@zapdo77 We drove around the Mon Valley in Pennsylvania and I literally hung a still camera out the window and snapped photos. I actually created the set extension in photoshop - just changed the prespective of the image until it matched the angle of the production footage. The rest of the scene is a matte painting. I used a wacom tablet and some patience to add in show, lights, trolly tracks, road, stars in the sky, etc.
@zapdo77 In the last breakdown "The Coyle Theater Sequence," again i did have some a physical set to work off of - even though the left side of the screen and right side of the screen are actually two locations (they were compositied together - not shown). As for the buildings, they're photos.
@zapdo77 In the first breakdown for example, The physical room did exsist - but logistically the production could not fill an entire room with extras dressed in period clothing and actually funish a set of that size - as far as elements that room consists of multiple still photos stiched together. (I think I shot 5K stills).
