I remember in March 1963 when my dad bought the same Chevy Super Sport with the 327 motor (if the emblems are correct, it was originally a 327). The 283 motor was indicated by the V under the flaig. If it was a 327 (they had a 250 HP and 300 HP 327 that year) it had the V and flaig above it and the 409 was the V, with the flaig and then "409" above the flaig. The 409, in 1963, came in a mild 340 H.P. or the 400 H.P. (one quad carb) or the 425 H.P. with dual quad carbs.

Then in a few years you can buy them cheap because no one will want to be seen in a stupid ass donk and turn them back to stock for even cheaper.

my 67 caprice average was 10mpg highway- but after a highrise n an edelbrock it suprisingly raised to 14 mpg! =]  im guess newer technology n the highrise produces more horsepower at lower rpm- so i have to press the pedal less for same horsepower!
