I adore Deep Purple. Ritchie Blackmore is THE greatest guitarist of all time. Brad Gillis is of the the greatest-I adore Gillis! Maybe if DP had replaced Blackmore with Gillis I'd still give a rats ass about Purple. If I need a live Purple fix, I'll pull out my old vinyl. There is no DP anymore as far as I'm concerned.
That Brad Gillis guy is such a motherfucker on guitar. I remember loving that live Ozzy album he played on and listening to it over and over and over. And of course then I became a drummer. lol
LMAO!!! "When you cut your hair, someone should take your guitar away and hand you a briefcase" now THAT'S funny. Hey Mike, when I saw your name, it sure sounded familiar. Then I checked your YouTube page and I saw Titan Studios. Are you still in Florida? You still in touch with JB? I was telling a bud the other day, "the best, screamin' lead sound I've ever heard was from a Strat with an old MXR Distortion pedal played through a 4X10 Fender" I was at the studio one day when you were jammin.
@michaeljamsmith - Oh please. I'm in my mid 50s and most of my friends are musicians, many of whom are my age or older, and they don't even have hair to cut anymore...and they can mop the fuckin' floor with the current so-called musicians!
I always liked Jeff Watson better because his stuff is a little more challenging to play...Brad has good use of the whammy though. Bottom line is Brad Gillis made it as a guitarist and the few times I saw Night Ranger...they rocked.
i have ozzys speak of the devil live album with him it sucks but this sounds pretty good brad didnt seem to have it togher on that album its all sabbath songs brad couldnt pull it of i dont know why. he played good in this
I have heard this critics for him very often. Even Ozzy had a negative comments about him. I do not know why. I love Speak of the Devil performance. It is not bad at all to me. I still listen to that album! Strange...!
Brad was well known for being one of the first guitarists to mount his wireless pack into the actual electronics of the guitar. He often said it actually caused problems, but back in the early 80s with ozzy you can see the same thing :)
I didn't know Gillis use one (i get interested in Gillis since some month after buying his fernandes signature guitar for a ridiculous price) but i remember in the 80's Kramer put out a wireless system like that.

Brad Gillis is one of the 80's most underrated guitarists. He always had good technique, great skill and a tasteful and melodic approach to solos.

I prefer Jeff Watson...
