Absolutely right, everyone will have a choice either to serve the devil or hopefully the Lord Jesus Christ who is returning soon. Unbelief and sitting on the fence is still not serving the Lord.
I was at this show & hanging backstage in the MGs dressing room- the thrill of my life.
Booker does this song far better than DYLAN. (Sorry, Bob) Keltner performed at the show with various other artist but that is of course ANTON FIG here who drummed all their NYC gigs around that period and in fact persuaded them to tour after they'd been off the road awhile
@Jitpring ? Not sure what you are responding to and the meaning of your response. I only mentioned that Mark Knopfler played on Dylan's Christian lp's and that was 4 months ago. What is Shot of Love?
@cooltooth112 Shot of Love is the third of the trilogy of Dylan's explicitly Christian albums. I wonder if MK played on this as well. I shall investigate.
@cooltooth112 "Shot Of Love" is a Dylan album during his Born Again period. The song "Every Grain Of Sand"is on it.. May be my favorite Dylan song of all time, but then again that changes from month to month
Bob I couldn't find Bob Dylan's version. Yesterday I caught a good TV Church session (I want to say Mass) on this fact" We serve". Who, what where and why.... only each person knows. They had a question on this. I would LOVE to ask you in person, I think its heavy man. You'll dig it. FAROUT Steve. I am but its okay. We are all important. I am growing each day now. Yep . Catch ya later Brother
@imournhim Mojo Magazine voted STEVE CROPPER the greatest living guitar player (2nd all time behind Hendrix). He co-wrote and played on "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay" with Otis Redding, "Knock on Wood" with Eddie Floyd, "In the Midnight Hour" with Wilson Pickett, and was in The Blues Brothers with MGs' bassist Duck Dunn.
I think, Booker T. Jones and the M'GS signed a song : JAMIACA IN THE MORNING? Or am'I wrong? I can't find this song! Please, if you have an answser, tell me: is it yes or is it no?
@MegaBenbrahim: You are right. The song is called Jamaica This Morning. It's on an album called The MG's. Booker T and Steve Cropper are not on the album but they do play on that particular song. I know this because I personally asked Steve Cropper and he confirmed it. It's a magnificent album and the two guys that replaced Booker and Steve did a great job. I'd post it for you but I don't know how. I'm computer illiterate.
I knew Cropper and Duck Dunn were at this show but I thought Booker T. had gotten food poisoning and Paul Schaefer had to sub for him. Never seen this footage and I watched the show on Pay-perview back in 92 or 93.
@DasGoldenBoy: Booker T got food poisoning the night before the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary concert in 1988. He was supposed to be the musical director for the entire evening and he spent months rehearsing for it. Paul Schaefer had twenty four hours to learn the show and it's a testament to how talented Paul is that he could pull it off the way he did. The show did suffer as a result of Booker not being there because alot of the acts couldn't do the songs they rehearsed.
@tomthefunky Paul Schaefer is highly under-rated, most people only know him from Letterman. I didn't know that some of the acts had to alter set lists. The Sinead O'Connor incident was the onlly oddity that I remember from that show.
@DasGoldenBoy: The Sinead O'Connor incident happened during this show, the Dylan tribute. I remember listening to it live on the radio here in NYC. The boos were deafening and I personally was over the moon with joy. Boy, did she misjudge that audience. It was a crowd of people sick of being hit over the head with politics at rock concerts. A few days later she was pelted with eggs by Puerto Ricans in the East Village.
Do you folks wanna know why Booker T and the MG's are the greatest band ever? I'll tell you. They rehearsed eighty songs for this gig. They can adapt to any whim the superstar singer chooses and within seconds.
@tomthefunky that must be normal in Memphis. You never know what the next song is around here until the front man starts it out. Play enough with them and there are no surprises, but every once in a while they will do something you haven't played in a few years and they catch ya slipping!!
I strongly recommend their boxed set. They put this on there along with their version of Lay Lady Lay, also recorded at this show. I have been a superfan of this band for almost twenty years and I'm still finding stuff they did that I never heard before. Thanks for the post.
Heard this on booker t's interview with Paul Jones on radio 2. How can it get much better? Great song, great band and man can he sing! No mention or shots of Duck, for it is he, turning goat's piss into rocket fuel.
Still doing what they do best. That old funky groove keeps at you until it gets your feet moving, your hands clapping and next thing you know your hooked, great song by a great band, proving great musicians playing great stuff will last forever.
I was at this show and was pissed that this was not on the CD. Great Song Great version

Booker T Jones was queer for Rick James for many years. In fact Rick James claimed he named the song "Super Freak" after Booker T.

It may have been stated somewhere else, but Mark Knopfler played guitar on all songs on Dylan's both Christian albums, Slow Train Coming and Saved.
