@BlahBlahRainbowFish well, being lefthanded helps. ;) If you can't flip it in your head, put a mirror at the side of the computer screen and watch it in the mirror. Then you will see it done righthanded. :)

@SolSara I attempt to do this hairstyle when my hair refuses to stay out of my eyes or mouth while i'm doing this. Unfortunately, I have hair to my hips, and the hair will not stay on the stick for more than 5 minutes. Using the same idea, i find it sturdier to make a simple binding bun, and then weave the stick in and out of the middle. It looks very similar to what you've got there.

My hair stick is a bit too short for this. I seem to loose it when I try it. Haha. Alas! I shall just buy new ones. Oh wait, I think I already have some coming in the mail! Woohoo! :D

When I put it in, it's very tight but it becomes loose fairly quickly. Do you have any solution for this?

If your hair is long, try to wrap an extra turn. Or half a turn. :) Or do a search for other awesome hair stick styles. :) I'm thinking about making a new video for styles with longer hair, so keep an eye out for it.

thanks sooo much but one problem : the bun never stays in the middle, always goes to the left or right. how can i stop this happening????

This happens sometimes to me too. I could be that you have a different hair texture, thicker or heavier hair or just more length. Some suggestions you might try:

1. Try to do it tighter.

2. If you watch the video you can see that the end of the stick just comes out below the knot when finishing it. Try catching a bit of the hair in the knot when exiting instead.

3. Weave the stick in the hair when inserting it.

4. Use a second stick or bobby pins afterwards to secure it.

Maybe you have too short hair, or you don't turn it right. Try do it the opposite way from me, I'm left handed so it might be easier to reverse it if you are right handed. Make sure the tension is right, not too tight but not too loose either. Try moving the stick a bit closer or further from the head.

I was frustrated at first with this style because I've got very long hair (all the way to the bottom of my spine) and couldn't twist enough to get my hair all the way 'up' before it got too tight (ie, I just made a ponytail with a stick instead of a tie)

Played around with it though and found that for really long hair, just start further way from the head and viola :3

Good too hear you found a way to make it with long hair. :) I am now close to waist length and can't make it work anymore. If I can make something that stays, it tug too much on too few strands.. Or I end up with a lot of tail on it.. :)

Oh, to bad to hear, I've broken some hair sticks too. You need to be careful with this style, because it can become very tight. Never force the stick to bend, try to wiggle the style a bit instead.

I think it's mostly a knack for getting it. The thing that did it for me was making sure I turned the chopstick in the correct direction. Depending on which hand I use, I naturally want to twirl in the opposite direction that I should (and then everything falls). The other thing to keep in mind is that you need to make sure to be able to catch those loose ends - my hair isn't quite long enough to do just like hers, the chopstick has to go in at an angle in order for everything to stay up.

If it doesn't hang down too much, you could try just wraping the hair around the hairstick once or twice before you start with the turning. Google Mrs El knot, I think that version is better for longer hair.

I found this one in a bijouterie store. But you can also use a pen/pencil or a chop stick. :) Or search the internet or ebay for hair sticks if you want fanicer ones. :)
