The reason there are on "killer riffs" is because Perry is not capable of "killer riffs". Yeah, he is good. Not great. This is not Hendrix, Page, Blackmore, Montrose, Vaughn, Vye, Satriani, Johnson(Eric), Gambale. Those are SOME of those capable of "killer riffs". I know, I can play almost ALL of their songs, uh, not on a guitar. On my chosen instrument. Note for note. I know hard and this is not hard to play. But then you fools made AC/DC megadeth famous for being Great musicians??! Right.
I remember seeing JP project in 1982 perform at the Astroskate in Tarpon Springs, Fl just outside Tampa. The stage was setup on one side of the skating rink about 1 foot off the ground. We could not believe we were watching Joe Perry jamming within arms reach of us.There were about 50 fans watching the show while about 100 kids were skating and eating pizza totally oblivious to what was happening on the other side. Definitely a low point in his career. I wonder if anyone else on here attended.
This is my fav song from Joe Perry and then later on the Aerosmith Done With Mirrors album...There are so many versions of this song?...It's gotta be one of their most recorded trax but every time they re-do it, it always seems to be a greater version upon itself-Its like it always becomes "new and improved" somehow and not a tired re-hashing of crap like most of their "hit albums"??? Aerosmith's "hit albums" are sold about every 4th album or so? which=WEAK! But not this song???anyone agree?
@Burythneedle - While Wikipedia would not be a go-to place for serious academic research, the site is well-maintained and offers its readers plenty of viable information for everday use. As for what is written in album liners. Bare in mind that songwriters frequently give up the rights to their work. Why? There are complex and not so complex reasons. For example, some writers, especially those breaking into the business, may release the rights to the label and agree to a lump some cashout.
He was 45 minutes late and could barley stand up when he came to our sleepy little VT town back in this era. Come to think of it....neither could I. Great tunes, great times! The Aerosmith "Lightning Strikes" album from this era was also very good in my opinion......
Some of the songs are alright. But the reason you don't hear really killer riffs and solos on Joe's recordings is simple. Back in the day Aerosmith regularly used outside help, namely guitarist, to add significant artistic touches to their albums. Get Your Wings, Toys and Rocks included. We won't even go into who penned many of the classic lyrics. Perry/Tyler? Please! Simply search around the net and you'll see. Try Wikipedia for example.
@homeydontlie Aerosmith just used another guitar players on Train and Same Old Song and they did write their songs, moron. Aerosmith is a live band, one of the best performers and who the fuck play them live?
You see what? Aerosmith is the Real Deal and has been from day 1. Yeah, their producer hired in some talent to get them back on track in the 90's. BFD. I've seen Joe Perry and Brad Whitford on stage jamming the Blues with Billy Gibbons and staying with him lick for lick. That's phuking real!
love it, but for me the perfect partnership is joe and steve its like they were ment to be!!, they both compliment each other in such a massive way, and tylers voice is unreal, one of the best live vocalists in rock n roll history
Saw them last night in Toronto. They opened for Motley Crue at the ACC.
The Joe Perry Project were awsome. Love the guitar slide live on this song. Joe Perry is such an awsome guitar player as was the rest of his band. The lead singer is from Germany.
This is the original version. Such a shame Joe didn't get the recognition he deserved for this album. If you haven't heard the rest of it I suggest you go pick it up if you can find it.
@atiredwing he did get the recognition for the album (see rolling stone review) the killer was the lead singer sounding like Steve and prancing around like steve tyler....there is a jap version with extra tracks also and damn good! Peace out
joe perryyy!!!!!!!!!whooo excitement levels rise when i hear this song!!

This "IS" the one. Aerosmith does it no justice. Straight up bangin' rock wall of sound!!! Sometimes solo efforts are better.

I disagree, I actually much prefer this production but it sounds like what would happened if Dio was the lead singer of Aerosmith... haha.

I'm sorry... but this version does NOT even hold a candle to the DWM version from Aerosmith.
Ralph M.'s voice is fucking terrible. Thank goodness Steven Tyler salvaged the potential from this utterly horrible version.
