  • The Morning Dew from 1973 Nov 17 Pauley Pavilion is the best I've heard. The transition from PITB -> UJB -> MD -> UJB -> PITB is masterful music.

  • Thanks Jerry we miss you man.

  • And then he sings I guess it doesn't matter....anyway

  • I like how at 1:07 or so Phil his a sour note on bass and Jerry just gives him a quick little look

  • lol Didn't hear any sour notes from Phil.

  • wolf dew!

  • awesome version

  • don't forget about the epic cornell dew!!

  • the best version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I miss you Jerry! Thanks for the post beautiful!

  • Great Dew . . . my favorite (by far) Dick's Picks 3 from 1977 in Florida, I believe. LONG LIVE THE DEAD!!!!

  • was this from the movie?

  • yes

  • the dew from alexandria palace, in merry ol england is spectacular as well...its on dicks picks vol 7

  • 3 / 95 was a good Dew atlanta ga

  • 9.18.87 ain't too shabby either and it is here on utube

  • thanks for the 11-2-85 show, def have to check it out. IMO there is no ultimate dew, they all make me feel crazy in their own way. 5-8-77 is NUTS tho. o and boy i wish i could see a video of it too!

  • Tough to choose but I like the May 8, 1977 version at Barton Hall more (wish I could watch a video of that !)

  • I agree, that dew imo, is the pinnacle of all dew's. I too wish there were video of that show, especially the scarlet>fire portion.

  • For an addition to all-time Dew's, check out 11-02-85, out of Space. Staggering...

  • I was there. Had to sell my tickets cause I was broke. Watched from a great angle thru a crack in the side doors of Barton Hall.

  • May 26, 1972. It's on the copy of Europe '72.

I cried first time I heard that, It felt like I was going through a Spiritual Revolution.

  • i always thought bob weir looked kinda like Kelso from That 70s Show. Who agrees with me.???????

  • ive heard other people say that but i dont think so.

  • you can see him around 5:58

  • It's probably Ned Lagins.

  • i don't mean to sound stupid but who is Ned Lagins?

  • Oooops, sorry I meant Ned Lagin. It's definately him, no question. If you still have a question just google it.

  • he wrote a letter to the band about the bridging of music and science and stuff,

he was a student at mit at the time.

he later became friends with phil lesh and made and album of electronic music called seastones with him

  • whose playing key boards next to Jerry, it doesn't look like Keith because I think he's on the other side of the stage.

  • I see Mickey Hart but no keyboard dude.

  • No Mickey Hart here, pianos is Keith Godchaux and keyboards is Ned Lagin, drummer is Bill Kreutzman

  • Nice to see positivity going around here...hard to find that on youtube, and the internet in general.

With every passing year I find myself loving this band more and more. I never tire of it.

  • This version is to played at my funeral - NO other piece of music has ever stirred my soul as much and as consistently as 10-18-74 Morning Dew... over 20 + years now.

    It simply never fails

Jerry & the Dead relaxed, in the zone (LOVE the bass bombs Phil!) & at the top of their game.... playing a song of heartache, hope, & acceptance of life.

The dynamic flow & emotional connectedness is sublime.

I challenge anyone to find & refer to me a better oiece of music by anyone

  • i know how you feel man, the grateful dead is my favorite band in the whole world! and that will never change, i want them to play a grateful dead song at my funeral too, but i don't know which one, but i'm only 15 so i have a long way to go with my life...:)

  • Hey, I'm 47 & have a very long strange trip ahead of me still!!!!!!!

    Never grow up

    Just grow

  • yeah man, thanks

  • Idk, I kinda like the Dick's Picks 14 version. Still, anything the Dead played was magical.

  • which disc? 1 or 4

  • Sry, it was disk 1.

  • you should have mother played by john lennon what about that.

  • oh, to be at the fabled Oct. '74 Winterland shows! this song closes the 2nd set, which consisted of just 3 songs ( Phil& Ned->DARK STAR->Dew ) but lasted 1 hr & 15 mins. :)))

  • Was there, and knew then that hearing this piece would be a memory to last a lifetime.

  • awesome morning dew...;-)

  • I GUESS IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYWAY!

I think this is my favorite Dead song next to Terrapin. Though they didn't actually write Morning Dew, still...

Jerry sounds a lot different when he's just talking. o_O

  • Love you Jerry!

  • sweet

  • lovely...Happy New Year!

  • Purely Awesome!
