and BTW , if you do not know how to buzz and u say u play brass instruments , please go n learn how to cuz it is an ultimate disgrace to BRASS players.
MY EARS !!!Sorry if its a little rude. He probably haven't heard better so lets not condemn him . just what im thinking , i wouldn't dare to post this video cuz everybody will condemn this vid to the max. much more to work on before playing this virtuosic set of music . You heard of Steven Mead ? David Childs ? Robert Childs? Adam Frey ? you might be surprised...
I am playing this on my horn at the moment and i realise how hard this is but i'm afraid its not as difficult as your playing suggests and your not playing the proper version in some parts lots of splits too
i think you needed another month or so hard practice before performing that... i got this music yesterday and sightread it as well as u played on on this vid
HaHa, it's nice to see someone actually asking for tips. Normally people don't ask, just post a video and get bombarded with negative comments about their playing. ( I hate that),
It is however a lot easier to give advice if you can at least hear the person playing.
If you play a brass instrument... you can buzz a mouthpiece. Get in front of a piano... play an F, buzz and hold the F. On the piano, play an A... buzz up to the A and down to the F... continue up the F major (1 flat) scale.
Ok, by double F's and G's you mean around the 3 ledger line or the octave higher, I'm from the Uk, and I don't think we use the term, double F's,
Also, you mentioned you were a performance major, does that mean highschool, or college (university), again I'm curious as we have a different system in the Uk,
Replying to 'Do you know what you are talking about', (if that was aimed at me), then trying not to sound big headed, I guess yes I do,my site has more info it's robinlangdon [dot] co [dot] uk
All instruments are different and none are easier or harder than the other. Yes, certain things are harder or easier on others, such as as it is harder to play legato on trombones, or fast on tuba, but all difficulties can be overcome. Being a euph player, I would say that playing legato is easier, but fast runs are harder than say a trumpet or a woodwind instrument as the valves are longer and produce more pressure. (unless you have a rotary valve euph)
Defined as a "rare breed" by the majority of music services, and often, they're unheard of.
Give a kid a choice between the trombone, and the Euphonium, they'll go for the Trombone.
Often, its hard, especially in the UK, to find Euphonium players - hell, i should know, i've played in enough orchestras, as a Euphonium player, plus often you find that music isn't written for Euphoniums - a real shame as well.
You are going on a tangent now. I called you 'My Friend' If we are going to argue brass then please let's stay on the topic. You being a euphonium player you know it's the euphonium more then other parts. Euphonium actually quite often reads tenor actually. Back to the case and point, it was arrogant to say that the euphonium is the easiest of the brass instruments. And to your arguement. Valving + Blowing air = trumpet Easy embrochure = trombone aswell as tuba
multiple clefs often in the same piece. Yes you will often see lower instruments playing bass aswell as tenor but nonetheless the prerequisites of a "decent" euphonium player is a little more demanding then others. And if they were so simplistic like you boldly state they wouldn't be in such high demand.
One to boldy conclude that there is an "easiest" of the brass instruments is arrogant. Fine, give someone on the street a euphonium they can produce a sound. But my friend it takes a long while to produce a very warm and tonal sound. It's also very diverse because not only is it often individual it can play a beautiful harmony and a smooth and moving bass line. And you see that in euphonium/baritone parts then other instruments. Aswell as reading music sometimes you are recquired to read...
listen to baadsvik... norwegiean tubaist;) or eirik gjerdevik... also a norwegian tubaist... i have got some big inspiration from these two guys... practice a little more on the calm part... that was not too good... and practice effectivly... wich will say slow... use your ears a little more;) i play the euphonium to and i love it;)

People can be critical as long as they know that what they are setting their expectations for is doable by SOMEONE.

tonguing is a little heavy in the fast passages, but I had the same problem, too.
I started using a 2CL lindberg mouthpiece and it helped a bit.
Yes, I know.
Trombone mouthpiece in a euphonium.

I agree with rkl106 - props for just asking. I find that buzzing on the mouthpiece helps things immensely!

Double F's at concert pitch (bass clef) or are you talking Bb treble, just out of interest.

Easiest of the brass instruments... LOL! You idiot... I thought it was very well done. The euphonium made it all that better. Cheers!
