@sreejx Each DVD has a code sticker....so the machine will know if the case is empty...and they will trace back that dvd number to the last time it was rented, and traced to the renter who used his debit/credit...and if not returned they will keep on charging the dollar for every late fee i guess...or they can call the police...after all it is stealing.... just electronically.

Inside the machine there is a five or six tier carousel that holds up to about 575 DVD's. And there is a picker that gets the DVD's. The machine knows where the movies are by what slot they're in within the carousel. I've seen the inside of a RedBox Kiosk .

Does anyone know if this redbox takes a deposit out of you account when you first use it? or whatever , Because I would be using a check card and my bank charges a $35 overdraft fee. I guess it would work with a check card on the credit side. wouldn't it?

When you rent a DVD, it will put a hold on you account for $1 for each day you have the movie. On the day you return the DVD, it will charge your card accordingly. And yes, it would work just like a debit/credit sale.

1 + 24 = $25 to keep a redbox dvd

I don't seem to rent videos anymore but I am glad to know that Block Buster is hurting!!! I hated them for putting all the "little guys" out of business so it is great to know someone is putting them out of business!! Yay!!!! The Red Boxes are cool! Do they have most "new" releases in them??

You have to use a debit/credit card... It'll charge you $1 per day. After 9pm, it will charge an additional dollar. If you keep the movie more than 25 days, they will stop charging you and consider the DVD yours to keep. :)
