  • Gould was a hard player to play with, because he liked to dominate the sound. You had to play perfectly to keep up.

  • I need to go change my pants

  • @tjpark0420 what happened dude

  • I used to watch Shumsky record at Purchase College in New York State, USA and always admired his bow arm. It was like butter. Gould performed with some great players but I always thought he was better as a soloist, as such an individualist.

  • hahaha!! Piero Rattalino did the introduction. He still looks the same. Btw Gould is so incredible, what an idol!

  • Listen Jascha Heifetz versión.Nothing to see.

  • @bortkievitch what do you mean? i prefer this one

  • Great sound! He had a Stradivari (1719) . . .

  • what an interesting recording!

  • Also teacher of the great Ida Bieler, expatriate now living in Germany. Shumsky=great violinist AND teacher.

  • Shumsky was the two Emerson violinists' teacher. She was suchhhhh a great violinist... What sweet sound.

  • No wonder Eugene Drucker has such a gorgeous sound!

  • Conoscevo e ovviamente avevo ascoltato il grande Gould, invece Shumsky lo conoscevo solo di nome:scuola perfetta, grande violinista e grande musicalità in questa bella sonata di R. Strauss. Grazie per questo video.

  • What a great violinist. Notice the high left thumb position like Perlman. Thanks for the post!
