@runtor1988 Not at all. I had to think about it myself as the vid is now over two years old and I've moved on a bit since then. You'll find all info at 6:09. Cheers, BK.
@Burgerman666 There's a huge difference in tone with the buffer on, where you plugged into any low impedance device?
My EH Deluxe Memory Man sucks lots of highs and it's supposed the be due to it's low impedance input, but some buffers I've tryed don't help (Eventide boxes and EH LP2tube). The one in this echo seems very effective.
@theShowStopper321 Instead of mouthing off, you might want to show us all your talents by making just one video. Then, after you've made 50 or 60 that are regarded as acceptable or better, the pedal builders might take some notice of you. I for one look forward to that first video.
@Burgerman666 Its a joke, Bud. No need to get defensive. I ask u questions about the stuff all the time, its sarcasm, but I guess like text messages its hard to tell when someone's kidding thru words only.
I really like the sound of this pedal, but I'm after something with a good tap tempo.
As I usually need to sync in with other players on the fly.
I've been looking at the TC Electronic Nova delay, which has not only tap tempo, but tempo set by the first few strikes on the guitar, which I think is excellent.
@SONGSTICKS Hey there. No, I haven't tried the TC stuff. I offered to demo it for them but they tersely declined. Too bad. If I need a tap-tempo I go for the Tech 21 Boost D.L.A. It doesn't sound quite as nice as the Echobox (few do) but it does modulation, tap, triplets and tails so it's inexpensive and useful.
@santoaxe I haven't tried the Lunar although DMB did say they were going to send me a demo unit so that's something to look forward to.. I hope!
The Faux Tape Echo does a great job of the random wow/flutter that comes from worn out tape machines. For mine though, the Echobox is still the most gorgeous sounding of the lot. I only defer to a D.L.A. every now and then because I require tap with the band.
Im stuck between This (Echobox) and a Tech 21 Boost DLA(TT) I plan on running it at the end of my board & was curious if the buffer in the Echobox was beter than the Tech 21?
@PGS412 Ooh. Tough one. Both have great buffers. I go for this one if I don't need tap tempo and the D.L.A. if I do. It's a tough choice because they're both great. If, however, the modulation is the deciding factor, then the Subdecay wins hands down. Depends what you need, I guess.
@triviani1234 I reckon this one will stand the test of time for a long time. Whenever I can get by without a tap function, the Echobox is first call. Skreddy? Believe it or not, I have yet to try any Skreddy pedal! Those delights await me..
I just got one from Subdecay for $139 because somebody sent it back and scuffed up the side. I REALLY like whoever did that haha. I've been saving out of three checks to buy one and I just about fell out of my chair when I saw this one on ebay haha.
hi bret, great review i think its a great alternative to the expensive skreddy echo that i want. i cant understand if its true bypass or not ? its seem some kind of digital right?
i read it got an internat trimpot that you can set the scaling of the repeat knob.
do you think it siund muddy with distortion like the guy who tolds that? i need a review with distortion
i own one and i think the same too :P but for some reason yours sounds different :P like more full if u know what i mean, maybe cuz im playing through a kinda cheap amp
Front of the amp. The Echobox isn't great in an effects loop. Its best application is after all your other pedals, and then into the clean channel of your amp.
Sure. Go for about 440ms with some slow modulation, develop an Irish accent, use a good old Strat, a Voc AC and find a lead singer with a penchant for world politics and you'll be set to go. :)
You are right about the Echobox not being too great through a dirty amp. I have an old '76 Marshall 100W Superlead head which I run through a power break with the amp cranked for some breakup (vol about 7). Rolling back on the guitar for cleaner tomes but the Echobox sounds really muddy whatever I do. Then when I boost up for lead it 's way OTT. How many Redmond's have you got man !. I had a model 2 but didn't like the humbuckers as I'm a Strat guy really so I'll stick to my Sambora !
Thanks! The feeling's mutual. The way you got around that Guardian Boss in Q4. Man, I need to spend some more time on that stuff and get away from the pedals for a while. Nice one!
The modulation section almost sounds like the Korg SDD-2000 or 3000, love it man, I might have to pick one these up so I dont Have to lug the ol korg around to gigs.
Would you mind me asking what your recording setup is for this? The audio part, of course.

Is this supposed to be like tape echo?

@theShowStopper321 Trails or no trails. Full manual on Subdecay's site. Link in the 'info' section of this video. Cheers.

@Burgerman666 Does that switch in the middle "color" the tone or add more bite?
theShowStopper321 9 months ago
@theShowStopper321 It brings in a buffer to help with the trails so if anything it's restoring the tone that was may have been lost in the cable.

@Burgerman666 Why don't u recommend using the loop, it was made for delays and reverbs when using the amp's distortion. Where can u get these?
theShowStopper321 1 year ago
@theShowStopper321 This pedal was primarily designed to be used in the amp's front end - not the loop.

Hey Burgerman,
I just received my Triple Wreck today. Love it, thanks to you and your demos. Do you still think this is the best delay pedal out there today? Thanks

@santoaxe One of the best sounding, definitely. I always love using it as with most Subdecay gear. Cheers, BK.

I see the Echobox has spillover. Can I set the repeats high and swell in a chord to create a long pad to solo over top? Thanks
electricfiddle1313 1 year ago
@electricfiddle1313 Sure. Just use your guitar's volume knob to do the swell.

how do you like this compared to the Wampler Faux Tape Echo?

@brettmoor If I had to choose I'd choose this one. It's warmer, softer and the modulation is beautiful. Brian Marshall is a very clever man.

I'm gonna sell my DL4!!!

+ 1 for the U2 stuff, it can do it, no doubt, but you'll need to open an account in Amsterdam ;)

You have a switch on top...Natural Decay on/off.
If this is on, the delay will fade out after you have turned off the delay. This is not true bypass.
Should you however switch the Natural Decay off, the delay will come to a sudden stop once you turn it off... then you also will have a true bypass.
