It´s a new kit with totally new sound architecture (alternating samples) that previously only could be found on drum plugins such as SD2.0 and BFD. It´s created by the guy behind Ddrum that pioneered e-drumming years ago... And I love it!!
is the same s*** that ez drummer but now u can modify the mics... i have it and i don't like it AT ALL, is EXTREMELY HEAVY (like 20gb full instalation) and didn't worth any single byte. Addictive drums still kick ass
I'm barely exploring this stuff, but could someone tell me if this program only works with an electronic set. Is it possible to program it like a drum machine? I don't want to spend that kind of money if I can't use it as a drum machine. (I'm not a drummer. haha)
i have just purchased SD 2.0 and i am having trouble getting my drum sequences to export to logic pro 9, if any one has any tips for me please let me know it is greatly appreciated
There are no double bass kit included in the core content of Superior Drummer 2.0, but there's a feature called X-drums which gives you the option to add another bassdrum (or more!). You can use this feature for other stuff as well, like combining two snares.
You know, the studios keep closing, guys like this are helping to preserve these legendary studios and drum room. In a way, technology has destroyed them, and preserved them all in the same..
If I use a set like the one in the video, and record with S2.0 and Cubase, will I be able to separate the drums into separate tracks or is everything recording on one track. Now with EZ Player por you can separate the tracks pre-recorded. Is any of this possible using a drum kit?
There would be no use in buying a Roland TD-12 if I'd just run SD 2.0 through it would it? I'm inclined to just buy the TD-9 and run SD through my laptop.
But one thing I don't understand is.. all I have to do is hook up from my laptop to the TD-9 module and that's it? Or do I have to buy another module ??
I want to know how to get an aggressive-smashing-the-drums-as-hard-as-possible-sound with superior drummer. Can someone please tell me how to do this as concisely as possible? I will give you credit when I become famous if you can tell me.
Hi, i install the superior drummer 2.21 and the first DVD from the metal foundry addon.
I can use the drumkit from the metal foundery, but i cant see the Metal foundery libraries or even see the superior libraries entry in my superior drummer...i only see my old grooves from the ez player .
why?
Have i to install the full 35 gb to see the superior libraries from the metal foundery.
You can use it with any MIDI device. Keyboard, E-dums, pad surface etc. You can also simply use your mouse to insert and edit notes in your sequencer, or use the pre-made MIDI grooves that is included with Superior Drummer 2.0 and all the expansion packs.
@Toontrack I have question i am new to all this stuff and my question is while i am playing in my drums can i change the sound of my pads with ezdrummer or superior drummer 2.0 and record it? PLEASE REPLY
Nir Z is playing Hart Dynamics Pro kit 6.4 through a Roland TD-20, triggering Superior Drummer® 2.0 in his laptop. He is using the Allaire library from the N.Y Vol.2 SDX™
I have been using this plugin since version 1. Used to think BFD was better because of the grooves, percussion expansions and it's MUCH bigger room mics.
Now I haven't used it for the last 2 years since this thing came out.
If you are from an engineering background then this is the ONLY plugin you want. After this everything else just sounds like a sampler.
..but if that's what your after then great, get something else.
I've been using it for quite some time along with all the other EZ kits (except for electronic which I don't have as of yet) and I swear by these kits. Nothing will ever replace the original thing but NOTHING on the market is as close to the original than these kits. I give them a 9.5 out 10 and will continue to use them until (this) company comes out with something better! Drum out Loud..!
Hey, I'm a noob here, and a lot of you might get mad at me but I really need help. I don't really have any clue on how to use this program but I really need drums for songs and these drums sound so real. So can one use this program without using a drum kit or MIDI trigger? Like point and click, sort of like a sequencer I suppose? If someone could please message me help or message me a video that can help, please do. Thank you.
Having the same problem. Sounds like they dont care that their software dosn't work. looked all over toontracks web site but they don't have anything. very unhappy with the support. waste of money!!!!! btw i am a salesman for a major music retailer. im not going to sell this unless they can fix this problem. twigmafia explained it perfectly
Yes, I had this same problem 4 months ago. Here's what you do. In your DAW (digital audio workstation [ie. protools, sonar, cubase, etc..]) install this plugin. once it's installed and your DAW can scan the plugin, it becomes available. Then, you can use a program called step sequencer (in Sonar) or the like in another DAW to manually program the drums. I'm doing this, like this, for all my music from the house. msg me with more questions, i'd love to help
I do all my sequencing using just the mouse and keyboard. Have done it this way for years, since before the original DFH and don't imagine I'll ever change it. The sequencing aspect of it isn't a part of S2.0, it's done in the host software (Cubase, Sonar, etc.)
For the life of me, I can't access the Superior 2.0 sound libraries. I can get to the New York kit, but when I try to set the path for all of the standard Superior 2.0 kits, the green checks appear for dfh superior, custom and vintage, and vintage add-on, but then a pop up appears stating: "You need to set the path to where you installed the sounds before you can use them." Can anybody help me out with this...what am I doing wrong?
Which is better: BFD2 or Superior Drummer? Is the responce better in superior than bfd when playing on a roland v-drum (I have the Roland TD-4 set)? I already have BFD2 and sometimes the responce on the hi-hat, side stick on the snare, and my crash and ride cymbals doesn't respond as good. I have done all the tweaks that I can think of and I have my latency very low when I am recording with having any clipping. Opinions between the 2 are helpful thanks!!!
Great stuff! FYI, the PART 2 video is giving an error message...tried it several times...no go. Wish I coulda made the 08 MAMM show but YT videos are helping me see parts of it. Keep up the great work.
Hello, I need to get one thing clear! I thinking of buying this software to my home studio, but I am not sure of one thing. Is this only for drumkit playing(wich i suck at), or can I use the program without playing the drumkit, programming samples and beats on the computer? Are there samples included in the program, like ez?
You can program it all manually if you want, or you can also use it with any midi controller/keyboard, and assign keys/pads to specific drums. I don't have any midi controller at the moment but there is a learn button for every drum.
AMAZING system. Holy s m o k e s! Those are serious recording studios that are gone now. Sad, but hey, You get them on Superior Drummer. Perfect for basement dwellers like myself, and also live gigs. Flexible.
It's an R.E.T kit, not sure on the model, maybe a stealth which you can pickup for around $2500, but to be honest you can trigger s20 off a midi controller which is what I do. these guys have the kit hooked up to an Alesis trigger I/O which are fairly cheap and are pretty compatible with any electronic drum kit, the R.E.T kits just look and feal authentic. These are the best samples I've heard and every person I've played my tracks to says who's your drummer and where did you record the drums!
I have EZ Drummer with the "Drumkit From Hell" add-on. Can I upload my user-created beats and midi files i created on EZ drummer in Superior Drummer? I just want to tweak my drum "sound" without having to re-write my beats... any help would be appreciated... thanx
10x....but the kick sound is so lame in this drumkit imho...need to boost a lot at 60-90hz to get it sound right, not like in avatar kit, where you can just raise the volume of sub kick mic.........but its just my opinion
Ya know, I don't see why you would need to have all those effects pre-fabbed into the program. I currently have EZdrummer, and I record everything dry and on their own tracks, then add EQ and reverb later.
(I do the same thing with my guitars, clean recording, reamping, makes for easy editing.)
I will still give this a try (downloading it haha), but chances are, I will just do everything the same way. Any opinions on this?
You can use almost any Electric DrumSet (Roland or Yamaha), from the MIDI OUT use an M-Audio UNO (Midi to USB) conect to you computer and open up SD2.0 (or EZ Drummer)
Well I dont know much about Windows, I guess you need a very powerful one, but again, I dont work with windows... I think MAYBE you can midi Thru from the module to the laptop.. I never had Latency problems.
This is great... I need to buy it NOW, Ive been working with EZ Drummer, recording the drums (I play with my fingers thru a Behringer UMX controller) and its good work, I've made $2000+ just with this... so SUPERIOR 2.0 is a MUST
I record (with EZ DRUMMER) Drums for bands an artist... for example, If the drummer cant play with the Click Track and they need to record it good, they call me... or if its a singer/songwriter that doesnt have a drummer, I creat the drum partes, program them w/ EZ Drummer and give him a WAV file of every individual part (snare, tom, kick)... there are so many ways to make money with it
This program is a lot to digest if your a novice. I would recommend the dfh add on for people who want ease of use without needing to tweak and mix too much.
does this prog. come with midi files?... what if i don't have a controler...can i still use it like easy drummer? click-n-drag... how long until more librarys are ready?... can i use my librarys from easy drummer with this prog.?...
Does this programme mean I could like buy this programme and also buy like a rolandtd 9-x and I could get all these sounds and edited sounds on my electric drum kit?
(I do know its used for another reason, but I was wondering if it could be used like that ^^^^)
Man...Pat Thrall doesn't need to expalin who he is does he ???? he is a mean KILLER guitar player...that so few people know about...check out Pat Travers and Hughes Thrall..he is the MAN !!

the sound quality also change when u have a better drum set? Because im gonna

there is 30 preset drum kits but then i can tweak them or create my own?

Can anybody out there LIST the chain of equipment needed for this particular set up -- or similar? (No diy, please)
Actual brand and models would be very helpful.
PC specs/Midi I/O ... etc.
And...are those Harts?
Not sure about the cymbals.
Thanks very much!!! It's hard to get good info on pro set ups ...

You can use almost any Electric DrumSet (Roland or Yamaha), from the MIDI OUT use an M-Audio UNO (Midi to USB) conect to you computer and open up SD2.0 (or EZ Drummer)

Cool Gabriel, thanks very much.
So... my Vaio vgn-fs660/w is all I need, huh?
(and the I/O and the drums) Is there any way to by-pass a Roland or Yamaha module?
Then...
Any latency issues with usb?
(I want this for practicing).
THEN... if I wanted, how could I route quality audio out of the PC?
(If you want to point me to some other sources, I understand. I do appreciate the help --- just want to get this right the first time)
Thanks again,
Phil

Well I dont know much about Windows, I guess you need a very powerful one, but again, I dont work with windows... I think MAYBE you can midi Thru from the module to the laptop.. I never had Latency problems.

This is great... I need to buy it NOW, Ive been working with EZ Drummer, recording the drums (I play with my fingers thru a Behringer UMX controller) and its good work, I've made $2000+ just with this... so SUPERIOR 2.0 is a MUST

how do you make money using it?

I record (with EZ DRUMMER) Drums for bands an artist... for example, If the drummer cant play with the Click Track and they need to record it good, they call me... or if its a singer/songwriter that doesnt have a drummer, I creat the drum partes, program them w/ EZ Drummer and give him a WAV file of every individual part (snare, tom, kick)... there are so many ways to make money with it

This program is a lot to digest if your a novice. I would recommend the dfh add on for people who want ease of use without needing to tweak and mix too much.

I'm a bit confused.
Does this programme mean I could like buy this programme and also buy like a rolandtd 9-x and I could get all these sounds and edited sounds on my electric drum kit?
(I do know its used for another reason, but I was wondering if it could be used like that ^^^^)
Please help, haha.
Cheers,

If so few know about him like you say, then explaining who he is might be a pretty good idea.
