from "First Meditations"(For Quartet)(Impulse! 9027-9332)=(1965) + "Meditations"(Impulse! AS-9110)=(1966) Also is composition of Ornette Coleman:"Tomorrow Is The Question!" (Contemporary S-7569)=(1959)
Besides the fact that the music is just beautiful, creating that kind of floating dense ambient...I have to say that I had never seen pics of Trane smiling!!! it was a perfect mix, this music and the pictures
I think some of those pics came from the wonderful "Boston Bernie". I knew him a bit and he was one of those kind of people you just don't see anymore. Beautiful music from the master.
Grief, and it's counterpart, Compassion; only Coltrane could express such deep emotion in this stunning composition. Listen to this when you've just lost something very special in your life.
@inagaddadavita compassion is not only grief's counterpart: it is necessary for daily life if man is to have dignity, it is where kindness and all that is good in man arises from. trane's music from this period always sounded ecstatic and fiery to me, not mournful. sorry for your loss though, yes, catharsis such as this helps,
Love its intensity and emotion.... only Contrane is capable of moving you this way.

I love Coltrane's most chilled work, but I'm feeling the energy and the passion in his playing in this piece!! Epic.
