Gordon is one of the best chefs in the world but he is still willing to learn new things and if sth he does is going wrong- he's not afraid to admit it
If you'll look at the continuation of the vid, he did manage to do it, and like typical Gordon, he did them perfectly. Gordon may be an ass, but the guy tries hard, learns fast and doesnt give up.
I've worked in a kitchen for years and what you need is skill with a knife, skilled taste buds, a good eye, an accurate sense of time, and most importantly tolerance to heat. 400 degree tandoor isn't even the regular temperature of a simple pizza oven.
i do this kinda thing every sunday, by this i mean making kabobs, i'm Armenian and i've been finding out that Indian and Armenian food are very similar, even the bread is cooked very similarly, but ours is very thin
Well Gordon, What Goes Around comes Around man! That was nice seeing you defeating on others way of cooking when you were Shouting all swears out of ur ass when you were the Top Chef in Hell Kitchen! Good for u man!
my takeway has got 10 variety of nans. the hardest to cook is tomato nan, and keema nan, if you fuck it up, they will split, and all the filling will end in the clayoven.
That nan which came out in pieaces was due to the fact that either the clay oven as too cold, or the water he aplied was bit too much. Heat of the clay oven dictates amount of water used at the back of rolled out nan. Only difficult part in the clay oven is managing the heat in clay oven, and coping with cooking of your arms, hands, and slow cooking of ur face, other then that nothing hard. lmao. I worked as a clayoven chef for five years, I could train gordon ramsay in ten mins to make ...
Nah it isnt, I would make better, you will look at them and feel like eating them, but this guy probally made the dow few hours ago and used it without remaking it on the spot. I normally make the dows, then remake the dow when i am about to use it, that way the extra air in it is pushed out, and nans are white in texture, and look beautiful. I will give this guys nans 7 out of ten in comparision to what i make.
You have to pic it from bottom before it catches fire, otherwise if it catches fire the temperture of the clayoven will go very high and nans will burn, and the black smoke will darken the clayoven wall, so the nans will be black from behind, and in a busy time, you have to quickly do what you need to keep the flow going, one person fucks up, entire kitchen suffers, so in desperation, you sort ur shit out quick or service is going to crash on your head.
I worked as a Tandoor Chef for six years, the pressure is phenominal, you stick six to seven nans in clay oven, roll out more, and take the others out, ... its hard, fast, hot, and its on place where the chef is really pissed off, you just going to get wacked if u fuck with the clay oven chef, Gordon Ramsay would get murdered by clayoven chef, you have to be a soilder to hack the heat, and pressure, and if someone mouths off, you just let him have it.
This is wonderful experience for him. He has learned how to cook in the western world and adapting other cultural foods into that world, but now he is learning the actual cuisine and what its like to really cook.
Everyone's talking about how humble gordon is to step out of his comfort zone. It's got fuck all to do with humility. As a chef you're just naturally curious about other cuisines. I do this all the time for fun. It's just an entertaining idea that the producers came up with.
You know the purpose of that is to put as much stress on the cooks as he can so they eventually dont let anything break them while hopefully working some day at their dream job, a job absolutely full of stress. Ppl finally become humble if someone breaks them enough, and the best way to build yourself to the top of your game is to hit rock bottom and find all your weak spots. He does this for them, not to them. Weak ppl will never grow from it. Smart ppl will. I felt like you did, then this hitme
@DigbyCat He got his own tv program because he knew it would sell to see him getting pissed at people and them not doing anything about it because he's the best chef. It is actually a very smart idea. He's rich now.
@DigbyCat This is indeed one of the most ridiculous comments I have ever seen. You seem to have serious issues with other people's success. Work on it.
You're obviously the one who had the bad upbringing as you keep trying to force it on people.
How can one presume this much about someones upbringing when this video is about a cooking show ? are you implying that all cooking enthusiasts had bad upbringings?
I think you have a problem with Gordons success, maybe you're an ex-employee and he gave you the sack, and now you're just bitter, who knows?
YOU are the root cause of this issue, if you would just keep your opinions to yourself you wouldn't get such bad feedback.
"Ramsay is an example of a self-opinionated delusional arsehole"
That applies to yourself aswel.
Whats funny is you've spent alot of your time writing comments on all of Gordon Ramseys videos, which means if he's an idiot you must be even more of one.
We don't like your stupid comments or your tin can of a personality, now do us a favour and go out, get laid, do something you enjoy because honestly this youtube thing just doesn't work for you.
Did you just tell me not to kerk off my needle disk? Failed at English you inbred mongoloid!
BTW that's a copy/past comment yet again, let's see you respond next time addressing me by name (aaronz) and with the answer to the question; What's one squared?
I sense a secret Ramsay admirer! Oh, you sneaky man, you, almost had me believe some sort of lifeless welfare-sucking parasite could really be bothered to comment on literally every Ramsay video out there instead of dusting off his withered, useless genitals!
Gordon is a god, you are an annoying, whiny morsel of scum.
You are wrong. Ramsay is a saint, donating hundreds of millions of dollars to charity each month and creating fantastic dishes all the while.
How dare you attempt to tarnish the name of this man whom in the minds of all the orphans he's saved sits beside the likes of Gandhi as a blessed humanitarian.
I hope you drown in molten lava you sack of repugnant excrement.
Imagine a silly cow so completely obsessed with a celebrity chef that she spends her life trawling through videos on Youtube putting pathetic contrived comments.
@DigbyCat i dont follow ramsay, nor do i get off on anything he does or says. he is a very talented chef, and me being in the industry for many years, working at top restaurants, i know how it works. and you dont. you have no clue how stressful an industry this is, especially at the highest level. unfortunately, youll most likely never reach the highest standard of anything, becuase you cant handle the pressure of someone yelling at you when shit gets crazy. did he yell at you or something?
@DigbyCat many top chefs are nasty, intimidating, discounting and impatient. emphasis on impatient. of course you would never know that, as your point of view comes from someone whos worked a 9-5 office job your entire life. when your cubicle mate said a bad word to you the other day, did you go to human resources? kitchens are tough pal, youll never know though.
Oh just shut the fuck up already you're out there spamming every Ramsay vid with the same bullshit
Its really getting old and annoying how persistent with your delusions you are, and no matter how many people tell you to shut up and/or present sensible arguments FOR Ramsay's behaviour you just don't listen and continue on with your crap
You have been posting the same two comments over and over again on all of his videos. If you hate them so much, just stop watching them. If you continue to watch them, then you are just another damn hypocrite.
DigbyCat is here too?!?!?! I said exactly the same thing you did. He/she is posting effusively on every Gordon Ramsay video. It's ironic DigbyCat calls Gordon a bully, because that user is actually a bully too.
all these words you're typing sure are making a difference. gordon is officially a nobody and he has been sent to jail. all this angry copying and pasting on youtube is a noble effort and you should be commended.
i watched this video again, does that anger you even more
copying and pasting this on every gordon ramsay video isnt going to change anyone's mind. congrats, you have an opinion. stop shoving it down everyone's throats.
However well these chefs would cook the tandoors (mud ovens) cook the best in open air next to the fields. I don't exactly know why but my guess is that the oxygen and other factors play a role in that perfect naans and seekh kebabs and chicken tikkas. Which I have never been able to do indoors.
My favorite part about ramsay is that as accomplished as he is, he still puts himself in spots where he will most likely fail, and he has to rise to meet the challenge...a great tip for us all to break out of our comfort zones
@tejo29se i agree, people hate on him cause they get so offended by his comments yet gordon, when he fails admits to failure and tries to learn from it rather than argue or get emotional.
He doesn't do that in his restaurants. It's only in the situations where he has to get people into shape extremely fast (like hell's kitchen or kitchen nightmares). Remember that in HK they win a restaurant. If you where to give that away, you would be harsh as fuck as well.
Gordon demands perfection in all his restaurants - if someone comes and tells him they can cook, then starts acting like a fool, what do you think hes going to do!
being in the culinary industry you will always be learning, his techniques are based around cooking things over a stove and in an oven and stuff like that. just like if ramsey was to try to teach that guy how to cook like him self the guy would be in the exact boat.
i love the way gordons hands are getting so hot when he tries to retrieve the naan he dropped, then the other guy just reaches in the 400 degree oven lol
Just shows that even the greats have to practice to get to were they are. Love Ramsey.

Tolerance to temperature, is singular to every individual, like the way we feel pain.
what is good is sthat a big name like Ramsay, is willing to test himself in learning other styles of cooking, that displays passion for what he does.

At least he is admitting failling - it takes a strong person to admit he is´wrong (or not good at it).
Gordon is admirable. Such a great guy.

Kudos to him.
iPidd 2 years ago
@tejo29se i agree, people hate on him cause they get so offended by his comments yet gordon, when he fails admits to failure and tries to learn from it rather than argue or get emotional.

He doesn't do that in his restaurants. It's only in the situations where he has to get people into shape extremely fast (like hell's kitchen or kitchen nightmares). Remember that in HK they win a restaurant. If you where to give that away, you would be harsh as fuck as well.

Wrote wrong, they get the head position at a restaurant.
reptilezsweden 2 years ago
No your completely wrong.
Gordon demands perfection in all his restaurants - if someone comes and tells him they can cook, then starts acting like a fool, what do you think hes going to do!

It's good to see Gordon has enough humility to have a show where he lets people see him learn and fuck up.

WOW.... it feels good to know that no matter how good you are there is always more to learn
^_^

Wow. Gordon being taught. This is weird.
evh5150316 2 years ago 4
being in the culinary industry you will always be learning, his techniques are based around cooking things over a stove and in an oven and stuff like that. just like if ramsey was to try to teach that guy how to cook like him self the guy would be in the exact boat.
