  • Hitchen's logic is on the mark. Thanks for posting this.

  • "humilates"? You think this is a fight to know who's the better? Wake up! This is just a discussion trying to fix a fact as truth. The search for the truth.

  • the bible is fiction and god is a joke

  • @sirExtraordinary Wanna know the biggest invention of the humanity? I tell you: god.

  • @healdogtoe2c Gods love isn't denied to anyone, regardless of faith.

  • Hitler was a father of the german people and sacrificed himself for his people too

  • So god is like a father to his children.

    Knowing, they will suffer.

Giving them freedom and having to accept (?) that they will misuse it.

Knowing, the good will out weigh the evil.

That exercise being what? How the rats gets through the maze?

Human fathers have to endure the pain that their children go through. Can't deflect the "evil" that over takes them now and then.

Given the power to do so, NO FATHER would EVER put their child in harms way.

    But, god does.

    And that makes sense?

  • How big of god to love those who love him. How loving of the faithfull to claim Gods love and grace as their personal property as they rejoice in denying it to all those outside of the faith.

  • @broxx44 Nobody who truly believes in God does so out of fear.

  • @allthesealsareopen If he is condemned, then have you done anything to prevent his condemnation? Or has your hatred driven him even farther away? No child of God would rejoice over the sufferings of another, so what are you? A child of God in need of repentance, or the child of the one who rejoices over suffering?

  • @allthesealsareopen next 18 months? well i'll try and keep a slot open in my diary. i love how stupid you are. ive condemned my whole family? how many generations are we going back? because surely you believe that we're all descended from adam and eve and therefore in the same family? please message back as youre one of the funniest people ive spoken to. funny yet imbecilic, an uncommon pairing

  • @allthesealsareopen but you only love him because youre terrified not to, and that doesnt really count. im glad that youre so misinformed and that Christopher's suffering is over. by the way are there any more confirmed dates for the raprture yet? you sound quite fundamental so i assume you think you will be involved in that?

  • @allthesealsareopen i am not joking.firstly he doesnt spread lies about the bible, the reason you claim that he does is because you know your god is evil and you struggle to come to terms with it,therefore you say that he is lying.secondly the way you hope that he "suffered" and is "suffering in hell for eternity" show how disgusting and morally vacuous people from your cult can be.just because he voiced his opinion on a subject and you disagree with him he should be tortured for eternity?grow up

  • I wonder if there's any other staunch extremist atheist around of the caliber of hitchens?

  • @highoctave1 Yes! Matt Dilahunty.

  • @fgjfdgjf never heard of, I guess he doesn't have the exposure hitchens had

  • @allthesealsareopen typical Christian, misinformed, ignorant and hateful of others that don't share your views

  • Christianity like all religions is a mental illness and should be treated as such.

  • What a sexy mind Hitchens had. I adored that man. I miss him!

  • what i have never understood is why the devil tortures evil people. you know him being the origin of sin and all. i would have thought he would have embraced them as one of his own...

  • "Quick, boys, lay hands on him."

    He he.

  • dumbfuck christians

  • let's not forget the goddess

  • Long live The Hitch!

  • 'We are telling you what has God himself said.' Said to present day people? So he actually spoke to you? Although I guess the basis is that it comes from reading God's word in the bible, except God did not actually put pen to paper and write the bible. One of these sinful, flawed human beings did. And another sinful, flawed human being is now interpreting words the much more primitive person wrote. I'm so confused. How is that supposed to work now?

  • 2:40 "I so seldom meet anyone who can actually inform me of God's will."

    Hitchens at his sardonic best!

I usually hate it when people quote the video by way of comment but this gem had to be highlighted and repeated. Indeed it needs to be carved over the doors of some august center of learning or, better yet, any or all churches.

  • @jpgrygus - You are on your way to totally understand that there is IN FACT. No god.

Keep up the good thinking. The truth will set you free.

  • @jpgrygus read the bible.

  • @jpgrygus Not a dictator? If you choose to not accept his supposed "gift", it is eternal torture for you. That is no choice whatsoever. That is coercion. That is a direct threat. That is immoral.

  • @DoctorOfDisbelief Yes, most people have the wrong idea of God, they think he is real.

  • @DoctorOfDisbelief You are one totally messed up motherf@#&r! Not accept his gift? eternal torture? direct threat? WTF? where the fuck did you get this garbage from? no wonder you atheists are confused if you think thats what God and Christianity is! I got a good laugh out of your comment...totally confused you are my friend! (and 7 of your friends)

  • @jpgrygus Well he sure did murder alot of people in that blood stained book you all don't read.

  • @alienlifeform11 Name just one person God killed? over to you.

  • @jpgrygus Everyone in the world with the flood, Egypts firstborn, Lots family.

  • @alienlifeform11 Flood? blaming it on God now? How about not messing with the terrain or building houses in flood prone areas etc. etc blame yourself not God. Egypts first born? God said this or some ruler of Egypt? Dont blame God for the actions of dictators. WTF is Lots family? Stop blaming God for peoples ignorant actions. Dont blame the water that you drowned...blame yourself that you cant swim!!! over to you.

  • @jpgrygus I don't blame your god. He doesn't exist.

  • @alienlifeform11 Don't forget all the animals that weren't in the ark. The god of the old testament is basically a massive crybaby that smashes all his toys because they won't do what he wants.

  • @jpgrygus What makes you think you have the right idea about God? Do you know him? According to the Bible he was a cruel dictator until some guy named Jesus was born and started saying that God loved everyone.

  • @luf4rall What makes you think I havent?

  • @jpgrygus Indeed, the Christian god is more evil than any dictator could ever be. In the Bible it says god will torture FOREVER those who do not love and worship him.

  • @Rozmic I dont know what book you are reading buts thats not the bible buddy. Show me where it says that? over to you.

  • @jpgrygus 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9

"He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power."

    EVERLASTING DESTRUCTION.

  • @Rozmic 1) You obviously have the wrong idea when it comes to the bible. You are clearly confused as all atheists are. The bible was never meant to be read literally. Paramahansa Yogananda said if you read the bible as a normal book you will miss the true meaning. You have made this mistake. See how 'he ' and God are distinguished in your passage! like two sperate entities. one the mind of God and the other spiritual law whcih is impersonal.

  • @jpgrygus Actually I just cut out the preceeding sentence which says 'God...blah blah blah', who else could 'He' refer to? All the rest of your posts are just apologist blabbering that make you out to be more of a deist than a christian; you portray a useless god with no autonomy that is absolutely meaningless.

  • @jpgrygus Exodus Chapter 21, verse 20: ' If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property. '

How is this in any way defensible?

  • @Rozmic You wont get a straight answer any time soon, ALL christians cherry pick the bible and hate answering questions that make them or the bible look bad, which is ironic as we both know the bible is not bad............it's evil.

  • @jpgrygus If it can't be taken literally then that means it is ok for everyone to have a different outlook on the bible. That means it is ok for some people to use the bible as an excuse to hurt and discriminate against others. There is no good reason to hurt and discriminate against others.

  • @Rozmic 2) God is spiritual mind, love, truth...if you do not accept this then what is the alternative? you are governed by spiritual law (law of cause and effect - karma) this law will punish you not God..or to be exact..you will punish yourself by ignorant miss use. if you jump off a tall building and die who do you blame? gravity or the fact you jumped? gravity doesnt care. if you drwon who do you blame? the wate or the fact you cant swim?

  • @Rozmic 3) so the passage you mention...law will punish you through miss use. You do not accept Gods love then you get non-love which is fear, disease, lack, depression etc. this 'punishment' will go on forever according to law until to decide to change and accept the truth of Gos which is Love. thats why they say love heals..disease, lack everything. Jesus never asked to be worshipped...just to obey his teachings which free people such as yourself whcih are bound.

  • @Rozmic Just as gravity will continue to cause people to fall to their deaths until people decide not to jump so will spiritual law cause people to endure 'everlasting destruction' if their attitudes are not changed. Dont be too concerned, every atheist makes a mistake. you are just human. now that you know the truth of this passage you will never have to doubt it again. No need to thank me...its my pleasure to teach the ignorant.

  • @Rozmic Funny how atheists can find these passages which to the ignorant put God in bad light and yet TOTALLY overlook and ignore passages such as 'God is Love' , 'thou shalt not kill' the story of Jesus saving the woman from getting stoned, healing children etc etc. I guess these passgae dont conform to your ignorant atheist view. I mean God and Jesus cant be that loving and compassionate could they? Perhaps more than any atheist?

  • @jpgrygus No we know of the so called good points, what we cant fathom is how christians dont question the evil parts. So even your own question fails in defending the bible as a book of good when you say and admit it has bad bits........now I bet you wish you had used a better argument

    FAIL!!!!

  • @Rozmic Now show me somewhere in the gospels where Jesus kills or assults someone? surely if God is a dictator then Jesus would carry out his hideous commands? I think Jesus did rape a child?!?!?...oh no he healed the child..thats right but dont mention that to your atheist friends...BTW do you know what the word 'owned' means'? over to you. Im going to church..you can continue watching porn.

  • @jpgrygus Jesus supports slavery in the new testament, and I don't find that moral at all.

Have fun listening to stories about your imaginary friend.

  • @jpgrygusTHERE FOR YOU ARE NOT READING THE FULL BIBLE!!!!!!

  • these guys are like high school debaters against a Stanford Professor with 40 years experience in debating............they are simply not in the same class as Mr. Hitchens....

  • @915buck Hitch was certainly one of a kind.

  • so... she was not rodrigos sister?

  • It's great to hear so many people laughing at this abhorrent part of history we call religion.

  • they should have added 10 more apologists to debate against Hitch. at least that way, they have a slim chance...

  • @konzen15 There is no number of illogical people that can make this a fair fight, because no battle can be waged and won against his devastating reason and logic.

  • @DoctorOfDisbelief Cancer seems to be doing a good job at defeating him lol lol lol

  • @jpgrygus You are definitely NOT an atheist.

  • @jpgrygus you are a disgusting human being....

  • @DoctorOfDisbelief Try "Fr. Frederick C. Copleston vs. Bertrand Russell," in YT. It comes in 2 parts. In the context of that video you might see that Christopher H and Richard D chose / chose their antagonists very well.

  • @valarmanwe Yes, most of us are aware of the Copleston/Russel debate. One does not make a myth true by developing a more sophisticated argument. In the referenced debate, you should have recognized that it is not impressive (other than the way they comport themselves) because to accept Copleston's reasoning, you have to accept his leaps in logic. We do not. We've moved past his arguments.

  • Comment removed

  • @DoctorOfDisbelief Which myth are you referring to ? Can you explain how you ( all ) have moved past the argument ?

  • @konzen15 100 balloons against a tank. A 1000 balloons against a tank. What's the difference?

  • @konzen15 At least that way I can get some more laughs today :p

  • I dont struggle with the free will concept of the bible. I assert that you cannot deny or accept someone whom you do not believe in. Therefore to deny god is innocent and suffer a fate worse than death for eternity is immoral. Even if you do turn your back to god, so what? Its such a disgusting, immoral model, to have children, judge them when they die, and cast them to eternal damnation because in the face of all the contradictory evidence, they failed to believe in the correct god.

  • It's bullshit to say, that you have just to read the bible and you know exactly, what God wants! Every christian interprets the bible (luckely, because the God of the bible is a monster), so you can't just take the writen word as it is... but how are we suposed to know, what interpretation of those words is the right one? I meen, not even christians can agree on that...

  • @burnyourcrutch

"Doesn't have the same ring to it. Anyone good with words!?"

    How about: screwed over sadistically.

  • Man that talking snake is a smooth talker

  • That moderator is as fidgety as a goddamn child.

  • Original sin and vicarious redemption are two aspects of Christianity that I just cannot overlook. Hitchens always knocks it out of the park when he talks about these things.

  • where was the humiliation?

  • In response to the guy on the panel. If God was so lonely, and only wanted us to be with him, and love him, then why did he put us on this earth at all? Why didn't he just create us and leave us in heaven? Why put us through the misery, and the suffering, and the hardship of life. I don't know about you, but when I want a friend/lover, I don't run them through the gauntlet. I just accept them into my circle.

  • @bendon82 Such a good way of putting it, very well said.

  • Hitchen's is great, but here he doesn't even have to lift a finger to trounce the idiocy and arrogance of the guy on the panel he is arguing with. The guy embarrasses himself.

  • man, i have a feeling the audience is made up mostly of christians, but they're still enamored with hitchens. how could you not be?

  • Hitchens: Here's a perfectly rational argument.

Christians: I don't care, god exists.

  • I wish they would not say God is a "father" he is clearly a fascist dictator

  • "Quick boys, lay hands on him."

Would love to see Hitch's reaction to that.

  • @MrMonkeyInk It Burns.. It Burns...

  • God cannot intervene if he is all powerful and wants to allow freedom. it's an immutable isoceles triangle: any increase in morality and power = a decrease in personal freedom.

in fact, to intervene is to play the role of satan. Satan plays a vital role of tester, a figurehead for evil.

It's impossible for god to intervene while staying morally perfect.

pain and adversity is the only way to allow morality, and growth.

    and INDEPENDENCE.

humans r perfectly balanced between logic+magic, good+evil

  • What would be the purpose of god giving us free will, where he is said to explicitly tell us to live by a moral code and a set of doctrines. Failure to follow these and we are punished and sent to hell. Almost as if he is trying to lure us into a mistake, and then punish us and send us to an eternity of torture.

The bible & religion is absolute rubbish and does more harm than good.

  • What is it with that old christian claim that god gave us free will. Seriously, he did not. You can choose not to follow him, and then you'll burn in hell for all eternity, or you can become one of god's eager, mindless followers and you'll be fine. How is this free will. It's like a guy holding a gun against your head. You need to be a complete retard to think god has given man free will according to the bible.

  • The snake is Enki, the tree of knowledge is example used for craving knowledge as the Annunaki did not want them to, but the humans did take the knowledge Satan (Enki) enki rebelled and wanted humanity to have knowledge, but the others did not. Therefore Enki is the devil because he rebelled against Elohim 'plural' Gods. The bible is a shorter version of the Sumerian texts. Which they explain much better in detail. We are slaves, we were built to be so.

  • "Quick boys, lay hands on him" - Pure epic. xD

  • "What if I a father creates his children knowing they will suffer and have great joy, and gives them free will...."

Uh, first, the father does not "create" them. The mother is the one that gives birth. This is a pretty freaking suffocating father that so generously recognizes the "free will" of the "children he created".

Of course, it's a false analogy. We are created in sin, in debt, and our "free will" is only to choose God.... or burn in Hell forever. Yeah, free will....

  • FACK, is it ever painful to listen to the idiots Hitchens is forced to debate. He just makes them all look so sad and stupid.

  • There's no such thing as "sin" or "evil". These are man-made concepts. One man's evil is another man's good.

  • Man created god in his own image.

  • I know there is no god who implements justice. These crooks have been lining their fucking pockets simply because most humans are credulous and uneducated. If justice existed these frauds would be broke. GOD NEEDS MONEY!

  • Absolutely blows my mind these frauds peddle knowledge of god's will while making a buck. A perfect example of one wasting their entire life on drivel is that Craig chap. What a damn waste. But then again maybe he is not wasting his life because that is the BEST the Christians can come up with and he has been dismantled. So hopefully this is the Christians last stand.

  • There's so much wrong here? Where to begin? First, we're born sinful as Hitchens said, so free will is irrelevant. It's like a country where children born without a limb will be sent to jail, after a certain time, for good. If during that time she commits certain crimes, this regime can't claim justification by saying "Well she commmited these also."

Why couldn't God create beings with both free will who will always do right? That's what they say will happen in Heaven!

  • @YOURINQUIRER "Why couldn't God create beings with both free will who will always do right? That's what they say will happen in Heaven!"

People in heaven don't sin because they're united with God. They've freely chosen to be so.

  • @Jugglable We were united with God and we still sinned according to Christian dogma. You should think this through before you respond.

  • @YOURINQUIRER By definition, God CANNOT create free will. He is all-knowing, and all-powerful. Nothing can happen without him knowing about it, and nothing can happen if he doesn't want it to. Such is just his "power." In this system, free will doesn't exist. All possible choices you could make have already been made, at least in the mind of God, because he knows everything everyone will ever do at any given time.

  • @ELREndLondonRule you are right and that´s yet another paradox in religion. But YOURINQUIRER still makes a valid point that IF god could create humans with free will, then, since god is supposed to be both morally perfect and have free will, it would be possible to both have free will and be morally perfect, so god would then have been able to create humans that way. The thing with religion is that it is what is called "fractally wrong" - it fails logically at every layer of it´s reasoning.

  • @YOURINQUIRER very good point and one I´ve thought of myself. God would have been able to create humans with free will but no inclination to sin. After all, god is supposed to both have free will and be perfect, so why wouldn´t he create humans to also be like that?

  • If I were sitting where Hitchens is, I'd have a hard time keeping my right arm from breaking William Lane Craig's nose. Maybe I'd try to smash his head into Douglas Wilson's like a toy monkey smashing cymbals :)

  • @MultiUniv3rsal If I were Christopher Hitchens, I'd have a hard time not hanging myself after William Lane Craig trounced my ass in a debate so bad than even an atheist blogger said he spanked me like an unruly child.

  • @Jugglable

Which blogger? Yet another "Liar for Jesus"?

  • @Aaberg123 commonsenseatheism dot c o m

Google the phrase "spanked hitchens like a foolish child" in quotes and you'll see a post on that site.

  • @Jugglable You can find bloggers who'll say anything.

Did William Lane Craig have such a hard time not hanging himself after having his ass trounced in a debate with Bart Ehrman so bad than even Christian bloggers said he spent most of the time running from Bart's questions after he accidently admitted there were mistakes in the Bible?

  • @YOURINQUIRER Can you provide a link?

  • @Jugglable To bloggers who'll say anything? Do you really think you need a link from me to find that? Seriously?

  • @YOURINQUIRER No, just to the one you mentioned.

  • Comment removed

  • @Jugglable About Bart Ehrman?

  • @YOURINQUIRER Yeah.

  • @Jugglable watch?v=FhT4IENSwac

  • @YOURINQUIRER ooohh really? I must watch!!!! I cant stand that william craig douche bag.. thank you for pointing that out to me!!!! now I must go search for it!! thanks again!!!!

  • @YOURINQUIRER hey .. me again... is that the "Did Jesus rise from the dead" debate that you are referring to? I found it and was wondering if that is the same one you were speaking of? thanks!

  • @legacy917 Yes it is.

  • @Jugglable Man, I'd hate to be you.

  • @MultiUniv3rsal 'Cause I asked for a link?

  • @Jugglable You've said so many dumb things already, enough people have spoken up that you no longer can tell which response you're responding to.

That's a pretty fucking good cue you've been talking out of your ass.

  • @MultiUniv3rsal That's really the best you've got. That and your original comment.

  • @Jugglable If you had said something worthwhile, you'd get a worthwhile response.

  • first?
