  • @cl0ngrf3 yes it was but he won the wellington cup in the same year and is the only horse to have won both racers in the same year, and was at the age of nine by 1985.

  • @cl0ngrf3 I'm not sure, you may be right there, what I do know is the 1983 Melbourne Cup was his Australian debut. Not bad going for a farm-horse.

  • To all those "Kiwi was a one-hit wonder" types, look at his run in this before he falters in the last few strides, I wonder what his finishing time was, he was bloody flying again!

  • I wonder what happened to Mr.Lamondy?

  • Kiwi almost repeated a 1983 but pulled up lame.

  • Is that bruce mcavaney calling?

  • Special isn't it!

  • besides the real aussie style distinct accent - does a pretty damn good job

  • @andyoutsider21 sure is! I think he said once in an interview he called two melbourne cups... im not certain but the other one could have been Empire Rose... may be wrong though. He sure is an all-rounder with his sports! Great sports presenter

  • @MavJem Correct, he called quite a few actually. 1985 to 1988 I think he called.
