. Ramps are a great alternative. Going to try that today.

  • Great video. I'm considering changing my own oil. I drive a Chrysler 300 and it rides pretty low. I'd definitely need some jacks. I know most places charge only 25 or 30 bucks for an oil change, but if I can do it myself I will.

  • i changed my oil on my 99 pont. grand prix yesterday 10/27 and it was fun as hell to watch that old oil drain out lol but the crazy part is i almost couldnt get the oil filter off. but yeah it was very fun im a dyi kinda person depending on what it is though. but before u go buy all the oil and filters and things make sure u can get to all the stuff u need to remove like the plug and filter.

  • Thank you so much for the detailed video!!

Watching this before attemping my 1st oil change about 1 1/2 hours ago really helped.

You should think about adding Advil on your tools list :) I certainly needed it.

    Thanks again!!!

  • yay! i've always wanted to know how to change my own oil. thanks so much!

  • i never knew wut auto shops do with the used engine oil til now lol

  • This was so helpful :) Thank you.

  • Good job buddy.. Keep up the good work !

Very talented doing this professionally without a script !

  • great video.. thanks alot

  • Damn this was helpful! Thanks for posting this up!

  • Great video. very thorough. Thanks!

  • Excellent DIY. The one thing you didn't mention is that many manufacturers recommend that the drain plug gasket be changed at each oil change; maybe the Excursion has an all-in-one gasket and plug.

  • Thanks for the knowledge man

  • goodjob.

  • nice video man. Nice truck too.

  • thank u man.

that was complete . useful , perfect show.

from today i will do as exactly as u did.

  • Hi, i have a miata and i'm going to change the oil this weekend. the handbook said to "pre fill" the oil filter....Am i suppose to just fill up the filter before i put it back in?

    thanks

  • You got it! Yep, when they say prefill the filter, that means fill the new filter with new oil before installing the filter on the engines.

  • BTW, I wouldn't want to bother you, Daniel, but maybe you could make a do-it-yourself guide for noobs? I mean a mere description of things you can do to your car without going to the service center will do. And a tutorial will be just perfect.

  • I plan on making more tutorial videos when I get time, so yeah, I can.

  • Upon my life, a comprehensive oil changing tutorial! How dare you to exceed a 2 min limit for oil changing vids? :-))

I reckon those other "experts" think: "You're not gonna do it yourself, are you? You are!? Well, here's a 2 min vid for you. Take it or leave it".

Thanks for 12 mins of your precious time. Great job.

  • thank you daniel. i'm a 23 yr old lady and mechanics i found out had been ripping me off for oil change. they charge me more that forty for regular oil. So i 'm learning to do this myself and i believe i can. i have a honda civic 05, the thing i'm scared about is the oil spilling on my hands.

  • You can wear gloves to protect your hands from the engine oil. Glad you found this video useful!

  • i got an 08 honda civic, dealer always does oil changes for 15 bucks
