The Squid and the Whale was extremely depressing, especially if you are a parent. Hard to watch. Margot at the Wedding was worse. That being said, Kicking and Screaming and Mr. Jealousy were fantastic films that I will stop and watch every time they are on. For a short time there, Eric Stoltz was your go to guy for the romantic lead...he's great in both of those films. So obviously Noah has it in him....and I'm looking forward to Greenburg....and yes, I'm jealous of his success.

I'm the exact opposite. I thought Kicking and Screaming and Mr. Jealousy were absolute garbage, and 'The Squid and the Whale' was inspired entertainment. 'Margot at the Wedding' is somewhere in between. I like all the parts with the kids, but none of the adult actors came close to matching the brilliance of Jeff Daniels and Laura Linney.

'Greenberg' was an even bigger disappointment. I pretty much back to square one with Baumbach, after such expectations raised after 'Squid'.
