and reopen a terminal again, now this time it should be your transparent terminal that's opened now since you set it as your default terminal. close everything else you have running go to system>preferences>startup applications and click options and then click on "remember currently running applications"
OK for all you guys who have the problem with your terminal always showing back up on the top left side do this, it fixed mines.
Don't do the last step in this video by adding it in startup applications instead open up a regular terminal not your 2nd terminal which is the transparent one.
go to profiles and edit your transparent terminal and make it so that when you open up terminal it's your default terminal. Now close up your regular terminal and any other terminals that you have opened
does anyone know how to fix the terminal always showing up on the top left? seems like it ignores the 'place windows' option in compiz and always shows up on the top left instead of the area i set it to.
hi man, nice tutorial! just one question? when logging out/in, terminal doesn't show on original place and i have to run terminal again to get it fixed. any tip? thanks

Great tutorial! I have the same problem as CristyS89: it seems that Compiz ignores the "Place Windows" Plugin and just places the terminal in the top left corner of my desktop (which, incidentally, covers my icons and makes them unclickable). Funny thing: if I right-click the terminal and choose "Open Terminal" it opens a new instance of the BG-terminal in the correct position. And to close the first one, I simply right-click on it and choose "Close window": but wasn't it "non closable"? :-/
Hey! Thanks a lot for the Tutorial, helped a bunch!
One thing though, mine sometimes appears on the left side and sometimes part of it gets hidden by the upper bar, do you know how to make it start up on the right side in a better position? I'm using a widescreen also
or apt-get install compiz

Hi, that's a great tutorial! Thanks! Just one question -- this shows up on every workspace. Can I make show on Workspace 1 only? Thanks!
