I got the album, and I must say that it is a lot better that the last one, and I must say that toumas holopainen is a genius. He realized that there is no more Tarja so he combined the voice on annette olzon and marco hietala and produced some very epic songs like this one, dead calm, I want my tears back. the crow the owl and the dove. everyone should buy this album

What the hell does the last line mean? I started out not liking the whole spoken part at first, but it grew on me and is now my favorite part of the song. But that last part just...throws me the fuck off.

I don't really know much about the deeper technical aspects of music or anything, so aside from knowing that G and Em are notes, I'm pretty lost, and I have no idea what metaphor he is driving for.

And the main character's name in the movie is "Gem". When you see the movie you will understand a lot more. She is the daughter of the main character in the movie, she is called Gem. And it all makes sense once you see the movie, especially the last scene."

Just finished listening to this whole album. Epic 10min+ songs from Nightwish always sit well with me.. This is by far 1 of favs.. Good to see praise for the band in its entirety.. I truely love Nightwish for the story they are and the story they tell. I'm not a Nightwish fan but I'm really into progressive rock music. Does this concept album means Nightwish is going progressive? Many musical aspects involved in this new album aren't very metal like but more progressive. If you like this but your mostly into metal you'd might like Dream Theater, Rush, Queensryche and Pink Floyd too.

Definitely symbolic. Consider G and Em. The two scales are relative to each other (ie: Em is essentialy the E scale played in the key of G). G major is a very bright and happy sounding scale. Em is nearly identical, but is rather dark and sad. I believe that the symbolism here is that the things in this world that are very happy and the things that are very dark and sad are not that different, and are closer together than one might think.
