Not the same band. i used to really freak out over Re Styles. This was the Tubes "paradise by the dashboard light". So San Francisco, best from like 1976- 1985
Saw them in concert way back in the day. Was blown away!! Every song was put on like a Broadway production. Many set and costume changes. Saw a LOT of great bands in the 70s. The Tubes put on the Best show I've ever seen to this day. How I wish I could find some decent video on this song.
When the bass player is counting the beats for the other musicians you know they're in trouble. Considering this was known for it's copy of the 'wall of sound' this live version is appalling
I'm sorry to tell you haven't a clue about what's going on. They teach fuckin music at music school. Thay are icons and and major artists. This is not your scene.
i can only assume you sent that comment to me by mistake if not you obviously didnt understand my comment i said it was a great song if you think this version is anywhere near the original I pity you have ya ears tested
In part I misunderstood your comment, cause I'm no English speaker. But are they really that bad? She's on playback, I guess. Anyway, we agree they are GREAT! :) Cheers, "Bruce" :)
Kind of sad to see their voices went the same way as their sets from the 70's. This was pathetic- I hope they have a reason like strep throat to explain this horrendous version of a pretty cool/ catchy song.
It's probably Re Styles. Loses a lot in live performance. It's really a send-up of/tribute to Phil Spector and his famous studio technique, and was suitably elaborate. The singer on "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" was Ellen Foley, who was probably best known as the original public defender on "Night Court". The woman in the video for the song was Karla DeVito lip-syncing to Foley's vocal. Foley was a model, why wasn't she in the video? Oh well. Check out her solo albums..they're excellent.
So ahead of their time
