  • maybe he could talk to himself to relay some of the info

  • Hi Ms. Branham!

  • They should have interviewed both of him, surely it feels horrible to be the half-brain that cannot speak when asked a question. they should let the one of him that can't speak write (or however) to give the "other him" a chance to express it's opinions...

The discussions about "his" behavior aren't clear - which him? The left or the right?

  • This is a great clip. I've been looking for good media that could illustrate split brain to my community college students. Thank you.

  • If you change the face on the young man, he's my son. Even the mannerisms are alike. He was diagnosed when he was 10.

  • What? My 10 year old little boy loves showers... a problem with Psychology is it is so general and based on such narrow stats...

  • AgCC is that is such an amazing phenomena. One person may have sever social awkwardness yet another may be a social butterfly. One person may have cerebral pulsey traits yet another will be a medal holding figure skater. One may have terrible short term memory and poor processing speed while another is a wiz on the IQ tests. This brain anomaly is not so much an anomaly as it is a phenomenon. The "experts" try as they may, just can not pigeon hole this crazy amazing, wonderful phenomena

  • This is a pretty weird condition. It shows how strange the brain is; it's both amazing and absurd at the same time.

  • looks a weird as well at 1:37

  • what game was he playing?

  • @paronfisk world of warcraft maybe?

  • My daughter has ACC and the struggle for a parent is to know what to do that will help. Family physicians know nothing about this. Thank you Tony and family for being willing to tell this story for us.

  • c'mon people, it's a joke, don't give thumbs down, it's funny.

  • My son has this. He was diagnosed when he was 15 years old. By not being diagnosed sooner and by us not really understanding what this meant;he missed out on early intervention that I believe,(no documented proof or evidence proven through research that I am aware of) would have been extremely beneficial to him; therapy similar to that provided now to autistic kids.

I'm proud of these kids for their continued efforts to function in a world that is to them, mysterious in many ways.

    GO TONY!!

  • What I would like to know is that if he never developed a corpus callosum, then what exactly happened as he grew? Did the plasticity of the brain change anything for him? Or is it that plasticity hasn't really happened because it's until 10-12 that the corpus callosum really develops?

  • In the video, Dr. Lynn Paul mentions that the Corpus Callosum becomes fully developed around 10 and 12 years of age. However, the Corpus Callosum must develop properly during the pregnancy. If a person does not have his or her Corpus Callosum, it cannot grow later in life. The brain does seem to compensate the missing Corpus Callosum for a lot of ACC kids.

  • @Aquarya The brain is like a 1995 Ford Thunderbird... It over compensates; It has many redundant systems. The human brain is no different. There are other bundle of nerve fibers in the brain that will compensate, a detour, may be annoying but will still get the job done. Agensis of the corpus callosum is an amazing natural phenomenon that only a very lucky select few ever get to experience. I am glad I have the disorder. I finally have something to exploit other then a pretty face ;)
