At the very end of his comment he says "Beat them at their own game"... thus the sentences prior to that were describing their own game! To which you redundantly replied "typical liberal" which as previously stated is wrong as he is saying these actions were created by Republicans.
@Jimmymac916 Right, because I meant it literally. I do love how consistently stupid conservatives are. It was pure gold when Beck went after Anita Dunn, not realizing the Mao quote came from Mr GOP, Lee Atwater. Good times.
@ Asymmatrix so Anita was joking??? yea, right... If you libs could catch up to consercvatives rational thought patterns our country would be unstoppable. Bad times a head for sure until Obama is shown the door.
@Jimmymac916 Anita was quoting a CONSERVATIVE STRATEGIST.... What part of that don't you understand? Lol@ 'rational' now I know you're a comedian. Any relation to Don Rickles?
you obviously don't understand how to infer a prior posed thought. of course i knew you were referring to a conservative. so answer me this, was Anita joking? she didn't refer to Atwater or give him credit for her Mao ramblings. can you keep up with me b/c i haven't found a liberal that can
I didn't see the original conversation you had with CraigMetalHead, but to judge one's intelligence by their user-name on here is an act of ignorance.
As for the republicans opposition against any type of public option, anyone paying attention to politics the last 50 years could of predicted this. I blame the democrats more, the only sensible bill they should of pushed was the single-payer system, but since being in power is more important to them then the American people it's no surprise.
i don't believe in the SPS as a sustainable healthcare solution. I would prefer that consumers were allowed to shop insurance companies across state lines. another sensible solution would call for free healthcare clinics specifically for those that cannot afford to purchase a basic policy. whatever is done it should cost less, reduce opportunity for corruption and not require a tax on people earning >250k/yr.
Allowing consumers to shop across state lines will only draw business to the Walmart-esque insurers who reject people with pre-existing conditions, who will then bargain for prices with hospitals, causing them to shift costs onto smaller and more humane insurers. Not a very good solution.
Free healthcare clinics also seem insufficient as it's unlikely they would be able to provide a wide spectrum of vital services.
A single-buyer solution would be the best, but it aint happening anytime soon.
SPS is nothing short of socialist medicine. if you believe it is the end all solution then at least admit you prefer a socialist type gov't. walmart-esque, maybe, maybe not. this idea deserves a try before we begin a spending program that will undoubtedly have cost overuns that could very well bankrupt the USA. SPS will NOT provide a wide spectrum of vital services. doctors will flee this system leaving a large gap that leads to long waiting periods (ie Canada).
Do you have any idea what ur talking about? Can you tell me specifically WHICH procedures require horrendous waiting periods in Canada? No really, can you tell me?
Also, the CBO said the public option would have been deficit neutral. There goes ur "cost overrun".
And Single Payer systems have nothing to do with the breadth of services provided. It's an INSURANCE PLAN, not a health services program.
@Jimmymac916 Are you kidding? Look at Europe. All the developed nations have educated and well people Ron Paul and other American Nazis just want to cripple the USA intellectually and economically to get power. They do not even like democracy they are a fraud. The system is rotten, it has forgotten to care for the people. Republicans of all shades did that. they, more inequality and corps are not the solution kick out the republican dems too. regards peace
There would be nothing wrong with socialized medicine if corruption in government wasn't so overwhelming. I'd still choose single-payer over our current private insurance company run system we have today, at least with single-payer everyone is covered and the people would have more power in making changes to that system than we would trying to change or control the more corrupt private system. The republicans solution is to do nothing the democrats is to do too little. Nobody is fleeing America.
Don't believe the hype. These "waiting periods" they try to scare you with are for minor things that are not time critical. And if you don't like waiting periods, most of these "socialised" countries still allow you to go private too. But for people who cannot afford private, waiting a few months to see a specialist is better than never seeing one because you are too poor.
Again I say : don't believe the hype. Its scare tactics.
Shopping across state lines only benefits the few minimally and is not a main solution. As for building free clinics and properly funding the current ones, I've heard nothing about this from either party. I hope you were as worried about things "costing less" when we went to war and continued to fund it year after year. As for taxes, the IRS needs to go, we need a fair tax system, not a flat one that the rich would love. Taxing a 30k earner the same as a 250k one is not what I would call fair.
They're going to oppose this bill... Hmm.. That'll actually work in the favor of few progressives that are willing to join a filibuster to shoot down a crappy bill at least.
Here is the funny thing to me: why is it not ironic that the biggest defenders of Medicare is all of a sudden the Republicans - the very party that has opposed Medicare and has wanted to get rid of it since its inception.
I wonder if the gullible senior citizens who think the Republicans are actually the good guys on this would be surprised if those very same Republicans got rid of Medicare if they had the chance and could get away with it.
This is why prime ministers pwn. He says, it basically happens.
Problem is for that system to be safe like it is in britain, you need an electorate which are very snobby about their leaders interlect and aptitude and have a zero tolerence for corruption.
As well as a way of picking members for the houses that is bullet proof against corperate whores and relgious nuts.
The faults of the American system gives me a renewed perspective on hereditary peerage and a strong central minister.
In all general measures of curruption Britain is one of the lowest in Europe.
Our prime minster does not have 21year old casual girlfriends.(Italy) our Primeminster does not oscillate between moderate and right wing fruit nuts (France)
All money is accounted for, even this expenses 'scandal' pales to what is standard in the US.
Nothing like the Gore/Bush election could occur. Lets put 'corruption' into perspective.
i am pretty sure thats what a campaign is. Sarah Palin failed that test, now she is unemployed. Howard Dean failed that test with his BEEAAHHH!!! and you see how it worked out. Campaigns are the test, we americans do the grading.
Campaigns are mostly popularity contest. It's about making yourself, as a politician, to look good, and counter the skeletons the other other campaign has brought out of your closet, or to bring skeletons out of closets. That, is one test where cheating is much too easy if you know how to.
i thought this country was broke... yet how do they continue to spend money we don't have on a war? it just doesn't make any sense... is collapsing a once great country the price that must be paid to get a few filthy rich people even richer? what will they do with all their billions when the entire global economy collapses and the US is such a shithole you wouldn't even want to spit in it? OH thats right!! they will all move to Israel and live happily ever after
I really wish that the Democrats would finally get it through their heads that no matter how much they try to compromise, the GOP will oppose it. I've given up on any hope of this being a bipartisan effort. Forget the GOP, ram it through.
In Canada when a political party has the majority, it is ran like a totalitarian regime for 4 years, and it is just fine. Compromising isnt even considered.
Of course the GOP will oppose healthcare reform no matter what. They don't want to displease their masters, the insurance companies, after all. The Republicans are willing to do anything and everything, no matter how much it hurts the American people, to defeat Barack Obama. They have no conscience.
People need to wake up and realize that it's business as usually in Washington. Conservatives/republicans and most democrats ani't shit. They ONLY represent big corporations and not the people. Until people have the balls to represent a socialist revolution, the average American life will always be shitty and then you die quick, because conservatives/republicans and most democrats don't give a fuck about the average American...
If Grayson had a chance to defeat Obama for the democratic nomination, I would definitely vote for Grayson. Unfortunately I think it's very unlikely any democrat can defeat Obama for the democratic nomination...:(
I don't really give a damn about the Dems anyway. I think this just proves my point that the US is long past due for a Progressive/Labor/Social Democrat party.
We're the only country in the industrialized world, aside from South Korea, without a mainstream Labor or Social Democrat party. South Korea's excuse is because their left-wing parties were liquidated during the Cold War by dictator Park Chung-hee (a lot of people don't realize S. Korea had a dictator).
Why are they trying to work together still? What is the damn point of compromises if they say they wont vote on it, its clear its not a fucking compromise they want.
If i had to pic this reform over bipartisanship across the board work together happy time, i pick reform.
Because if they act like they want bipartisanship, they can get what they really want, no reform, and then they can claim "well we tried to reason with the republicans, but they didn't listen!"
I agree with Cenk I just wish the media would call the right wing out on this. Media, they already think you're so fucking biased you can't see straight.
I mean what do we have to lose with these people anymore? And why do we let the biggest fuck ups in the country- the dumbest, least educated, craziest people call the shots, even when we took them out of power?
Just tell the children that the adults are making the decision for once. Stop spoiling them!
The Republican Party is dieing and they are scared so all they can do is scream and fight to the bitter end and hoping to take down the rest of the country with them... thats all they care about. They only have their best interests at heart.
What bothers me is that many of them have an "end of days" paradigm. I'm not worried about foreign terrorists, I'm worried about the few nutjobs in America that believe they are patriots.
Medicare-caid has tens of trillions in unfunded entitlements - just pile on the red ink, won't matter for long the dollar and our empire is dying soon.
Dammit why cant the democrats just tell every one out of their to fuck off. They have more than 51 votes for a public option, and they have a majority in both houses.Democrats are f*cking pussies.

I can't believe you morons would want a public option. It will destroy the insurance industry and make the playing field unfair. The entire bill is a farce just like the ones that wrote it!!!
fuck the republicans lieberman might make them come around but at least the dems like it and obama wanted something and obama was thinking single payer well this is a trigger for single payer so fuck the da kine republicans the ha bisky democrats will fight like hell for the change i bet

The GOP is going to be successful in derailing Healthcare reform and install Sarah Palin as President in 2012! The inevitable is going to happen and America is beginning to return to its conservative roots! It is GOD's WORD and WILL that the GOP will successfully kill healthcare reform and the public option and see to it that Palin rises to the White House.
Can you please read the Bible first before you say stupid shit like this. Please don't embarrass this country. You don't know any fucking better, idiot
That's the problem with liberals, man. They want to ignore these crazy ass people and think that they're playing around. These crazy conservatives want Obama DEAD. They don't want him to succeed, they don't want the President to bring forth any good policies, they want him to DIE, to not exist.
That's why Obama, first needs to step up with some balls, and confront these people, and then, we need to be there to support Obama, and really fuck up these crazy ass conservatives.
The conservatives will grow in exponential numbers and they will overtake this country and drive Liberals and Democrats to EXTINCTION! When Palin becomes POTUS, she will drive the nails into the coffin of Liberals, Socialists, Communists, Progressives and Democrats. America is was and forever will be a HARD RIGHT CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE NATION! Liberalism is a cancer eating this country alive that Palin will cure and completely get rid off!
"I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object! I Object!"
They'd oppose Jesus too, if suddenly discovering he were black. The majority of Republicans are Christian fundamentalist also, ya'd think they'd be 100% behind these efforts. At least minimally supporting this apparent compromise. It's religion that's got them all screwed up! They're intent on dooming us all. I've said for years, they're a Dooms day cult. No different than Radical Islam, Jim Jones or David Koresh. I believe in God, but the emotionalism connected to religion makes men stupid.
Sigh. Not surprising. And it only took 39 seconds to discuss. Republicans like this need to be hit over the head with something and dragged out of government.
Wow... the republicans were against the public health care. And now the public health care is out of the loop already and they still oppose it? What do they agree upon? What the point of bipartisanship? Come on...
ok I got it... here is what the democrat should do: Pass VERY obvious bill (no package) and if any republican opposes it, use that fact in 2012. So if they oppose banning rape in a public place, destroy them when come the next election... destroy as in they will never come back.
I imagine the majority of Americans, 50+%, want a single-payer system rather than this watered down public option, and more would want it if they knew anything about real economics. The fact the republicans won't even give the American people the democrats compromised version of this bill says only one thing, they actually believe their party is going to survive the 2010 and 2012 elections. That sound I heard today coming from DC was one thing, the very last nail in the republican party coffin.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Nope, you are so wrong. We will see the nail to the Democratic Party coffin come 2010 and 2012 when Sarah Palin PWNS Obambi and becomes America's GREATEST POTUS of ALL TIMES! By 2021, the Democrats will be EXTINCT and Liberalism and Progressivism will die a painful and agonizing death!
You're an incompetent, disgraceful idiot who does nothing but support a person who doesn't know basic geography, nor does she know basic political structure. And, one more thing, SHE'S A DAMN QUITTER! You are a absolute ignorant person who does not understand that if you support Palin, she will screw up this country, because of her lack of knowledge and intellect. You know what? GO THE FUCK AHEAD, YOU CRAZY SON OF A BITCH. You're nuts, and you don't fucking get it at all! She's too scary for me!
She left Alaska to pursuer her higher calling which is the White House and she is raising money to win the presidency in 2012. She will surpass Obambi's fundraising records and buy her way to the White House. She will get all the major endorsements and they will help install her becoming America's greatest leader.
I hope she does, the amount of ridicule and humor we could derive from her campaign will be nothing short of epic, and of course she will get the lowest turnout in history and noone in their right mind would actually vote for her.
This is just sad. No matter what happens, Republicans won't do a damn thing or agree on something that helps the people. I suggest just voting the bill with the public option and ignore every last Republican who opposes the idea. Screw them all.
if you need healthcare and can't afford it and don't want to wait till you need emergency treatment then just die. You are a leech on society and do not have enough money to keep playing. Game Over. Ever had emergency room treatment. You wait four or more 10 15 hours to be told that you need to see a doctor by a doctor. Then you get charged a price no one can afford for that.
Republicans think that spending money on invading other nations is justified, yet reforming health care isn't. I mean god forbid, it's something that (unlike wars) actually help the American people!
Tiger Woods loves pussy!! If he wanted to be a porn star he would not even need to change his name. Tiger Woods and his wood 2012!!!! The pussy lovers party!!!
Tiger Woods is Sarah Palin's DICKLESS and BALLESS BITCH and PUSSY! Palin has SUPERIOR morals and integrity than Tiger and will UNLEASH THE WRATH OF GOD HERSELF onto him, EXPOSING HIS PUSSY for the WHOLE WORLD TO SEE, revealing all the dirty details with all of his affairs and DESTROY his legacy and career as a golf player! Female golf players are SUPERIOR to this mulatto!
We knew that the GOP would fight ANY kind of reform tooth and nail- That fat fuck Rush Limbaugh stated the party's de facto position a year ago when he said he hoped Obama would fail- and as Gomer Pyle would say, "Surprise, surprise, surprise!!!", they have dug deep into their bag of dirty tricks to achieve that objective.
It's bad enough that Obama has backpedaled on just about every campaign pledge he made, they want to kill him politically, through fearmongering, innuendo and outright lies-
They would fight ANYTHING as long as the Democrats put it forward. They have abandoned any principles, and are now simply out to hurt the opposition in any way possible.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Rush Limbaugh is succeeding in making Obambi a 1 term EPIC FAIL and will help install Sarah Palin as America's NEXT and GREATEST POTUS of ALL TIMES! She is TRULY GOD's CHOSEN ONE, GOD INCARNATE and the LIVING EMBODIMENT OF GOD HERSELF! She is the REAL SAVIOR and MESSIAH of the world and will bring REAL CHANGE to DC! Her 8 years will be America's GREATEST and MOST GLORIOUS and PROSPEROUS!
I'm not sure if you're posting these comments because you actually believe them, or if you're just a troll who gets their jollies from fucking with people, but the sad truth is that Sarah Palin is a QUITTER, who couldn't stand the media scrutiny when she was McCain's running mate, then decided earlier this year that it was easier to make money by cashing in on her "celebrity status", and quit her elected office 2 YEARS EARLY to cash in.
Palin is NOT a quitter. She left Alaska to pursue her higher calling which is obtaining the presidency and she is raising funds necessary to become President. She WILL surpass Obambi's fundraising records and she will BUY her way into the White House as she gets all major endorsements from all major corporations including Goldwoman-Sachs. Big $ will DITCH Obambi and his EPIC FAILURE and go for Sarah Palin, the GREATEST POTUS of ALL TIMES GOD's CHOSEN ONE and the REAL MESSIAH and SAVIOR!
its all about the money, power and control thats why the government made up the parties, divide and conquer. keep us arguing amongst our selves and keep us distracted from what their doing. they dont care about us,and oh ya its also about what party wins and what party loses. WE THE PEOPLE MY ASS!!!.................
Palin is raising the money necessary to become America's president. She will get the major endorsements who will help install her to the White house for 8 great and glorious years. She will surpass Obambi's fundraising records.
You can not work with Republicans on anything, you give a inch they take a inch, you give a mile they take a mile. They never give anything back in return.
The USA is not a Democracy. If we were these assholes would have to listen to what the public wants. The majority of polls show Americans what a public option. Guess we have to have our own lobbyists to bribe them.
Why are ppl so mad? The compromise seems like it can work out well, especially since they're extending medicare to 55. Then you have the same group that does "employee health care" doing the new "public option". What's the big deal? This is a great first step in the right direction. Next time around, medicare until 45, then 35, then 25, then everyone. Bam.
well yea you could wait for that but what about the people around 18 to 30 who one day find out they have cancer. and they can't pay for insurence and one day die. what about those people its good that they drop medicare to 55 but we young people want good health care too. they just doing that cuz they know that the young aren't going to vote.. they just want to win the older voters. its too late to someone who i went to hight school with who died of cancer.. and he was the same age as me... 23

@ Asymmatrix so Anita was joking??? yea, right... If you libs could catch up to consercvatives rational thought patterns our country would be unstoppable. Bad times a head for sure until Obama is shown the door.
Jimmymac916 2 years ago
@Jimmymac916 Anita was quoting a CONSERVATIVE STRATEGIST.... What part of that don't you understand? Lol@ 'rational' now I know you're a comedian. Any relation to Don Rickles?
Asymmatrix 2 years ago
you obviously don't understand how to infer a prior posed thought. of course i knew you were referring to a conservative. so answer me this, was Anita joking? she didn't refer to Atwater or give him credit for her Mao ramblings. can you keep up with me b/c i haven't found a liberal that can

@Jimmymac916 LOL she used the quote as it was originally meant. Are you brain damaged?

CraigMetalHead 2 years ago 2
I didn't see the original conversation you had with CraigMetalHead, but to judge one's intelligence by their user-name on here is an act of ignorance.
As for the republicans opposition against any type of public option, anyone paying attention to politics the last 50 years could of predicted this. I blame the democrats more, the only sensible bill they should of pushed was the single-payer system, but since being in power is more important to them then the American people it's no surprise.
TheUSMetalhead 2 years ago
i don't believe in the SPS as a sustainable healthcare solution.
Jimmymac916 2 years ago
Allowing consumers to shop across state lines will only draw business to the Walmart-esque insurers who reject people with pre-existing conditions, who will then bargain for prices with hospitals, causing them to shift costs onto smaller and more humane insurers. Not a very good solution.
Free healthcare clinics also seem insufficient as it's unlikely they would be able to provide a wide spectrum of vital services.
A single-buyer solution would be the best, but it aint happening anytime soon.
wtfdoihavetodohere 2 years ago
SPS is nothing short of socialist medicine. if you believe it is the end all solution then at least admit you prefer a socialist type gov't. walmart-esque, maybe, maybe not. this idea deserves a try before we begin a spending program that will undoubtedly have cost overuns that could very well bankrupt the USA. SPS will NOT provide a wide spectrum of vital services. doctors will flee this system leaving a large gap that leads to long waiting periods (ie Canada).
Jimmymac916 2 years ago
Do you have any idea what ur talking about? Can you tell me specifically WHICH procedures require horrendous waiting periods in Canada? No really, can you tell me?
Also, the CBO said the public option would have been deficit neutral. There goes ur "cost overrun".
And Single Payer systems have nothing to do with the breadth of services provided. It's an INSURANCE PLAN, not a health services program.
wtfdoihavetodohere 2 years ago
marsCubed 2 years ago 2
There would be nothing wrong with socialized medicine if corruption in government wasn't so overwhelming. I'd still choose single-payer over our current private insurance company run system we have today, at least with single-payer everyone is covered and the people would have more power in making changes to that system than we would trying to change or control the more corrupt private system. The republicans solution is to do nothing the democrats is to do too little. Nobody is fleeing America.
TheUSMetalhead 2 years ago
Don't believe the hype. These "waiting periods" they try to scare you with are for minor things that are not time critical. And if you don't like waiting periods, most of these "socialised" countries still allow you to go private too. But for people who cannot afford private, waiting a few months to see a specialist is better than never seeing one because you are too poor.
Again I say : don't believe the hype. Its scare tactics.
morganbath 2 years ago 3
Shopping across state lines only benefits the few minimally and is not a main solution. As for building free clinics and properly funding the current ones, I've heard nothing about this from either party. I hope you were as worried about things "costing less" when we went to war and continued to fund it year after year. As for taxes, the IRS needs to go, we need a fair tax system, not a flat one that the rich would love. Taxing a 30k earner the same as a 250k one is not what I would call fair.

I wonder if the gullible senior citizens who think the Republicans are actually the good guys on this would be surprised if those very same Republicans got rid of Medicare if they had the chance and could get away with it.

Problem is for that system to be safe like it is in britain, you need an electorate which are very snobby about their leaders interlect and aptitude and have a zero tolerence for corruption.

ok I got it... here is what the democrat should do: Pass VERY obvious bill (no package) and if any republican opposes it, use that fact in 2012.
