Actually on day one, before she did the Khorkina II skill, she did take an extra swing on the low bar. That was the deduction that Tim mentioned. Her qualification score was 9.450 which I don't get because in the event finals, half of the gymnast scored lower than that and she didn't even qualify.
What I don't understand is how did that deduction keep her out of the event finals? I would of thought that qualification score was good enough to get her through.
Here is what "Tatianagutsu" from Gymworld said about the incident:
"The stadler 1.5 was considered not finished at handstand position, and devalued to D, which cost her sv to 9.8 [...] At first her score was 9.65 but after about 10 minutes the judges decided to cut the sv, very weird."
I'm not exactly sure, but if you watch the team event, she misses the Khorkina II skill (similar to a Shaposhnikova with a 1/2 twist) and takes an extra swing before changing her transition to the high bar. Judges can deduct points for swings which don't lead to any skills.
in the team final she did a stalder full - free hip 1/2 - sole circle....thats not an extra swing, however, she would be deducted for the late pirouette on the free hip 1/2 and obviously the judges knew she messed up so they likely deducted more heavily
nearly every competition was a conspiracy against Svetlana Khorkina, she's literally had to do BETTER than every gymanst just to get the same scores as gymansts that coudln't even perform on the same level as her.
seriously? are you sure you don't just mean on VT and UB? She's been gifted many many times on BB and FX in the 2001-2004 quad, and then on UB at times, too

What was exactly the problem? Why didn't she get start value of 10,00 on qualification?

The judges were being political during prelims. She should have been in the UB finals. Everytine they hold worlds in the US it turns into a big scam.
