with all respect to the actor, i think it is unfair to put Tibet and Taiwan on the same plate. Because Tibet was an independent country with its own language, unique geography, religion and way of life, Taiwan is an island formed by Chinese speaking people from mainland china who in disagreement with the communist party coming in power formed their own government and sovereignty. So to put Tibet and Taiwan in a one plate is like offering a live octopus to a vegetarian person.
From the point of view of a Chinese person, they're thinking about their land as being absolutely dependent, if only based on their population etc, on areas of unreset they are able to control. You only need to look at a map of China to get the gist of contested provinces. I understand Tibetans would be offended by comparisons, but the way they will ALWAYS look at it in my personal opinion, is that if you relinquish Tibet, there goes Taiwan, maybe Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, etc.

HH Dalai Lama wanted " ONE CHINA " with Greater Autonomy for Tibet as China promised, NOT "FREE TIBET" as the West claimed/wanted. The problem now is China needs to keep its promise to grant Tibet the autonomy it deserved as promised in previous imperial history. The Dalai Lama said that he wouldn't mind if he never got to rule again, as long as the oppression stops. with all respect to the actor, i think it is unfair to put Tibet and Taiwan on the same plate. Because Tibet was an independent country with its own language, unique geography, religion and way of life, Taiwan is an island formed by Chinese speaking people from mainland china who in disagreement with the communist party coming in power formed their own government and sovereignty. So to put Tibet and Taiwan in a one plate is like offering a live octopus to a vegetarian person.

You only need to look at a map of China to get the gist of contested provinces. HH Dalai Lama wanted " ONE CHINA " with Greater Autonomy for Tibet as China promised, NOT "FREE TIBET" as the West claimed/wanted. The problem now is China needs to keep its promise to grant Tibet the autonomy it deserved as promised in previous imperial history. This is *historically legitimate* as previously set out in the Chinese suzerainty system: Tibet is part of China with autonomy, signed by Dalai Lama & Qing Emperor.

I don't think Jet Li is turning down Tibetans at all. He is just saying that it would be a good idea if Tibet was unified with China. The Dalai Lama said that he wouldn't mind if he never got to rule again, as long as the oppression stops. Jet Li never said he agrees with the way China is ruling, he just thinks that it would be a good idea if everyone lived together in harmony.

that's true, ur right, my grandfather and grandmother died of starvation when my dad was 8-13, cant remember, and my dad also lost a brother when he was 3 through starvation and that's why my dad doesn't like the chinese communists. If you just compare western society to china, it's completely different. When people are disadvantaged in western society, the government does what it can do help.
